The Certificate in Consumer Protection (CCP) is a 16-credit distance learning programme offered by the School of Law at IGNOU. With a minimum duration of 6 months (extendable up to 2 years), the programme builds awareness and expertise in consumer rights, the Consumer Protection Act, and grievance redressal mechanisms. The total programme fee is Rs. 2,100 (plus applicable registration and development fees), making it one of the most affordable legal literacy programmes in India. There is no entrance exam, and the programme is open to anyone who has completed 10+2 or its equivalent. It is popular among NGO workers, legal professionals, corporate employees, and socially conscious citizens who want to understand and advocate for consumer rights without pursuing a full-time law degree.
The January 2026 admission cycle is currently open. The last date for fresh admission for Certificate programmes is extended to 30th March 2026. Applications can be submitted online at ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. The July 2026 admission cycle is expected to open in May 2026, with a tentative last date in August 2026 (based on the previous year's schedule).
