IGNOU PGCIPWS FAQs
Ques. Is PGCIPWS only for engineers, or can any graduate apply?
Ans. The full name of the programme is Post Graduate Certificate in Inventory Planning and Warehousing System for Engineers, but the eligibility criterion states Graduation in any discipline with Mathematics. This means any graduate who has studied Mathematics at the graduation level can apply, not just engineering graduates. However, the curriculum is technically oriented and best suited for those with an engineering or science background.
Ques. Can I complete PGCIPWS while working full-time?
Ans. Yes, absolutely. PGCIPWS is offered in ODL (Open and Distance Learning) mode, which means there are no regular classes to attend. Study material is provided by IGNOU, and you can study at your own pace. The only mandatory activities are submitting assignments before the deadline and appearing for the Term-End Examination (TEE) at your designated study centre.
Ques. What is the maximum time I have to complete PGCIPWS?
Ans. The minimum duration of the programme is 6 months (one semester), but IGNOU allows a maximum of 2 years to complete the PGCIPWS programme. This gives learners flexibility if they are unable to clear all courses in the first attempt.
Ques. Are there only 5 study centres for PGCIPWS across India?
Ans. As per the official IGNOU admission portal, PGCIPWS is currently offered through 5 regional centres: Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Nagpur, and Noida. Students must select one of these centres at the time of admission. If your nearest centre is not listed, you may contact IGNOU's School of Engineering and Technology (SOET) or the Programme Coordinator Dr. Ashish Agarwal (ashisha@ignou.ac.in) for guidance.
Ques. What is the value of PGCIPWS in the job market?
Ans. The PGCIPWS certificate adds significant value for professionals working in logistics, supply chain, warehousing, and operations management. It is particularly useful for those seeking roles such as Inventory Manager, Warehouse Manager, Supply Chain Analyst, or Logistics Coordinator. Since it is an IGNOU programme, it is recognized by all AIU member institutions and is well-regarded in the industry, especially for government and PSU roles.
Ques. Is there a project component in PGCIPWS, and how is it evaluated?
Ans. Yes, MWRP-01 (Project) is a compulsory 4-credit component of the PGCIPWS programme. Students are required to undertake a project related to inventory planning or warehousing, typically based on their workplace or a real-world scenario. The project is evaluated by IGNOU faculty and carries significant weightage in the overall assessment. Detailed guidelines are provided in the programme guide available on IGNOU's eGyanKosh portal.
