What Nottingham Trent Is Offering for September 2026

Nottingham Trent's scholarship portfolio for September 2026 covers undergraduate (Bachelor's) and postgraduate (Master's) students. All awards are applied as direct tuition fee reductions — not cash grants — once a student enrols. A single application form covers all scholarships a student is eligible for.

Deadlines: Rolling System With One Final Cut-Off

Nottingham Trent operates a rolling deadline system — a significant advantage for Indian students still finalising their offers. The first four deadlines for September 2026 have passed. Two remain:

Deadline Status
28 January 2026 Closed
25 February 2026 Closed
25 March 2026 Closed
22 April 2026 Closed
27 May 2026 (16:00 GMT) Open — 50 days away
24 June 2026 (16:00 GMT) Final deadline — 78 days away

Important: Applications submitted after one deadline are automatically rolled to the next. Results are communicated within five weeks of each deadline. Students who apply by 27 May will receive a decision before the final deadline — giving time to plan finances before enrolment.

You must have an offer to study at Nottingham Trent before you can apply. Students who have not yet received an offer should apply for admission immediately to allow time to receive an offer and then submit a scholarship application before 27 May.

How to Apply: What Nottingham Trent Actually Wants

Nottingham Trent's scholarship process is a single application form covering all eligible awards. The key differentiator is the 500-word scholarship statement — required for competitive Excellence Scholarships and most other awards.

What Nottingham Trent says it is looking for:

  • Academic achievements and goals
  • Authentic personal voice — not a restatement of your academic application personal statement
  • Extracurricular engagement and community contribution
  • Genuine motivation for studying at Nottingham Trent specifically

Critical warning from Nottingham Trent's official page: "We cannot accept scholarship applications including AI-generated content. The application form must be completed by individuals using your own words." Applications with AI-generated essays will not be considered.

For merit-based awards only (including the India Prestigious University Award): Students do not need to write the full essay. Fill in personal details and tick the merit award consideration box. This takes significantly less time and is worth doing even if you do not plan to apply for the competitive awards.

Key Eligibility Rules Indian Students Must Check

You are eligible if:

  • You have an offer for a full-time Bachelor's or Master's at Nottingham Trent for September 2026
  • You are classified as an international (overseas fee-paying) student
  • You are enrolling in the first year of a new course (or year 2/3 for advanced entry)

You are not eligible if:

  • Your tuition fees are being paid in full or in part by an employer, government, or funding body
  • You are a current Nottingham Trent student progressing to year two or three
  • You are enrolled at Nottingham Trent International College (NTIC) — separate scholarship routes apply
  • You have already received an external scholarship that, combined with a Nottingham Trent award, would exceed 50% of your first-year tuition

If you hold an external scholarship (e.g., a state government scholarship): You may still be eligible for a Nottingham Trent award, provided the combined total does not exceed 50% of your first-year fees. Check the terms of your external award before applying.

What to Do Now

Step 1 — Get your Nottingham Trent offer first. You cannot apply for a scholarship without an academic offer. If you do not yet have one, apply for admission at ntu.ac.uk immediately.

Step 2 — Check your course is eligible. Not all courses qualify. Verify at ntu.ac.uk/international/scholarships/eligible-courses-for-international-scholarship-scheme.

Step 3 — Apply by 27 May for maximum lead time. Applying at the May deadline gives you a decision before the final June cut-off, allowing time to plan your advance payment and enrolment finances.

Step 4 — Write your own 500-word statement. Nottingham Trent explicitly screens for AI-generated content. Write in your own voice. Focus on specific achievements, your reasons for choosing Nottingham Trent, and your post-graduation goals.

Step 5 — Tick the merit award box regardless. Even if you are not applying for the competitive Excellence Scholarship, tick the merit award consideration box. The India Prestigious University Award (up to £4,000) requires no essay and could reduce your fees by ₹4.92 lakh with minimal additional effort.
