The CSE lab had around 50-60 computers in one room. The hostels were under renovation and he enjoyed the cool breeze from the River Ganga at the back of the college. There were many places to hang around near the campus like malls and playgrounds. Although he found the campus to be a bit cramped, he was impressed by the facilities and the cooperative staff.

Campus : The NIT Patna campus is tiny around 45 acres only. However, the campus has all basic facilities like a canteen, Nescafe spot, playground, basketball court, and an ATM.
Academics : The academic ambiance is not very rigorous as all the students are busy with different activities like coding, playing games, gym and sports, preparations for competitive exams, etc As a result studies are given the least preference here.
Faculty : The professors aren't interested in teaching at all and no kind of research work is encouraged by them.
Competitive exams: NIT Patna has a culture that promotes the preparation of Civil services exams and other competitive exams.
Placements : NIT Patna Placements 2023 is in progress. Till now, 120+ recruiters participated in the placement drive & placed 609 students. NIT Patna's highest package stood at INR 52 LPA whereas NIT Patna's average package stood at INR 14 LPA. Some of the participating top recruiters included ONGC, Bharat Electronics, Google, etc.
Campus life: NIT Patna’s annual techno-cultural fests Corona and Melange are held at a decent level. The institute has provisions for all kinds of indoor and outdoor sports.
Hostels: Boys are allotted double occupancy rooms while girls are offered quad sharing is there. The girl's hostel is within the campus and the boys' hostel is at 2 2-minute walking distance.

Overall, NIT Patna offers an average campus life and opportunities.

The tips I’m going to share below will really help you, given that you religiously follow them-

Before joining, revise these topics from 11th and 12th- Calculus, Algebra, Matrices, Trigonometry, Physical and Organic Chemistry, Physics (Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics), and English (Grammar and Written Composition).
Before the start of classes, start learning C language. It is the syllabus of sem-1.
Download GeeksforGeeks to learn coding. You’ll get help with algorithms, data structures, and interview preparation.
As you continue learning the C language, start problem-solving on Hackerrank. This is an online platform to practice coding.
You’ll be taught Java in semester 2. Learn it on your own in advance and solve related problems on Hackerrank.

My friend in Patna got selected easily for NIT Parna because of the Home State quota. Later in the 3rd - 4th round she got IIIT Jabalpur and not IIIT Lucknow. She went to IIIT Jabalpur after JoSAA rounds but kept her hopes high for the CSAB rounds. Finally, in the Spot round, she got IIIT Lucknow and she could not have been happier. To date, she never regrets choosing it over NIT Patna.

When considering these two options, you’ll have to look closely at the course as well as the college-

MME at NIT Trichy- NIT Trichy is a top NIT. It is a well-renowned institution with the best of students, faculty, and campus.

The campus is huge, which is great for an amazing campus life. However, there’s always a problem with commuting to big campuses.
NIT Trichy offers good sports and extracurricular facilities. But talking about MME, the faculty isn’t that great at NIT Trichy.
MME offers fewer placements and not-so-good opportunities in India. However, for higher education/ job opportunities abroad, the chances are better. Try to find out if you can go for internal sliding at NIT Trichy.

CSE at NIT Patna- Here are some pros and cons of joining NIT Patna for your CSE-

Campus- The campus is pretty average, neither good nor bad. It is small when compared to NIT Trichy.

Placements- The placements for CSE are very good at present.

Faculty and Teaching Standards- The faculty of NIT Patna is average and the teaching standards aren’t really good.

Co-curricular activities - NIT Patna also offers co-curricular facilities and you’ll enjoy participating in them.

Wi-Fi, library, other facilities- Facilities aren’t top-notch overall. However, the central library has a good collection of competitive, academic and general books. It has high speed Wifi and AC.

Clubs - The clubs aren’t top-notch. There are cultural and technical clubs. Hackslash is a club that conducts events and sessions on tech and coding.

CSE from NIT Patna will offer good placement opportunities. But you’ll have to compromise on an amazing campus and a great campus life. I recommend you talk with the alumni from both these courses and try to find out some more perks that I might’ve missed out on.
