NIT Goa: 2 Answered Questions

What facilities are there at NIT Goa? Can someone give a brief answer, keeping in mind laboratories, faculty, hostel, campus life etc. ?

Ankit VyasStudied at National Institute of Technology, Goa (2020)

I have a friend who used to be a student of NIT Goa. Based on the conversation I had with him, I can give you some information regarding the facilities offered by the institute.

  • Labs: There are around a hundred computers that run on Linux and Windows in the CSE lab. You cannot expect Mac in colleges. The internet availability is nice. Wi-Fi facility is available in the main building and hostels. Classrooms have projectors as well as Wi-Fi. Other department labs are also well-equipped.
  • Faculty: You should not keep your expectations very high because there are only a few very good teachers. But they are good enough to inspire you. There are some good faculties for cryptography and algorithms in the computer science department.
  • Hostel: It is not that good, but it is manageable. It has Wi-Fi and a mess where no one eats.
  • Campus life: The campus is nice and in a good location as well because it has a lot of greenery around. The present campus is a temporary one.

As it has been years since its establishment, students organize a lot of events which you will find entertaining.

Can someone throw some light on the facilities and faculty available at NIT Goa?

Soumika GoswamiStudied at National Institute of Technology, Goa (2019)

Some of my friends studied at NIT Goa, so I might be able to answer your question. You can afterward analyze it and see if it matches your expectations.

  • The faculty at NIT Goa at the initial phase was very ordinary.
  • Most of the faculty was the graduates who have completed their graduation recently.
  • The initial phase or this phase was in December 2011.
  • The current scenario is different too in a positive aspect.
  • The Institute has developed drastically.
  • In comparison to the fresh graduate faculty, now the professors are from the IITs, IISC, and NITs who have completed their Ph.D.
  • The faculty is well experienced and knowledgeable.
  • Their way of teaching is good and impactful.

They also prefer to explain the subjects effectively than to just cover up the syllabus and mug up. The exams are not just planned to pass a student, rather they are tricky and feel like an actual exam.
