Campus life: Absolutely fantastic!
Academics: It really varies from person to person. Overall, it's quite good. You'll encounter both bookworms and those who love to have fun. There are some really smart students too, but they often blend in with the studious crowd. Overall, it's pretty decent!
I've been at NIT Trichy for a week, and it's been pretty busy, but I've already made a lot of friends. The campus is full of people from various places, and you'll hear many different languages. The Tamil folks are super friendly; my roommate is from Chennai and doesn't speak Hindi, yet we get along great. Knowing English helps a lot as most people communicate in it.
In the first year, we mainly get South Indian food at the mess. The food is okay, though it might not always be to the taste of those from the north. The campus is massive, around 800 acres, and I doubt I can see all of it in four years. Since I can't ride a bike yet, I get tired walking everywhere. The lecture hall is about 1.5 km from my hostel, so it takes about 15 minutes on foot.
The campus has all the facilities you could need, but it's up to you to make the most of them. If you want to join in other activities, managing your time well is key. There are lots of events; we even went on a fresher's trip to Tanjore, and there's always something happening.
Just a heads-up: even after clearing JEE, there's a lot of studying to do here, but there's also plenty of fun to be had if you manage your time well. I've had a blast this first week. Right now, I'm off to work on some matrix problems. Catch you later!
Hey there,
If you're curious about the computer science program at NIT Hamirpur, it's got a solid reputation, especially with placements. In 2023, about 96.81% of students in this department landed jobs, with the average salary package being 9 LPA. The starting salaries are typically around 6 LPA, and some lucky folks even snagged offers up to 1.12 crores annually. Almost all CSE students secure jobs each year, with the average offer bumping up to 16 LPA and the top offer reaching 1.5 crores on campus. Companies like JIO and JPMorgan Chase are known to recruit from there. The campus is also known for its supportive culture, friendly seniors, and strong alumni connections.
Hope this info helps you.
Sure, I'll give you a quick rundown. Keep in mind, experiences can vary a lot depending on the department.
The faculty quality is just slightly above average, not quite up to the NIT standard. While teachers may struggle to create engaging classes, many are supportive if you show interest beyond the basics.
Students connect well with each other, especially within the same batch and across different years. However, there's little interaction with nearby institutions like NIT Raipur or IIM Raipur, and the connection with the administration is just okay. There are some committees that work closely with the administration to help with various issues.
For core branches like mining and civil, industry connections are decent, but other fields may not have as much. Living conditions are challenging at first, but you adapt and learn a lot from the experience. The library isn't well-maintained, and online resources are lacking, pushing students to rely more on faculty.
Infrastructure needs work, with labs and hostels not in great shape, though efforts are being made to improve. Placement-wise, internships are mainly available for IT and CS students, with 70% getting campus offers and another 10% finding jobs off-campus. Few land their dream careers right away.
The alumni network is weak, but more companies are visiting recently. Despite the challenges, it's a good environment for growth due to low competition, allowing you to learn and develop skills.
On a scale of 5, with top IITs being a 5, NIT Raipur would be around 3.5.
What do you mean by "outsider"? That's a bit silly! NIT Hamirpur is a national institute managed by the central government for all Indian citizens. If you're staying in the hostel, you have the option to transfer your voter ID and vote in that area if you wish.
The situation you're thinking of was more like what happened at NIT Srinagar before Article 370 was revoked. You might have seen the news about the Indian flag issues there. But remember, a firm approach can handle that "outsider" mindset effectively. In NIT Srinagar, the presence of the Indian Army and CRPF helped deal with such problems, and things are stable now.
These "outsider" issues mainly arise when:
Mind-blowing things about NIT Hamirpur.
The campus is just amazing effortlessly. People and things are often seen through stereotypes here, and it's hard to explain this fully. NITH is on a growth path, much like India itself. There's a fun twist to fitness here; you get a workout just by walking to and from the lecture halls a few times a day, five days a week! If you're in a club, it's awesome, but other clubs, especially the one your best friend is in, may not seem as cool. The top floor of the lecture hall has air conditioning, which is a big plus. In the ECE Department's VLSI lab, you get to enjoy comfy chairs that move and spin, and the library reading halls have them too. Monkeys and humans coexist here peacefully. I've been here for two years, and these are the things I find truly fascinating.
Honestly, it's not great. The teaching quality isn't impressive. Students who just memorize can still get high grades (like me with a 9 CGPA). The events and activities are outdated and dull. It's just four years that feel like a waste. Plus, the job placements are really disappointing.

NIT Agartala would be a better option than NIT Arunachal Pradesh. Though civil engineering is a popular course than Production engineering based on ranking and placement NIT Agartala campus comes before NIT Arunachal Pradesh.
According to the NIRF report 2023, NIT Agartala ranked 91 and NIT Arunachal Pradesh ranked 101 among all the top engineering colleges of India.
In NIT Agartala companies such as Google, Amazon, Adobe, BYJUs, Wipro, TCS, and LinkedIn have visited the campus. The average package is 15 lakhs and the highest package is 52 lakhs. Around 90% of students get placed this year. Whereas last year at NIT Arunachal Pradesh 48.3% of students got placed.
After completing the course from NIT Agartala in production engineering will offer a good placement offer as well as a completion certificate from a prestigious institution.
My sister is an alumnus of NIT Arunachal Pradesh and has also visited NIT Silchar several times. As per her experience, the preference order to follow while making a choice between these institutes should be
The reason I placed NIT Silchar first is because it has better rankings, and even the connectivity issues have been resolved. One can now reach Silchar by road, train and via air. This has improved the placement scenario to a great extent.
