Ques. Do I need prior knowledge of Persian to apply for BA (Hons.) Persian at JMI?
Ans. Prior knowledge of Persian is highly beneficial and practically necessary, as the entrance test (Part B) includes Persian vocabulary, translation, and comprehension in Persian. The programme is taught in Persian medium for core subjects. Students with prior Persian learning from madrasas, Persian medium schools, or self-study are at a significant advantage. However, the entrance test duration is only 45 minutes, so preparation is key.
Ques. What career options are available after BA (Hons.) Persian from JMI?
Ans. Graduates can pursue careers as Persian translators, interpreters, diplomats (Persian is an official language of Iran, Afghanistan, and Tajikistan), teachers, researchers, historians, and professionals in Iran-related sectors. Many JMI Persian graduates work with the Ministry of External Affairs, embassies, and cultural organisations. Ques. What is the relevance of Persian language in India today?

Part B (60 marks) is subjective, including Persian vocabulary with antonyms/synonyms in English/Urdu, translation from English to Persian/Urdu, and comprehension.

Ques. What is the Muslim minority reservation in BA (Hons.) Persian at JMI?
Ans. JMI being a Minority Institution, 50% of seats are reserved for Muslim candidates: 30% for Muslim applicants (general), 10% for Muslim women, and 10% for Muslim OBC/ST candidates. The remaining 50% seats are open to all candidates. Additionally, 5% seats are reserved for PwD candidates, 5% for internal Jamia students, and 5% for Kashmiri migrants.
