IIT Delhi Tech Product Management FAQs

Ques. Is the IIT Delhi CEP Certificate in Advanced Product Management recognised by employers?

Ans. The certificate is issued by IIT Delhi’s Continuing Education Programme (CEP) office under the Department of Management Studies and carries the IIT Delhi brand name. Many technology companies and consulting firms acknowledge it as evidence of structured upskilling from a premier national institution. However, it is not a degree and does not carry university credits, so candidates who need an accredited academic qualification should explore IIT Delhi’s full-time MBA or M.Tech programmes instead of this short certificate course.

Ques. Who teaches the Advanced Product Management programme at IIT Delhi DMS?

Ans. All live sessions are taught by faculty from IIT Delhi’s Department of Management Studies, ranked among India’s top management departments. The 48 hours of instruction are delivered online every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM IST, giving participants direct access to IIT Delhi DMS faculty throughout the 5-month programme. The capstone project on customer discovery and prototype development is evaluated by the same faculty team, ensuring the rigour expected from an IIT institution.

Ques. Can participants attend sessions from outside Delhi?

Ans. Yes, all sessions are conducted live online, so participants can join from any city with a stable internet connection. The programme is built for working professionals who cannot relocate or take a career break, and there are no mandatory in-person components or campus visits. The only requirement is availability every Saturday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM IST, starting from October 2026, making the course accessible to professionals based anywhere in India or abroad.

Ques. What is the total fee and are instalment options available?

Ans. The total programme fee is INR 1,61,660, comprising a base fee of INR 1,37,000 plus 18% GST of INR 24,660. After the offer letter is issued, the IIT Delhi CEP office outlines the exact payment schedule, which may include phased instalments depending on the batch. Education loans are available through the SBI Vidyalakshmi portal for eligible applicants. Candidates should confirm the specific instalment plan directly with the DMS CEP team at cepqip.iitd.ac.in before enrolling.

Ques. Does this executive programme include any placement support?

Ans. The Executive Programme in Advanced Product Management is a short-duration certificate course and does not include formal placement assistance or campus recruitment drives. It is designed for employed professionals aiming to strengthen their product management expertise and earn an IIT Delhi credential. Participants benefit from the DMS faculty network, structured peer interactions, and the IIT Delhi brand, all of which can contribute to independent career advancement in product or technology management roles.

Ques. What background or experience is preferred before applying for this programme?

Ans. The minimum requirement is a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognised university. IIT Delhi DMS prefers applicants with prior internship, project, or professional experience in technology, business, or a related field, since the curriculum applies concepts to real product scenarios and assumes some organisational context. No minimum number of years is specified, but candidates without any practical exposure may find the capstone exercises and live discussions less impactful than those with at least one to two years of professional experience.

What are the humanities courses that one should do at IIT Delhi?

Kunal SharmaB.Tech. from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi

Usually, two types of people opt for humanities courses. One prefers a laid-back schedule and easy grading while the other prefers challenging coursework and exciting lectures. My friend was kind to opt for a more lively course than spend his classes yawning away. He chose some courses like

  • Mind, Machines, and Language
  • Language and Communication
  • Creative Writing

Another extremely learned professor taught him Science, Society, and Technology. No doubt the course was very rigorous and demanding, but my friend enjoyed the course anyways. There were deep discussions, readings, and assignments which sometimes seemed too hectic, yet the entire process was intriguing and exciting at the same time.

Another course my friend opted for was Moral Literacy and Moral Choices which taught him concepts of Philosophy that none knew about. The course was very interesting. He talked about various thinkers and their philosophical teachings which transformed the students into another world.

All the humanities courses offered at IIT Delhi are intriguing and the parity of professors cannot be doubted. Go for any course that sparks a ray of interest in you!

What is the worst course you've taken or have heard of at IIT Delhi?

Akriti Banerjeelives in New Delhi

In my opinion, the two worst courses one should refrain from ever taking in IIT Delhi are MCP 100 and MCP 101.

MCP 100: This course is Engineering Drawing and is one of the most irrelevant courses offered at IIT Delhi. It is taught by prof Sujeet Kumar Sinha who has no teaching skills and is always in a rush to complete the course. The entire syllabus is completed in just 2 months leaving no space to comprehend what was taught.

MCP 101: This course comprises concepts such as casting and welding which are not expected to be studied by an IITian at least.

Both the courses are a complete waste of time and don’t do justice to the institute's reputation.
