How I navigated life at Surrey

I applied to the following universities: City University, London - Unconditional Offer Letter - Accepted Queen's University, Belfast - Rejected (Merit-based) University of Surrey - Unconditional Offer Letter - Accepted/Admitted University of Southampton - Unconditional Offer Letter - Accepted The University of Edinburgh - Conditional Offer Letter - Accepted King's College London - Unconditional Offer Letter - Accepted University of Warwick - Rejected (Merit-based) My experience at the University of Surrey has been an eye-opener and amazingly life-changing. Overall, I think cybersec at this university is much better than most other universities. Compared to other colleges, this one had the most versatile and practically focused syllabus for Information Security. Also, the college fees were reasonable compared to those of other colleges. My favorite was Prof. Robert Granger, who gave me good guidance throughout the course of my master's degree and was my dissertation supervisor as well. You get a good experience of student life as well; there are many student communities for a wide range of activities. Also, if you opt to stay at the on-campus student accommodation, you get to connect with a lot of like-minded people. Overall, I personally had a great experience while at UoS. The admission process was very simple, just apply on the University website, upload relevant documents, wait for a few days to receive a verification phone call from the University, receive your Unconditional Offer Letter after all documents are verified and you pass through the universities standards/parameters. Finally, after accepting the offer and paying the standard advance fees, your spot at the university is secured. For this University and most others in the UK, IELTS is the most accepted exam. I had scored an average of 8.5 in my IELTS exam. The minimum score required was 7.5 or 8, i guess. Personally I had a very smooth and relaxing admission process. September Intake. It is the best intake for UK and the most popular one. It gives you the perfect time to schedule everything and be prepared to start your academic year. My admission process took about 2 months. Applying to the university and uploading documents took about 15 days. Receiving an offer letter took around 15 more days. I had applied to several colleges. i haven't received any rejection. The ones i remember are: University of Exeter- Confirmed Abirdeen University- Confirmed Brunel University- confirmed Bradford University- confirmed University of Greenwich- confirmed University of Westminster- confirmed I had applied to only selective colleges considering my requirements for the modules and course. I wanted a February admission, and hence I had limited options as well. I chose the college because: My cousin is an alumnus of the university, and their positive experience influenced my decision. The university holds a strong academic ranking and reputation. The campus offers excellent amenities and facilities for students. It provides the specific course I wanted to pursue. The admission process was easy, and one of the agents helped me. Eligibility criteria: work experience/ percentage in previous education. There were no challenges in the overall process. The updates were received via email. I had the February 2025 intake. I made the decision to pursue this course on October 24, and hence the next intake was in February. It took me 2months from scratch. I had appointed a gent for the process, and they took care of everything. For my visa, I had to keep the funds for 28 days and hence the additional 1month. It is located in a very beautiful area in North Wales, between the mountains and the sea. If someone loves the great outdoors, Bangor would be an ideal choice. Moreover, I got scholarships in the form of tuition fee waivers from the University, and also I was familiar with the University before as I did a master's degree before progressing into a PhD. University Campus is one of the most beautiful in Southern UK. The professors are industry leaders and very knowledgeable in the fields. The admission process is very smooth and the staff is very helpful throughout the process. I applied for the following universities: University of Surrey: Admitted University of Bristol: Waitlisted University of Stirling: Shortlisted  University of Hertfordshire: Shortlisted  I have chosen these colleges based on the fees and rankings and also, the University of Surrey was close to London, which helped me get part-time jobs as well. Moreover, I was dedicated towards accounting and Finance only and the modules that I was looking for was present in my university.  I chose the University of Surrey based on Rankings and the availability of my course, also the location, as it is near London. The admissions process was lengthy but not complicated, as once I applied, I got my conditional offer letter with conditions such as as;IELTS few other documents and the entry score that I needed, which was a 6.5 band overall. Other than IELTS I had to prove the completion of my bachelor’s with the help of transcripts as I applied for a master’s degree. Other than these, I believe the application wasn’t tough. Once I received my Unconditional offer letter after IELTS , I applied for CAS which I received within a week, and hence I applied for my visa, and fortunately, within 15 days, I got my visa. I took the winter intake which was not the main intake but I was quite in a hurry, as I had already left my job. However, I believe the September Intake is the best, as it is the main Intake in the UK so one will get a lot more job opportunities there.
