What Students Say
Likes
- The faculty, University services and Course structure and study material is the best in the Bournemouth University.
Dislikes
- Accommodation was okay.
Course Curriculum
- Best course syllabus to global industry standards. Industrial exposure was given on a weekly basis with networking opportunities and Bournemouth University's own BFX (Bournemouth Film Festival) showcasing studios and speakers from worldwide, with case studies and industry training too.
- There was also a career fair. Digital Effects on a Postgraduate level is a highly intensive course. The classes happen Monday to Friday from 9 am to 6 pm. One or two hours of break in between. It requires intense discipline and time management to complete the assignments on time, as it is deadline-based. The university is extremely strict about copyright and plagiarism. The total number of students in my class was 44.
Admission Experience
- I am an FX artist. Bournemouth University has the best course and faculty (after learning from there) to do masters in Digital Effects.
- It's globally competitive and matches the industry standards for the VFX industry. The graduates working in high-class studios even won Oscars, BAFTAs, etc. The best and most important part of the Faculty of Media & Communication for Digital Effects is its study structure, which includes theories, practical training, camera usage, shoots, world-class infrastructure, assignments, and deadlines, instilling professional work ethics from the start of the course.
- Portfolio (Diversified), No IELTS required in my case.
Faculty
- Bournemouth University has the best of the best faculty. They are extremely supportive and approachable. They are highly professional and unbiased towards any student.
- They are there to solve our problems so that we dedicate our precious time during the completion of the course to great results. Phil Spicer, Ian Stephen, Neil Goridge, Luan Hall, etc were my faculty.
Campus Life
- Bournemouth University has two campuses-Talbot and Lansdowne. My campus was in Talbot, which is the main campus and has the Faculty of Media and Communication. There is a variety of clubs, events, and extracurricular activities happening throughout the year on the university campus, as well as in the faculty and accommodation.
- Libraries are the best on both campuses, with 24-hour access and study spaces, and online study as well. Sport facilities include a gym, sauna, aerobics, basketball, etc.
Part Time Jobs
- Part-time jobs as student ambassadors are listed on the university websites with specific hours, job descriptions as well as the application process. The university website gives authentic and updated information.
Placement
- Full-time job opportunities are dependent on a visa. Job fairs and job opportunities are available during and after the course is over. In the creative field, a portfolio speaks for the candidate. But as an international student, visa restrictions are there. Please confirm with the employer for the same.
- Methods of getting jobs are campus recruitment, internships, networking, online job portals, film festivals, summits, job sites, company sites, and social media pages, etc.
Accommodation
- I found my accommodation by university websites. I stayed in university accommodation off campus but near the campus for ease of travel to devote maximum study hours in the university.
- My accommodation included a separate room with a shared kitchen. The flatmates were friendly and supportive, expanding our multicultural connections and friendships.
Exams
- Statement of Purpose, Letter of Recommendations, CV, Cover Letter, Diversified Portfolio
Fees
- 18,000/-GBP for the course, three semesters. Accommodation fees and the cost of living are separate.
