What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the placement like of mechanical engineering there is 100 percent placement.
- It is the best NIT for PHD or if you want to persue higher studies. There are a lot of resources. I love the collection in my library there are a lot of books on academics, religion, philosophy, editing or etc.
- The faculty are awesome they are chill and amazing. They will never scold you if you ask silly doubts with them.
Dislikes
- The first I disliked is the girl to boy ratiio like there is only 12 to 15 girls in my section where total students are 70.
- There is birds poop everywhere around campus. I have to always carry a umbrella with me.
- Patna campus size is only 34 acre and new patna bihata campus size is 125 acre. Civil and Mechanical studenents will be in patna campus and other will be in bihata campus within few years. so i disliked this discrimination.
Course Curriculum Overview
Overall relevance is high, i will say. Core subjects like power system control system build strong fundamentals. good coverage of theoretical concepts across electrical engineering and suitable for exams like GATE. Curriculum strengths emphasis on mathematic, giving long-term clarity. Regular mid sem end sem lab evaluation exam load ia manageable but continuous. Suggested improvements are should be like more industry-aligned electives and updated lab equipment. My final rating is Academically strong and concept oriented but needs better practical comprehensive. Also the teaching methods are mostly lecture-based, some labs are outdated and need to be modernization
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities in my college are mostly self-driven with limited on-campus support. Students intern in PSU, private core companies, startups and it firms through off-campus applications. Roles include electrical maintenance, power system analysis, software, research and etc. Internship stipend vary, widely PSU and corporate internships are paid but many research internships are unpaid.
Placement Experience
Placements are in my college starts from 7th semester. Core electrical engineering placements are limited, and mostly IT And specialisation Branches get more placement opportunities. The average package in my college is moderate and also depends on skill. Many students NIT Patna prefer the GATE examination and higher studies. If no campus placement is offered to me then I will plan to continue my family business and after getting my degree, I will join a good company and save money to invest in a good running business
Fees and Financial Aid
I am a general category student, and I paid appx. 1.2 or 1.25 lakh this year, which includes all facilities like mess, hostel, registration and academics. This is low because my father's income is less than 5 LPA, so I got a fee waiver. The tuition fees is 62500 per sem, but I have to pay only one third of it. SC and ST have to pay 0rs. as tuition fees, and all the other fees like caution fees(10000), registration fees(1500), admission fees(4000), development fees(30000), lab fees per sem are compulsory to pay to everyone. only what you will get is in tuition fees. In the NSP Scholarship, which I know the most, you can get up to 84000 per year if you are in the SC, ST or OBC category or if your family income is less than 5 LPA
Campus Life
Campus life in NIT Patna is academically focused with Social exposure Annual Cultural Fest and events create good interaction. There are multiple clubs Like Robotics Club, Dance Club, Guitar Club and many more clubs are there for social activities. Sports facility in my college are basic but usable, like there is a small cricket ground and in that ground there is volleyball ground and football ground. There is a separate gym for both girls and boys. Library and classroom are functional, WiFi-enabled but infrastructure is poor in Nit Patna Campus. Overall campus is More study-oriented.
Hostel Facilities
Hotels in my college are basic but functional with shared rooms and basic facilities. Mess food quality is average and repetitive but sufficient for daily needs. Hostel allotment and registration process is simple and affordable. Nearby PG exist, but hostels are safer and cheaper in Patna city
Admission
I chose National Institute of Technology Patna for low fees and strong electrical engineering base. I missed other NITs due to my rank and I do not want to prefer private colleges because they are costly. Jossa admission was transparent and merit-based. I preferred branch over the NIRF ranking
Faculty
Like if I talk about to student-to-faculty ratio, there is 1 faculty over 70 students, if I talk about lab. In 15 students lab there are 3 lab assistants and one professor. Mr Sharan Sir is the best faculty I liked him beacuse he taught me Basic Electrical Engineering in 1st sem in a very intresting manner. Until now, i cant forget his taught concepts. He is a gem for me. Mr. Kavindra sir, he is the faculty I did not like about him is the thing that he always taught us from his phone without giving us any example. Like he want us to make us a parrot without any critical thinking. He taught us Electronics Engineering. There are MID SEM and END SEM in one semester, rather than this, there are two class tests of 5-5 marks. Mid sem is quite easy to pass, like only 3 4 hours of study can pass you, but for the end sem, you have to be prepared from the very last week of the examination. The course curriculum is very relevant. Real-life engineering problems are taught in the cource.
Night Life
Nightlife in my college is disciplined. Hostels are main late night hangouts spots with group discussion, coding, assignments and casual talks. Gym, library and common areas are closed at fixed timing,s like 9:00 PM and Late-night access is denied. Canteens are open till 8:00 PM. Students can walk. Only boys are allowed to walk inside the campus till 10pm Girls are not allowed to walk in the campus after 9:00 PM. Outside campus nightlife is limited Patna is not safe for night hangouts. Security is strict.
