JMI Ph.D. (IT) Fees

The Ph.D. (Information Technology) programme at JMI is highly affordable, given JMI's status as a Central University with government funding. Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must hold a Master's degree (M.Tech/M.E./M.Sc/MCA or equivalent) with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate (or equivalent Grade B in UGC 7-point scale) in Information Technology, Computer Science, or an allied subject.
A relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) is applicable for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/Differently-abled candidates, or those who obtained their Master's degree before September 19, 1991.
Candidates appearing in the final semester of their Master's programme may also apply, subject to submission of final results before admission.

Admission Process:

Apply online at admission.jmi.ac.in and pay the application fee of Rs. 2,000.
Submit a hard copy/soft copy of the filled application form to the Director, FTK-Centre for Information Technology, JMI.
Appear for the JMI Ph.D. Entrance Test (Paper I: Research Methodology, 100 MCQs, 2 hours; Paper II: Subject-specific IT/CS, 100 marks, 3 hours) - OR - submit proof of UGC-NET/JRF/CSIR-NET/JRF/GATE or equivalent for exemption.
Qualify the entrance test with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Paper I and Paper II.
Prepare and submit a research proposal for the interview.
Appear for the departmental interview conducted by the DRC/CRC at FTK-CIT; minimum 40% marks required to qualify.
Final merit list is prepared based on entrance test performance and interview scores, subject to availability of supervisors and seats.

JMI Ph.D. (IT) Scholarships 2026

Ph.D. scholars at JMI can avail a range of fellowships and scholarships from both the university and national/government bodies.
