Colleges Where I Was Accepted

Reason for choosing my college

  • I felt that the University of Surrey was the best option because of its academic record, friendly campus community, and career-focused philosophy.
  • Surrey's dedication to employability, especially through its well-known Professional Training Year, which provides students with priceless practical experience, truly impressed me.
  • During my intake year, Surrey university ranked 244 in the QS world university ranking because of this experiential learning method, graduates are not only highly educated but also in high demand by companies.
  • The campus itself is a major attraction in addition to the academics. With its cutting-edge facilities, contemporary housing, and active student body, Surrey provides a comprehensive university experience.
  • The stunning Stag Hill campus in Guildford is a motivating location to learn and develop because it finds the ideal blend between a tranquil environment and a vibrant student life.

Colleges Where I Was Rejected

Reason for Rejection

  • Financial limitations prevented me from accepting my offer from the University of Exeter.
  • The tuition costs for my course were more than I could afford, despite Exeter being a prominent Russell Group university with high rankings and top-notch academic prospects.
  • The university's reputation, research facilities, and job opportunities all pleased me, but I also had to take living expenses and housing costs into account.
  • After giving it some thought, I concluded that I could not afford to attend Exeter. Regretfully, financial help and scholarships were insufficient to close the gap.
  • Even though I was excited to start college, I had to pick a sensible choice based on cost. I decided to look at other universities that offer a balance as a consequence.

Admission Experience

  • I chose the University of Surrey in Guildford mainly because of its UK ranking (ranked among the top 15 universities in the UK in 2024), strong reputation for employability, industry connections, and student experience.
  • The Guildford area is a fantastic place to study. It’s a safe, vibrant town with the perfect mix of city amenities and scenic green spaces.
  • The university atmosphere is very pleasing with a beautiful lake and a historical cathedral, and the university is surrounded by green spaces like The Mount, Millmead Lock, Pewley Valley, and Stoke Park. I chose this country because of global recognition and world-class education.

Class Schedule

10

  • Usually there are 3-4 classes in a week but that's flexible. Normal class timings for my course are 9-6.
  • Average strength for the international business management course will be around 50-150 students. In my intake year, there were approximately 30 Indian students.
  • I used to spend around 2 hours on average on a daily basis for self-study and assignment work.

Faculty

10

  • The faculty members for my course at the University of Surrey are highly experienced, knowledgeable, and supportive.
  • There will be a personal tutor for support for every student. The best tutor for me was Pappas, Vasileios Dr. (Surrey Business Schl). I like him because I was a student with zero knowledge in business and finance-related subjects, but every day he starts class with very basic things and finishes all the questions and doubts within the time frame.
  • There are some part-time jobs in the universe itself for that; the hive and student ambassadors will help you.

Campus Life

10

  • The main campus for the Surrey university is the Stag Hill campus.
  • The university is equipped with all modern facilities. Every year there will be more than 100 different activities.
  • The Surrey Sports Park is available to all students with all kind of games.
  • There are 150+ student societies available in the university.

Part Time Jobs

  • Most of the Indian students work in Sainsbury's, Tesco, Asda, Lidl supermarkets, KFC, McDonald's, Starbucks, Five guys and other food chains or restaurants.
  • It's comparatively easy to get these part-time jobs but always try to get a part-time job that is perfectly aligned to your course stream.
  • There are a few campus part-time jobs that we can apply for through Unitemps and by using Hive facilities.
  • The Guildford area is a very good place for part-time opportunities and by using the central railway station and bus station, we can easily commute to other places like Woking, Farnham, Godalming, and West Byfleet for part-time jobs.
  • Due to the student visa regulations, students can only work 20 hours during the term time and more than 20 hours during the non-term time.
  • Students earn 12 pounds per hour as an average salary. Internships are not that easy to find for postgraduate students and for undergraduate students there will be some help from the university side.

Placement

5

  • The university of Surrey is ranked high for the employability rankings and many students secure a full time position after few months of graduating. The salary range for a full-time position is from 20000 to 40000.
  • Students typically find jobs through personal efforts by using websites like LinkedIn, indeed and university career websites.
