Course Curriculum Overview
I would rate the course curriculum around 8 out of 10 in terms of relevance. one of the main reason i chose B.tech in computer science was the wide range of subjects related to programming and modern technology. Curriculum includes important subjects l;ike programming in C/C++/Java, Data structure, Database Management Systems, Operating Systems. Curriculum includes both theoretical knowledge and practical lab sessions, which help students understand how conecpts are applied in real-world situations. Programming labs, project work and assignments help studetns develop problem solving skills. however while the curriculum provides a strong academic foundation , students still need to work on self-learning, coding practise, internships, and personal projects to be fully prepared for real-world industrty requirements. although the course curriculum is good, there are some areas where improvements can be made : More focus on practical industry-based projects Inclusion of latest technologies such as cloud computing, cyber security and data science in more details. More industry Interaction, workshops and guest lectures from professionals. Exams are moderate in difficulty. Students can easily pass exams if they are attending the classes regularly. and college follow semster system with two semester per year. Each semester includes: 2 internal exams (sessionals) Assignments and practical evaluations 1 End-Semester Final Exam marking scheme usually includes 30 marks for internal assesment and 70 marks for the final exam.
Internships Opportunities
My college provides some internship opportunities for B.tech Computer science students, especially in the later years of tge course. students usually become eligible for internship from the 5th or 6th semester. college placement cell sometimes helps by sharing intership openings while many students also apply on their own through platforms. Some companies and startups that have offers interships include TCS, wipro infosys, Tech Mahindra and a few local IT strtup. The roles offered are usually software internt. the stipend depends on the company but it generally ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 per month for most internships. During internships, students work onp practical projects such as developing websites, creating small software applications, database management tasks and testing programs. these projects help students apply the concept they learned in subjects like programming data structure and database.
Placement Experience
placements at my college are decent but not extremely high like top engineering institutes. College has a placement cell that workds to connect student swith companies and prepeare them for the recruitment process. They orgarnize activities such as resume-building workshopsm aptituted training, mock interviews, soft-skills sessions to help students become more confidebt before palcements. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the 7th semester of B.tech program. During this time, companies start visiting the campus for recruitment drives and placement interviews. before that student are encouraged to complete internships and improve their technical skills so they better prepared when placement season starts. some of the companies that have visited the campus in recent years include companies from the IT and service sector such as TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, and a few smaller software and startup companies. These companies mainly hire students for roles like software developer, system engineer, technical support engineer, and trainee engineer. the highest package offered in recent year has been around 6-8 LPA, usually offered by a good tech company or startup. Average package is around 3-4 LPA. while the package are not extremely high, they still provide a good starting point for fresh graduates entering the IT industry. In terms of placement percentage around 30-40% of students who actively participate in placements manag to get placed through campus drives. some students also prefer to apply for jobs off-campus which can sometimes lead to better oppportunities depending on their skills and projects.
Fees and Financial Aid
total yearly fees is Rs 80,000 per year. fees structure us duvuded ubti several componenets such as tution fees, admission charges, and other institutional fees. 1st year fees Rs 80,000 2nd year fees Rs 80,000 3rd year fees Rs 80,000 4th year fees Rs 80,000 Tution Fees Rs 60,000 Admission Fees Rs 5,000 Registration Fees Rs 2,000 Development Fees Rs 5,000 Lab Fees and practical fees Rs 5,000 other charges like library, exam and other activities Rs 3,000 and during college days i observed some students fees are less as compared to mine due to their cast category for SC/ST category it was around 30,000 rs to 50,000rs after the government scholarship benefits apart of this some of my batchmates applied for merit cum scholarship given to students having excellent academic performance around 25-50% of their tution fees. and their is one more scholarship Need-based Financial Assustance (for economically weaker students after submitting proof). and as mentioned earlier government scholarship (SC/ST/OBC) it is provided by state or cenrtal governament which covers partial or full tution fees.
Campus Life
My overall experience with campus life has been quite positive. College environment is freindly and supportive, which helps students feel comfortable and build good relationship with their classmates. Campus life is not only focused on academics but also provieds opportunities for students to participate in diffrent social , cultural and technical activities. Every year the college organizes annual cultural and technical festivals which bring a lot of excitement to the campus, Annual cultural festm held around februrate or march which includes activities like music performance, dance competitions, drama and other fun events where students can showcase their talents. And technical fest are organized around october to november which focuses on tehcnical competetitions such as coding contests, project exhibitions , quizzes related to technology and innovation. College library is anopther important part of campus life. It has a good collections of academic textbooks, reference books and journals related to subjects and the library also provides a quite place to study and prepare for exams or assignments. classrooms are well maintained and equipped with basic facilities like projectors, whiteboards, comfortable seating arrangements. In Some classrooms, teacher use digital presentations to exmplain topics more clearly. Computer labs are equipped with necessary software and internet connection so that students can practise programming and other technical subjects. Aprt from academics college also encourages sports abd extracurricular activities. Students can participate in games such cricket, badminton, colleyball and indoor games like chess and table tennis. Sports competitions and inter-college trounaments are organized from time to time which keeps the campus atmosphere active and energetic.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities at the college are decent and provude basic comfort for students. Rooms are generally shared by two or three students and come with basic furniture such beds, study tables abd chairs, cupboards, fans, AC, and proper lighting. Rooms are simple but comfortable enough for students to live and study. Hostel also provides Wi-Fi, Clean washrooms, and common areas where students can relaxe or study together. Mess food quality is avarage but manageable. Menu usually includes breakfast, lunch evening snacks and dinner. Common meals include like roti, rice, dal, vegerables and sometimes special dishes on weekends. While the food is not restaurant level it is hygienic and sufficient for students. Hostel registration process us very simple. Students can apply for hostel accommodation during admission by filling out a form and submitting basic documents. Hostel rooms are usually alloted based on availability. Hostel fees are affordable compared to private accommodation which makes it convenient for many students. Some students also choose to stay in PGs or rented rooms near the college. These accomodation are available in nearby localities close to the campus abd are within walking distance or a short commute. Rent is usually reasonable and depends on the type of rooms and faciltiies provided.
