- Toilet facilities which is not same for each block. Some have good facilities but some has very poor infrastructure
- Very less time for lunch and it is around 3 30 which is not convenient.
- 85 % mandatory attendance is very tough and difficult
Course Curriculum Overview
Social work department is always different from others. We have too many conferences, different types of sessions which is relevant and useful for our career, guest lectures and so on. We too have field works which is inseparable and much more important than theory. We have visited many ngos, we have been to rural camps and study tours.
Fees and Financial Aid
1st year fees - 48000 2nd year fees - 50000 3rd year fees - 54000 There was college scholarship upto 8000 per year For general category 7250 For SC/ST category 800 Also there was pudhumai pen scholarship for government school girls.
Campus Life
Library of the college is the best one. There are many clubs like light music, Western dance, classical dance, unicef in campus, enviro club and so on. We all have sports for 2 semesters. We have GE classes which includes extra knowledge like fiction and film, image editing and animation, virtual tourism, accounts, languages, and many. We have computer labs, science labs, ncc, nss. We have too many events which supports people to earn by do some stalls in campus. We have SMC drive shanthi bhavan inside the campus which is working like ngo. We also have counselling sessions for students, infirmary, we have culturals like departmental, inter collegiate, inter departmental etc.
Admission
Stella Maris College is known to many people over India much more than other Colleges. Obviously it is one of the best institutions in Chennai. It is also very good for social work compared to others. I've many best options in Chennai though I chose stella maris for its best rank and it is very near for me.
Faculty
Every faculties in social work department is easily approachable and kind towards the students. Particularly my final year class teacher is very different from others. I'm always admire for her knowledge and her way of approaching students. Her level knowledge and experience in social work is unmatchable.
Night Life
We have green hut, white hut, OAT, stone bench, places around b block, main canteen, annai canteen, and 3 other canteens, which makes our free time more special. There 4 hostels inside the campus with all facilities.
