Likes
- The Campus is huge and reminds one of a beautiful city castle.
- The library is massive, and one can find texts you usually will not find otherwise.
- There is good amount of greenery and students can sit anywhere in the campus.
Dislikes
- One of the buildings is extremely confusing to navigate and finding my way to class was a task.
- The distance between buildings felt like a brisk walking marathon to get there just in the nick of time.
- Winter was a hassle because walking took much longer than usual and the slopes and stairs get too slippery to make it to class in time.
Course Curriculum

- It is a mix of theoretical and practical. The course module in itself is designed in a way that there is a lot of self-study done in order for one to familiarize themselves with the course system and ways of writing assessments. Difficulty level: 8.5/10
- Positive aspects: massive coverage of concepts
- Negative aspects: 1 year is not enough to understand it all. Felt like a crash course.
- My classes were scheduled for 4 days a week. 10 am - 12 pm were morning classes, and 2 pm - 4 pm covered the afternoon classes in the first semester. The second semester had classes for 2 hours, followed by a lot of coding practice for statistics and self-study at the library.
- 30 students in the class, 3 Indians, including myself.
Fees
- I do not remember the fees.
- I do not remember but I think all options of payment are available based upon the list given.
- I used to spend about 700 pounds to pay for my rent, utility bills and groceries. But one way I could save up on the groceries was by relying on the pantry system the university has which is very helpful for international students.

- My course was updated to recent industrial and research technologies. In the second semester we were given a chance to perform a research projects and submit a thesis. The classes depends om individual courses, I had classes 4 days a week for 2 hours everyday. The class strength was 30.

- Location (Belfast), Is a great place. Not too small or to big just the right size. everything is accessible and transport system is pretty efficient. The land is not only beautiful but filled with friendly and helping people. Sufficient Jobs in the market in terms of Part-Time.
- Academic Staff Roster. The professors are absolutely the best. Many of them are industry leaders and their research is world famous. A few of the professors have written multiple book and have yearly volumes with updates. They teach amazing and have the right tools to do so.
- Facilities are world class. They have library size of a small village. Sufficient computer labs and electronic assessment centers. Classes are fully equipped with tech for teachers aids and students aid. The university has its own Student Union building as well. Has all that anyone can imagine from breakout rooms to group discussion rooms. Chill space and Union Bar. The University has its own clinic and hospital as well.
Dislikes
- Nothing particularly. Enough opportunities and university aims to improve everyday.
- The candidate needs to be open for the opportunities and keep ups killing with the community. University has all the supports in place to help but won't be served on a golden plate.

- The course is very interesting and can be quite difficult for new members to the field. Queen's does provide a pre-joining course also named INTO Queens where they train and test you with the basics for the actual course to start. Since my course is linked with ACCA and CIMA professional bodies, it is very difficult for someone to understand for new members of this course. Make sure to read through the level of the course before joining the same
- The assessment is done in a hybrid model where we have continuous assignments and written examinations every semester. The assignments are quite different from the Indian education system and can be difficult to understand once in a while. The rubrics for the marking schemes are quite complex and a proper understanding of what is required and needed has to be analysed before heading with the actual assignments. This is where the academic English comes in clutch. Make sure you attend it and get a proper understanding of critical writing and how to use Manchester phrase bank for your assignments. Referencing has to be done rightly and in-text citations play a major role.

- The difficulty level of your course curriculum is moderate with more focused on practical than theory.
- Positive aspect is that m studying the course i enjoy Chemistry and got to work in Chemistry lab. The education is open here that i can attend any class i like.
- They arrange lots of seminars , meetings that enhance my communication skills and introduce my to diverse people of different expertise.
- I am PhD student. My post doc is Indian. I have 2 supervisors one primary and one secondary. Teaching methodology is though Research update and sessions of that in every week. In our research lab in every week we discuss reaction mechanism that helps in clear concepts. After that we have one-to-one interactions with supervisor to communicate any problems.

- High Research Output: My course involved a lot of research work whether it is dry lab or wet lab, and Queen’s University Belfast had a high research output. Even the assignments and exams were devised in a way which required a lot of research and creative thinking which enriched my academic experience and allowed me to think out of the box and find the reason behind every line in the research papers. There was nothing as rote-learning, I had to logically think before writing every answer.
- State-of-the-Art Facilities: As mentioned, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology was all about lab work and the university provided access to modern labs and research equipment. There were no restrictions on the amount or type of reagents that we could use. The lab managers made sure that we had access to all the right chemicals, required for our practical. The University encouraged hands-on research. We had access to all the research papers published till date with the university email ID and could even print them free of cost at the library.
- Supportive Professors: The professors and lab managers were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They never doubted us if we made mistakes, rather would encourage us to repeat the experiments and find out the mistake on our own. They supported me when I would not obtain the desired experimental results. I went to them with the silliest of questions and they would patiently explain them till my doubts were cleared. They were instrumental in shaping my research mind and building my analytical and logical skills.
Dislikes
- High Tuition fees: The tuition fees are high for international students, which put financial burden on me and my family.
- High Accommodation and Living Costs: Student accommodations were relatively expensive as well, due to which I had to do part-time jobs to support my living costs. Even the public transport was expensive which forced me to walk most of the times even in bitter cold.
- Limited food options: The variety of food options available on campus were limited and costly.

- The course involved both theoretical and practical work and the difficulty level increased at a steady pace as we moved on from one semester to another. The theoretical classes provided a good understanding of the topics, while the practical classes involved hands-on training.
- Some positive aspects of the course were conducting experiments and analysing results, which prepared me for real-world jobs. The course did not involve rote learning at all, which allowed me to increase my creative and logical skills. Professors were approachable and highly knowledgeable, which increased my confidence and subject matter expertise. The negative aspects were none as such but sometimes the workload felt a lot, especially managing a part-time job alongside was a challenge.
- There would be 4-5 classes each week, mostly between 9 a.m. and 5pm. The thesis involved a lot of lab work and intensive experiments so sometimes I would be in the lab till 9pm.
- There were around 30 students in my class.
- The majority of students were Indians, I would say around 19-20.