Admission
I chose this college mainly because it offers a Btech in computer science program with a balanced fee structure 80,000rs per year and decent academic facilities. Compared to many private colleges, fees were more affordable while still providing good infrastructure, qualified faculty, and placement support. College also has a freindly academic environment, which made it a practical choice for pusuing my engineering degree. while applying for B.tech programs, I considered a few other engineering colleges as well. I mainly applied to two or three colleges offering computer science programs in nearby regions. I received confirmed admission offers from a couple of colleges, but their fees were significantly higher or the distance from my home was greater, which made it less convenient. After comparing factors like fee structure , infrastructure and daculty quality i decided that my current college offered a better balance between cost and quality of education. Admission process for B.tech in computer science in this college is quite simple and transparent. To be eligible, students must have completed 10+2 from recognized board with the required minimum marks. Admissions are mainly based on entrance exams such as JEE Main, which is the most preferred exam among students applying for engineering programsm some seats may also be availble through state-level counseling and direct admission depending on the college policies. Overall I chose this college because it provides a good learning environment, qualified faculty, relevant curriculum, and affordable fees, which together make it a suitable option for student pursuing B.tech in Computer Science, While placements and industry exposure can still improve, college offers a good academic foundation for students who are willing to work hard and develop their skills.
Faculty
faculty to students ratio is our department was 1:30, which allows teachers to give attention to students during classes and lab sessions. most of the faculty members are well qualified with many holding M.tech or PhD degrees in computer science or related fields. relationship between students and faculty members is freindly and supportive teachers are approachable and willing to help students with doubts, assignment and project work. many professors also guide students regarding internships, coding competitions , and career opportunities. some of my favourite faculty members in my departments were : Dr Rajesh Kumar (Data structure - He explains complex problems programming concepts in a very simple and practical way. His teaching style is impressive he explains by giving real world examples which makes subject easy to understand. and 2nd Prof. Anjali Sharma she was teacher of database management systems. She focus on concept and p[ractical database applications which helps students prepare for industry requirements. comming to the course curriculum B.tech computer scienc curriculum is designed to provide a strong knowledge of computing., course includes subjects as : Programming in C / C++ an =d java Data Structure and Algorithm Database Management System Operating Systems Computer Networks Software Engineering Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning My college follows semester based exam system with two semester each year. each semester includes : Internal Exams / Sessionals: 2 exams during the semester Assignment and Practical work End Semester (Final) Exam And marking scheme is : Internal Assessment : 30 marks End Semester Exam : 70 marks internal marks are based on sessional exams, assignments, attendance and lab performance. Coming to the difficulty level of exams. exams are moderate in difficulty. Students who attend classes regulalrly and prepare well can easily pass. usually 80-90% of students pass the exam while small percentage may fail
Interview Experience
During my admission to B.tech in computer science, I did not face any group discussion or persobal interview. Admissiob process in my college is mainly based on 12th marks and entrence exam scores. Students must have completed 10+2 with physic, chemisty and maths from a recognized board to be eligble. Many students apply through JEE main, which is the most common accepted entrance exam. Admission may laso happend through state counseling or direct admission, depending on sear availability. Proceess mainly involded filling the applications form and document verification. I had to submit my 12th mark sheet, entrence exam scoreboard, ID proof and photographs. After Verifications, the college confirmed my admission and explained the fee payment process. Preparation mainly involved studying PCM subjects for tge entrance exam and maintaining good marks in 12th, which helped in securing admissiob smoothly.
Night Life
Nightlife around my college is not hective like big metro universities, but students still find ways to relace and spend time with freinds after classes. Most of the activity happens in the evening rather than very late at night because the campus has certain timing rules. Inside the campus, facilities like the library, gym, and academic buildings usually close around 7-8 PM. College cafeteria statys open a little longer, generally till 8:30 to 9PM and it is one of the most common place where students sit together. Public sitting areas and opeb spaces around the campus are also used by students in the evening for casual conversations and group study. for students stayting the the hostel like me, there are fixed in-timings for safety. Generally, hostel students are expected to return by around 9-10 PM, After that, most students relax in their rooms, watch movies, work on assignments, or spend time talking with their roommates.
