IGNOU CRUL FAQs

Ques. I have no educational qualification beyond Class 8. Can I still apply for IGNOU CRUL?

Ans. Yes. The CRUL programme has no formal educational qualification requirement. The only eligibility criterion is a minimum age of 18 years. Class 10 level English proficiency is desirable but not mandatory.

Ques. I want to learn Russian for a job opportunity in Russia. Will CRUL be sufficient?

Ans. CRUL provides a solid foundation in Russian grammar, phonetics, and basic communication skills at a beginner level. For professional or advanced proficiency, you may need to pursue higher-level Russian language courses after completing CRUL. It is a good starting point for anyone planning to work or study in Russia.

Ques. Are there audio-visual materials provided with the CRUL programme?

Ans. Yes. The CRUL programme uses bilingual (Russian/English) self-learning material integrated with audio-visual components to enhance listening and speaking skills. Digital study materials are also accessible through eGyanKosh (egyankosh.ac.in).

Ques. How is the CRUL examination conducted? Is it written or oral?

Ans. The CRUL examination is conducted as a Term-End Examination (TEE) by IGNOU, which is a written examination held twice a year in June and December. Students must also submit assignments as part of continuous assessment. There is no separate oral/viva examination in the standard ODL mode.

Ques. Can I pursue CRUL along with another IGNOU programme simultaneously?

Ans. Yes. IGNOU generally allows students to pursue two programmes simultaneously, provided there are no conflicts in study centre requirements or examination schedules. CRUL, being a short 6-month certificate, can be conveniently pursued alongside another IGNOU programme.

Ques. I missed the January 2026 session. When is the next admission for CRUL?

Ans. The next admission cycle is the July 2026 session, expected to open in June 2026 with a tentative last date in July/August 2026. Keep checking ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in for the official announcement.

How to change IGNOU subject/course/medium?

Dev Anand

how to change subject/course/medium at IGNOU:

IGNOU allows changes in certain circumstances:

  • Subject change: possible within the first 30 days of admission for the current session. visit your regional center or apply through ignou.ac.in ? student zone ? program change/subject change
  • Program/course change: if you want to switch to a completely different program (e.g., BA to BCA), you generally cannot transfer — you must re-apply for the new program fresh. some provisions exist within the same school/faculty
  • Medium change: can typically be changed with a written request to your regional study center

the annual window for changes is narrow — usually the first month of each admission cycle (Jan or July). after the window, changes are not generally accepted. visit ignou.ac.in ? student support or your nearest IGNOU regional center. bring your enrollment ID and relevant documents. call your regional center to confirm the current process as IGNOU procedures can vary slightly by center.