- The only fees charged by Queen's are the course fees, which were £22050 in the year 2022. There were no admission fees.

Likes
- A really interesting point about QUB was their engagement with students. my department, HAPP, often organised events to make sure the students are connected and remain cordial.
- Friendly and supportive professors that made the 3 years of the degree really enjoyable and less stressful
- Teaching assistants: our TA's would usually take non-lecture classes which were less formal and more interactive. this helped us students to clarify our doubts at a more relaxed pace.
Dislikes
- The university campus is spread on a vast broken up scale. there are many buildings that are in different locations so going from one location to another with 5 minutes in hand between classes was a big challenge at times.
- The unpredictable nature of the weather would really bring down the morale of many international students and also the will to go to classes in a sudden downpour. thw winters are also unbearable at times.
- My course, in my opinion, needs to be heavily decolonised. Majority of its content is western influenced and lacks diversity. Even in talking about political instabilities in countries, very less focus is on the eastern world.

- The course was not very difficult. it was majorly theoretical, given the nature of my degree. the involved PPT’s and lectures for the entirety.
- The good part was that the professors had academic understanding and knowledge which they imparted very easily on to us. The conceptual understanding and clarity was made pretty easy by the professors as they were pretty friendly. However, given that the theoretical nature of the course and the degree there was no hands on experience provided to the students and this made the course very redundant, making it a loop of lectures and classes without any break or change in scenario.
- My course had only four Indian students that I was aware of.
- However, in other courses, there was a biggest strength or a bigger intensity of Indian students in their batch.

- My course fees kept going up each year.
- Initially it was somewhere around 15,000-16,000 GBP after some application scholarships.
- It went up to 18k GBP till my final year.
- Accommodation prices also went up each year.
- My first-year accommodation was 124 GBP per week.
- In the second year it was free for me, as I was a residential assistant, in which your rent is free for the role you take.
- In my third year, I went to a private student accommodation that was 195 GBP per week.
- The rent in student accommodations is usually per week and leases are per month.
- The rent in student accommodations gets collected either all at once or per semester, depending on which accommodation you stay in.
- However, in the first year, they collected rent in 4 quarters in the entire year.
- The buses are pretty cheap. 1-2 GBP for a one-way ticket to a not-so-far-off location.
- The day pass, which gives you unlimited rides for a day, costs 3.5 GBP
- The groceries would cost me around 40-50 per week and even 100 sometimes, depending on how much I eat out.
- Eating out would cost at least 10 GBP for one meal if you include a drink.
- Monthly expenses would be around 200-300 per month, which is controlled yet relaxed and uncompromised spending.

- • High Research Output: My course involved a lot of research work whether it is dry lab or wet lab, and Queen’s University Belfast had a high research output. Even the assignments and exams were devised in a way which required a lot of research and creative thinking which enriched my academic experience and allowed me to think out of the box and find the reason behind every line in the research papers. There was nothing as rote-learning, I had to logically think before writing every answer.
- • State-of-the-Art Facilities: As mentioned, Molecular Biology and Biotechnology was all about lab work and the university provided access to modern labs and research equipment. There were no restrictions on the amount or type of reagents that we could use. The lab managers made sure that we had access to all the right chemicals, required for our practical. The University encouraged hands-on research. We had access to all the research papers published till date with the university email ID and could even print them free of cost at the library.
- • Supportive Professors: The professors and lab managers were incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. They never doubted us if we made mistakes, rather would encourage us to repeat the experiments and find out the mistake on our own. They supported me when I would not obtain the desired experimental results. I went to them with the silliest of questions and they would patiently explain them till my doubts were cleared. They were instrumental in shaping my research mind and building my analytical and logical skills.
Dislikes
- • High Tuition fees: The tuition fees are high for international students, which put financial burden on me and my family.
- • High Accommodation and Living Costs: Student accommodations were relatively expensive as well, due to which I had to do part-time jobs to support my living costs. Even the public transport was expensive which forced me to walk most of the times even in bitter cold.
- • Limited food options: The variety of food options available on campus were limited and costly.
Course Curriculum

- The course involved both theoretical and practical work and the difficulty level increased at a steady pace as we moved on from one semester to another. The theoretical classes provided a good understanding of the topics while the practical classes involved hands-on training.
- Some positive aspects about the course was conducting experiments and analyzing results which prepared me for real world jobs. The course did not involve rote learning at all which allowed me to increase my creative and logical skills. Professors were approachable and highly knowledgeable which increased my confidence and subject matter expertise.
- The negative aspects were none as such but sometimes the workload felt a lot especially managing a part time job alongside was a challenge.
- There would be 4-5 classes each week mostly between 9am to 5pm. The thesis involved a lot of lab work and intensive experiments so sometimes I would in the lab till 9pm. There were around 30 students in my class. The majority of students were Indians, I would say around 19-20.
Fees
- The only fees charged by Queen's is the Course fees which was £22050 in the year 2022. There was no admission fees.
- Accomodation/Hostel fees - £6000
- Fees is charged on a yearly basis.
- Here is a rough breakdown of the fees: Accomodation fees - £600 (per month), Transportation - £16 (per week for bus), Food/groceries - £200 (per month), Misc. - £100 (per month).

We had real life projects on company's to help them with marketing strategy. This helped us gain real life perspective on a company's growth with a proper marketing strategy. There were guest lecturers from different companies and universities. And had great faculty onboard.
