Ques. What topics are covered in the CAHC programme?

Ans. CAHC covers two main theory courses: (1) Fundamentals of Adolescence - covering puberty, physical and psychological development, identity formation, and healthy lifestyle; and (2) Issues and Challenges during Adolescence - covering mental health, substance abuse, sexual health, peer pressure, and counselling approaches. There is also a 1-day practical session.

Ques. What is the WEAS (Web Enabled Academic Support) in CAHC?

Ans. WEAS is IGNOU's online platform for academic support. For CAHC, counselling sessions are conducted through WEAS, allowing students to attend online sessions from anywhere. This makes the programme highly flexible for working teachers and professionals.

Ques. Is the 1-day practical session mandatory for CAHC?

Ans. Yes. The practical course (CNS-AHL 001) includes a mandatory 1-day practical session at the allotted study centre. This session provides hands-on experience in applying adolescent health counselling techniques. Students must attend this session to be eligible for the Term-End Examination.

Ques. Can CAHC help me become a certified school counsellor?

Ans. CAHC provides foundational knowledge in adolescent health and counselling. While it is not a full counselling degree, it significantly enhances your skills and knowledge for school counselling roles. For a full school counsellor certification, you may need to pursue higher qualifications such as a Diploma or Master's in Counselling Psychology.

Ques. Is CAHC available in Hindi medium?

How to change IGNOU subject/course/medium?

Dev Anand

how to change subject/course/medium at IGNOU:

IGNOU allows changes in certain circumstances:

  • Subject change: possible within the first 30 days of admission for the current session. visit your regional center or apply through ignou.ac.in ? student zone ? program change/subject change
  • Program/course change: if you want to switch to a completely different program (e.g., BA to BCA), you generally cannot transfer — you must re-apply for the new program fresh. some provisions exist within the same school/faculty
  • Medium change: can typically be changed with a written request to your regional study center

the annual window for changes is narrow — usually the first month of each admission cycle (Jan or July). after the window, changes are not generally accepted. visit ignou.ac.in ? student support or your nearest IGNOU regional center. bring your enrollment ID and relevant documents. call your regional center to confirm the current process as IGNOU procedures can vary slightly by center.
