- Placement support ( They ask extra money for the placement services)
- The lecture structure ( 2 lectures per week, one in class and other online)
- Hoped for more practical experiences while learning.
Campus Life
-
There are total of 3 campus for our Uni
Preston ( main campus)
Burnley
and Westlake - In terms of facilities we got sports hall, Library with computer labs, student center for any query, student union for chill and Starbucks and a club called 53degree.
- Almost every festival is celebrated on the campus, regardless of any country.
- Uclan got a lot of sports, you mention they got it
- I have represented UCLan at badminton and cricket.
Accommodation
- I used a platform called university living to find accommodation.
- Monthly rate was around 490GBP which included all the bills which included Wifi, water, electricity. Rooms were fully furnished and with proper equipped kitchen.
- Living in that accommodation was one of my best time, I surely recommend it other students to try for student accommodations and choose an En-Suite room.
- My accommodation was 3-4 walk from my university.

Likes
- All time access to library which helped in preparing for focussing on studies.
- The various cultural societies helped to nurture liking for far east culture like Korean society, Japanese society which celebrated their traditional events to much fanfare thus incorporating world class inclusivity.
- The university gym access was very helpful as it helped to learn new sport and keep fit.
Dislikes
- Limited face to face sessions during Covid time.
- Limited knowledge of university counsellors to International student job needs
- Limited staff availability on weekends.
Campus Life
- Our university had two campuses- one in Preston and the other in Burnley.
- Library sports were easily accessible on the campus.
- I lived on the Preston campus, which was bustling with students.
- Indian society was popular among our cohort, where events such as Bollywood night or food fest events would happen, which we used to relish.
Accommodation
- Although online platforms were there, they charged exorbitant prices. I had a family member who was abroad and had some knowledge of the house rates so it helped to get a reasonable accommodation near to university premises.
- Some challenges initially faced were that most of the housemates were international students from other countries so it took some time to get familiar.
Likes
- Dedicated teams for student support, careers team, well being team ,academic registry, propellor (for aspiring entrepreuners)and a seperate students union which play a major role in overall growth
- Library has a wide range of resources both online and offline. The library is open 24x7 except during Christmas. They were instances when I needed a book , it was not available in the library and the librarian purchased it on behalf of the university
- UCLan has a huge campus and excellent infrastructre, the university has many building for different branches. The best building is student center which gives co working space vibes. Do google it and you will understand what I am talking about :)
Dislikes
- More number of international students and less home students
- Its not busy like big cities, but that makes the cost of living affordable
- They accept more students for each course
Campus Life
- UCLan has 5 campuses based in Preston, Burnley, Westlakes, Cyprus, and London. The university has an excellent infrastructure of many campus buildings, a library consisting of physical books and a computer lab, science labs, and teaching rooms.
- They have a huge sports arena, a free gym for all students, and a separate student union building. The student centre and library have many places to study and have meetings. The student centre has facilities like student support, a well-being team, a careers team, a rooftop terrace garden, etc. The university conducts many events, such as welcome week, careers fair, and many fun activities by the student union.
- I would recommend going through the university website and the student union's website to understand more about student life and events at the university.
- I completed my course in MBA with work-based learning. After completion of my course, I secured a job at University of Central Lancashire and worked as a project administrator from September 2022 to December 2023 with a starting salary of £23500 per annum.
- Later, I have secured a role with the School of Medicine and Dentistry as a Professionalism Support Officer from October 2023 to June 2024 with a salary of £25700 per annum. Currently I am a freelancing consultant and entrepreneur, based in India.

Likes
- Diversity , equality and inclusivity.
- Campus - especially the all new student centre.
- Faculties - UCLan has got an amazing friendly faculties, they understands and supports the need of each and every student.
Dislikes
- Lecture timings - some days there used to be multiple lectures and some ends at around 8pm (6-8pm slot).
- Placement support for international students.
- Lack of communication about Mitigating circumstances (MC) and Change of circumstances process especially to international students
Campus Life
- The UCLan has a very calm, inclusive but, diverse campus environment that offers students numerous opportunities to learn and grow.
- In terms of facilities, the Preston campus is well equipped with 24X7 access to the library, state-of-the-art sports facilities at Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre including a massive gym, badminton court, tennis court and much more and an exciting football ground.
- The Student Centre building offers quiet private pods with wireless chargers and an ambience light. In terms of Clubs and Societies- the UCLan Students Union offers a wide range of diverse clubs/societies, from arts and media, fashion and sports and business management to religious and atheist groups.
- They have a wide variety of clubs, and I was actively part of many of these societies, including business and management, film society, Indian society and a lot more. I was also the chair and treasurer at some point. and I was also holding the elected position of student union open councillor.
Accommodation
- I managed to find accommodation on Openrent.co.uk There are a set of websites that can help in finding suitable accommodation, such as Spareroom, Rightmove, and Facebook marketplace.
- The main challenge I faced was to find a local guarantor for the accommodation, most of the landlords prefer to give rooms to those students who have a local guarantor or to someone who can give a reference and take the responsibility of the student.
Likes
- Some professors went above and beyond to provide exceptional support and guidance.
- The professional placement program offered invaluable practical experience and international exposure.
- The campus facilities, safety measures and supportive student services enhanced the overall experience.
Dislikes
- Certain courses focused more on theory rather than practical application.
- During my tenure, the post study visa option was unavailable which limited career opportunities.
- Some processes or systems could have been more streamlined for international students.
Campus Life
Two campuses were there. One in Cyprus and one in the United Kingdom 24/7 library and medical facilities were there; a Sportscard was given along with a gym and Zumba facilities. Welcome Week Fest, the Indian Cultural Society club, used to organise all the Indian festivals with great joy. The contest for CR and the president of the student union were also there. Regular competitions and networking events used to happen to upskill.
- Some of the students had good connections, so they tied up with the sponsorship providers for the working opportunity, but for half of the class, it was really difficult to get one.
- There were many reasons; students used to get rejected, and they used to think that it was a kind of discrimination, but actually, it was a lack of experience and resume formatting errors as per the desired role. Language and accent were the barriers for some.
- The lowest salary was the minimum wage, and the highest was 14000 to 18000 GBP annually. Only 40% of the class secured a full-time opportunity, and hence, for some of them, it was very difficult to complete the module on professional placement reflection.
- Later on, for those who could not get the job, the professional placement was changed to complete some mandatory theoretical additional module as part of the credit system completion.

Likes
- Mainly because they mentioned that they will provide internships. And also comparatively the tuition fee was less
Campus Life
About campus life it was all good. I had a lot of new experiences. And my favorite place is library. I love spending time in library so quiet and peaceful. Wifi facilities are available and I don't know much about sports I'm not very interested in that particular area. And yes the canteen was amazing.
Accommodation
Accommodation was okay. I had friends so we took a house and we stayed there for almost 1year after that me and one of my friend moved to University accommodation. And it was amazing but little expensive though.
Accommodation
Outside accommodation is good and cheap, university halls are abit expensive and they only allow one person with you as a friend to work on your studies except that no one allowed with you
My fate bad that’s why I chosen this university. Consultancy people told as this is the best university for international students but the complete university have Indian students in all core engineering and management courses
