Nursing life at AIIMS Rishikesh

The course is well structured. Labs are well maintained with modern equipments for practical exposure. Patient flow is also sufficient. Academic calendars are planned in the start to continue things in a systematic way . Exams comprise of 50 percent mcqs and 50 percent subjective paper

The 6 month internship which is part of the curriculum towrds the end is there and stipened for it is provided. Afterwards students appear for competitive exams such as NORCET etc. for landing job opportunities. In the former part also regular clinical duties at the hospital as well as community postings are there.

As we are in second year we aren't much aware about the scholarships part but there are some. Tution fee is 5200 for whole course duration with 500 for medical examination which is done before commencement of course. There are no hostel charges. Examination charges are taken once a year for professional exams

There is one intercollege fest PYREXIA around Oct and one intracollege sports fest INVICTA around May-June each year. A large variey of books are there at library which is fully air conditioned and computers are also there. Clssrooms are well equipped having smartboard , ac is present with other aids Exposure to wide range of sports and extracurricular activities is there with regular events being held. Officially there is ARSWA currently functioning which is AIIMS Rishikesh Student Welfare Association having mbbs students as their members. No official student body of nursing is there however unofficial committees still exist.

The hostel rooms are provided free of cost. One room is shared by two students till 3rd year. However, single rooms are provided in the final year. For each student, one table, one chair, one almirah, and mattress are provided. One small cupboard is also there. Mess food is good and is present in the hostel itself which is a student run cooperative mess and charges for it exist. There are other canteens also which the students can access. Hostel is compulsory for nursing students.

I had gotten DU seat through CUET but I chose this course instead. The reason for my decision was that this course seemed to have a more financially stable future with academics at one of the top institute of India. There is an all india entrance exam conducted by AIIMS Delhi having 100 questions being 30 from physics, chemistry, biology and 10 from general knowledge. There is +1 for each correct answer ans -1/3 for each incorrect one. Qualifying marks is 50 percent for general 45 for OBC and 40 for SC/ST. After that merit list is released. There are two rounds of counselling after which if seats are left vacant then open round is held.

They are all highly qualified professionals with a passion for their work. There are 100 seats in one batch and according to that the student teacher ratio is perfect. They are all supportive and guide in the best possible way. There are internal exams which are held throughout the year having two periodic tests one half yearly and one pre prof exam. At the end of academic year professional exams are held which carry 50 percent weightage in the marksheet and 50 percent are internals

One gym is there in the campus. Besides canteens exist and Nescafe outlet is also there. For nursing girls hostel timing is 10pm. Night life is not too vibrant like other places but its still having calm and serene areas nearby even the campus is quite beautiful.
