Ques. What is the difference between M.S. Research and M.Tech at IIT Delhi CSE?
Ans. The M.S. Research is entirely thesis-based and oriented toward academic and research careers, while M.Tech is a taught degree with coursework and campus placements. M.S. scholars are expected to publish and defend a thesis over two years. Both are 2-year programmes using GATE-based COAP admission, but M.S. Research has no formal placement programme unlike M.Tech at IIT Delhi.
Ques. Is there a monthly stipend for M.S. students at IIT Delhi?
Ans. Yes. GATE-qualified M.S. Research students receive a Teaching Assistantship of INR 12,400 per month throughout the 2-year programme, conditional on satisfactory academic progress and fulfilling assigned teaching duties in the department. Students admitted on IIT CGPA basis without GATE are generally not eligible for this monthly assistantship.
Ques. Is M.S. CSE admission at IIT Delhi through COAP or direct departmental interview?
Ans. Admission is through the COAP centralised portal, the same platform used for all IIT M.Tech and M.S. programmes nationwide. Candidates qualify GATE in the CS paper, register on COAP, and fill IIT Delhi preferences during the registration window.
