- I genuinely loved the amazing infrastructure of the university from ancient buildings to modern labs and classrooms.
- Student life experience was one of the key features of Bangor including outdoor activities, student clubs, and events.
- Well-accessible libraries (both online and offline) have been such a positive experience for me personally as I was never worried about finding research journals and course specific books.
Dislikes
- Bangor hardly had any cons but I disliked too much walking around the university for different lectures as buildings of the university are spread all over the hilly town.
- I also did not like the huge gap in teacher-student ratio because it made it difficult to interact with the teachers personally due to large number of students.
Campus Life
- The university has one main campus. It included various departments all over the town, some in upper Bangor and some in lower Bangor. The campus is well equipped with libraries, sports facilities, a hospital and a beautiful landscape.
- It organizes various fests and events throughout the year, including garba nights and diwali party. Student community is very diverse and happening.
Fees
- For the academic year 2020-21, my tuition fees were £17,500, and my accommodation was £650 per month. There was an option to pay it in installments throughout the year.
- The estimate of monthly expenditure was roughly around £800-1000, including food, commute, leisure, and rent; however, it is subjective and depends from person to person. However, Bangor is a small town and easily accessible by walking, so transportation expenses are minimal.

Likes
- I chose Bangor University because it has the largest psychology department in all of UK independent of the British Psychological Society. It is also the oldest university to give out joint honours degree with psychology which made me trust their course more than other universities. The university also was very helpful throughout my entire application process. I also was very drawn to the location of the university which was in a quiet city in North Wales, away from the metropolitan pace of other more popular cities in the UK.
- I loved the peace and quiet of the location of the University - I had forgotten the sound of traffic in those three years. Our lecturers would recommend places we could go to for wellbeing walks and to destress during exam season. There was academic support available throughout the year for additional help for our assignments and exam preparation. I would not recommend Bangor to someone that thrives in a fast-paced life with a lot of social stimulation but if you are looking for a quiet place away from everything then Bangor is your place to go - it is surrounded by mountains on one side and the sea on the other!
Dislikes
- After moving from India, I initially disliked how few people lived in the city or how it was not as busy as a metropolitan city, but I eventually grew to like it. It is far from London, Manchester and Cardiff and it takes atleast two hours to get to them but there are regular trains and the university has student pick-up services during the intake season from the major airports that students can avail.
Overview
I would describe my experience at Bangor University as life-changing. I grew up and became a functioning adult in those three years. I remember restarting my university journey at 19 as being slightly out of touch with how the world worked after having grown up in a family that took care of everything for me till the day I left the country. I learned how to make a bank account, manage my finances, adapt to an unfamiliar land with unfamiliar people, make food that nourished me, make friends who did not have the same cultural background, and take care of myself in those years. I walked out at 21 years of age a lot more grounded and in tune with the world around me and that was all because Bangor University had given me the chance to learn and grow despite the initial trip-up. The staff, both academic and non-academic, were very patient and the local people in the city were very warm in those cold temperatures. I remember questioning whether I had made the right decision of leaving everything behind after my first week in my first year in 2018, and nearly five and a half years later being forever grateful to my younger self for choosing Bangor, a place I still call home and visit at least once a year, and I think that says everything about my overall experience at my university.
Campus Life
The university has lots of clubs and societies that students can join for free, the libraries and communal workspaces have 24 hour access. Gym memberships are included in rent if you live on campus. There is wifi available on all university buildings and accommodation sites. There are research facilities that students can get involved in either by participating in research, or working as an assistant in them.
Overview
I was very keen on pursuing a college that is a strong school of Psychology. Bangor University is one of the top universities in the UK that has a great department of Psychology. Also, keeping in mind the financial aspect, not being a university in London, it got down my living expenditure by an average of 30%. And Wales is beautiful. For anyone who is a lover of nature, this is the place to be in.
Fees
£17,800 is the program fee.
Overview
Very highly ranked against other universities for my subject with a lower entry grade. Outside of a major city which I wanted, living most of your life in London is a real pain and I needed a getaway.
Fees
9000 a year, every year for tuition. My student loan gave me around 3300 a year which didn't even cover my rent, so I had to supplement the shortfall in that and food/expenses by working whilst also studying.
