Postgraduate decisions typically issue within two weeks of a complete application. Undergraduate applicants apply through UCAS using institution code E59.
| Milestone | Date | Notes for Indian Applicants |
|---|---|---|
| UCAS undergraduate deadline (September 2027 intake) | 13 January 2027 | Equal consideration deadline; applies to UG and PG UCAS routes |
| PG applications (January 2027 intake) | Rolling; recommended 4-6 months ahead | Direct application at napier.ac.uk; no application fee |

Edinburgh Napier University Admission Requirements for Indian Applicants 2027
Indian applicants meet standard UK entry requirements plus English language proof or an approved waiver.
- PG bachelor’s eligibility: 55% aggregate from a recognised Indian university (60% for MSc Computing with Professional Placement); equivalent to a UK 2:2 honours degree
- PG English test minimum: IELTS 6.0 overall (5.5 per component); TOEFL iBT 80 overall (0-120 legacy scale); PTE Academic 59 overall
- PG IELTS waiver: Degree taught in English within the last 2 years; or 65% or above in Class XII English for degrees 2-5 years old
- UG Class XII eligibility: 60% or above from CBSE, ISC or state boards (Indian 60% mapped to UK BBC at A Level); 75%+ eligible for Year 2 advanced entry
- UG English requirement: IELTS 6.0 or approved equivalent; waiver granted with 70% or above in Class XII English from HSC (10+2)
Key insight: The English waiver rule is one of the most generous in Scotland. Indian applicants who scored above 70% in Class XII English usually avoid IELTS entirely for undergraduate entry, saving both time and INR 15,000-17,000 in test registration fees.
Edinburgh Napier University Acceptance Rate 2027
Edinburgh Napier does not publish an official acceptance rate. Industry references consistently place the figure at around 65% (estimated figure), reflecting the university’s inclusive-access mission and modern-university heritage.
Offer rates for Indian applicants are typically higher when the 55% bachelor’s threshold plus English requirement are cleared. Popular postgraduate courses in computing and business receive higher application volumes, so meeting the minimum is not a guaranteed offer.
Reality check: Meeting the 55% bachelor’s cut-off does not guarantee an offer for MSc Computing, MSc Cyber Security or MSc International Business Management. These three courses fill fastest each cycle, so applying within the first eight weeks maximises chances.

Edinburgh Napier University Campus, Facilities and Student Life
Edinburgh Napier operates three specialist campuses within the city, each connected by frequent Lothian Buses services. Merchiston is the main hub for computing, engineering, arts and creative industries.
- Location: Merchiston, Craiglockhart and Sighthill campuses lie within a 20-minute bus radius of Edinburgh city centre and Waverley station

Reality check: Verify peer university fees and QS positions on each institution’s international pages as figures change with every academic cycle. Median salary figures reflect UK graduate labour market benchmarks, not university-specific placement data.
Edinburgh Napier stands out for its computing and cyber security portfolio, priced 10-30% below Russell Group Scottish peers. Its city-centre location and confirmed Graduate Route visa eligibility make it a strong value-per-outcome pick for Indian applicants prioritising affordability alongside post-study work rights.
Edinburgh Napier University suits Indian students seeking a career-focused Scottish education at moderate cost. Total one-year MSc investment lands between INR 27 and INR 40 lakh combined tuition and Edinburgh living. Market-median starting salaries of GBP 26,000-32,000 typically recover the outlay within a normal early-career horizon.
Indian applicants gain access to the Graduate Route visa, a growing Indian alumni network across Edinburgh and Glasgow, and Scotland’s dedicated Saltire Scholarship stream. Edinburgh’s tech and financial services employers actively recruit MSc Computing, Cyber Security and Business Management graduates. Support runs through the India Office in Hyderabad and campus welfare officers.
Edinburgh Napier is not the right pick for students prioritising Russell Group prestige or an elite global research ranking. Applicants seeking those outcomes should shortlist the University of Edinburgh or the University of Glasgow. Napier’s value lies in accessible entry standards, career-aligned taught degrees and Scottish post-study work rights.

Edinburgh Napier University Reviews

- Best in the UK for Publishing, Journalism and Public relations and it showed. (2021, The Guardian)
- We were encouraged to find internships and placements from early on. I eventually ended up with 3 different internships and a paid placement which went on for a year and proved critically important in my career.
- The placement cell is very supportive. They really go extra lengths to. prepare you for interviews, review your CVs and make sure you are prepared before applying or appearing for the interview. They also kept a check on the quality of placements and kept asking us if we were learning enough in our placements and if our goals are being met by the company. It made us feel like they were on our side (this I believe is very critical when you are in a foreign country with no safety nets or support system nearby)
Dislikes
- I wish there was a proper mixer for our class or department. There wasn't one. We didn't get to network enough with our classmates. (also because classes were hybrid due to covid but still we were going to campus every week or alternate week for impersonal classes)
- Our classroom was not very diverse.
- My dissertation supervisor wasn't supportive and she would miss critical meetings without a notice. That was very stressful.
Campus Life
- There were a lot of clubs, and they hosted parties and mixers every now and then. There were exhibitions we were mailed about. And every major thing in the university was announced in the newsletter, too. There were a lot of freebies too.
- The business school had a very nice ball at the end of the year, but ticketed. Every festival was celebrated in the Uni. The student organisations were quite active too, and you can always go there to ask for extra help with anything, and they would take care of the matter for and with you.
Fees
- My fees due after the scholarship were £15490. Accommodation changes were separate and £750 a month. No council tax, as Students as exempted. I had to pay the fee semester-wise. Or we had a choice of pre-payment as well. The monthly expenses were about £150-200 per week, including groceries, transportation, and eating out once or twice a week (depends on personal habits). The students get a lot of discounts everywhere. Totum, student universe, etc., made a real difference. Otherwise, the uni's financial aid services were there to help in case you struggled to make rent, etc.
- Also, you can get a discount on the fee if you pay in advance, too. I was further given 500 quid off because I paid the advance towards my fee early.

Likes
- Loved the atmosphere and the vibe they created for studying at the college.
- Also the infrastructure with a medieval and modern infrastructure mixed in.
Campus Life
- Great Campus life with lots of clubs and facilities. There was no sports facility that I know of on my campus - all facilities were at another campus, which I didn't use that much.
Fees
- Around 20 Lacs
Likes
- I loved how we had more discussions in class.
- This helped me to interact more and obtain a better understanding of people' perspectives on the topic.
- It helped me broaden my understanding on the subject.
Campus Life
- My university had 3 campuses. There were numerous clubs, but I didn't enrol in any. The library was good as we had access to good study material.
Fees
- 16075 pounds
Dislikes
- Firstly they told we will provide placements but no placements
Campus Life
- Events conducted on the campus are worthwhile and useful to the students
Fees
- 18 lakhs Indian rupee
Overview
I chose this college since I was able to explore so many things about the place and the value given for this course in that country and how well I can stand up for this when I finish and get into work with this valuable certificate. The education system is completely different since it’s only workshops and practicals and Theories are just not the way of teaching. Communication between the upper-level management to the students also was pretty good
Fees
15 lakh for 2 yr 6 months course
