- The 75% attendance criteria. where a student is must to get 75% in all there subjects otherwise they are barred from writing the semester end exams.
- The college has very strict timings like schools or millitary if you are you will be held outside the gate and won't be allowed to attend the classes.
Course Curriculum Overview
My course in M.Sc. Chemistry was speciality in organic chemistry and it is very much relevant to our today world and is updated with present industrial and other standards, the overall course is very much comprehensible but it needs time and practice. To be honest I took organic chemistry in M.Sc. is because it just clicks with me i.e. I understand and remember is very well and can use it in my day to day life activity and even help me gain the knowledge necessary for my future use in jobs in industries. I am very well driven by the concepts of organic chemistry. This course really helped me achive that, only downside of this course was they needed to do more practicals and we didn't get much of the internship opportunities to be real world ready. They also need to correct the exams marking scheme as for criteria for passing separately in mid and end semester examination, they should implement aggregate passing marks from both end and mid semester examination.
Internships Opportunities
The only internship available for us was in semester 4 which demanded a project work report thorugh internship only and it was CSIR - CIMFR Ranchi on the topic Analysis of coal which was held just for 1 week of time period, it was an unpaid intership with just 1 certificate given at completion and no other internship opportunities was provided for us nor we were given to apply for.
Placement Experience
Our college does offer campus placements from 4th semester onwards. The companies visiting our college our mostly industry based hiring for the position of assistant and trainee for short term then after that fixed placement in that company after completing the given role. Companies such as Jindal stell, Glenmark, Tata Chemicals, Sun Pharma, etc. they do provide there on test and if we pass the test then they do a walk in interview. if we pass the interview then we were offered a role of assistant or trainee under the annual package ranging from 3 - 4.5L P.A.

Campus Life
The Overall campus life was pretty impresive. They do hold their yealy fest known as Xavier's Fest which is very popular in our city. They also celebrate many festivals and other cultural events such as sports festival, sarul, christmas, republic day, independance day, etc. they also hold many webinars and seminars to keep the students engaded and never bored. Infrastructure of college is really well maintained and they througly check every building and other infrastructure on periodic basis if there is any fault it is made note to repair or replace it soon. Students also have different clubs and groups were we can join and participate in them, like NCC, NSS, sports club (both indoor and outdoor), etc.
Admission
I choose St. Xavier's College college over any other college because of it's name (brand) plus it does regular classes and completes it's syllabus on time compared to other colleges who doesn't provide regular classes and never completes their syllabus never on time is a different matter but the whole syllabus never gets covered and most of it is left out. I am comparing it to the Ranchi College, ranchi which is under Ranchi University name as it never does regular classes and never completes it syllabus, it has no proper faculties for each subject, don't do any other extra curriculum activities hardly ever does any practical classes plus there is no internship opportunities.
Faculty
Major of the faculty members of our college were very interactive and friendly and were always ready to help and make their students learn and grow in there academics and real life scenarios. But quite few counted were very strict and wont give students much thought if there are lacking in any discipline. Faculty to student ratio was quite good i.e. 1:13. The Best faculty of our department was our H.O.D. Dr. Ushir Ranjan Sen Sir he was always very helpful and insightful. Our course structure was divided into 4 parts of 2 years i.e. from semeter 1 to semester 4 each semester having a duration of 6 months and semester having 2 exams cores 1 mid semester exam with 1/4th or half the syllabus and end semester exams with the whole course syllabus of that semester. As for the making scheme midsemester was of total 30 marks in which u need to score 17 marks to pass which included 15 marks written test and 10 marks assignment and 5 marks attendance and as for the end semester exam it was total of 70 marks in which you need to score 28 marks to pass. The whole end semester exam is written exam of 70 marks. But here is the catch you need to pass in both mid semester and end semester separately to be promoted to the next semester. But if you fail in mid semester you won't be allowed to write end semester examination and will be back a semester in that subject and next re-exam is held next with your juniors when they are giving there same semester examination and you need to give both mid and end semester examination, if you were to fail only in end semester examination then still you have to give the mid and end semester examination again.
Night Life
Our college do have a decent night life as students have evening sessiion classes. The campus have gym, 1 indoor stadium, 2 outdoor stadium and 2 basketball courts. It has also has 2 cafeterias, 1 open space hall and a quadrangle where stundents generally gather to sit and discuss, 2 different library 1 which is till graduate level and other which is separte just for P.G. students and 4 auditoriums. Our favorite places to sit and hangout are quadrangle in summer and rainy days and football court in winter days. Cafeteria food is just good enough but not best and it is pretty much affordable. The closing time for all the things is 8pm when the college gate closes.
