Likes
- Girls to Boys ratio is 2:5, There are students from all over Delhi - NCR and other states as well, thus promoting a comprehensive culture within the college.
- Faculties have adequate subject knowledge, and use personal notes for teaching. They also regularly provide notes for students to study.
- The course structure is relevant to the subject. Especially, if you choose a "specialisation" course, the elective subjects add up to be all connected and thus systematic.
Dislikes
- Regular examinations are conducted : similar to unit tests : (2+3 units), instead of midterms or semester exams.
- There is certain rigidity regarding college hours for CSE Courses: 9 - 4 regular classes,
- The course can be a bit too theoretical at times. So students have to continue with their own skill development of revising placement
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is relevant, especially with AIML currently booming all over the world, the curriculum is highly relevant. Students choosing any course: try out for courses with specialisations: the spec subjects eventually add up and provide more specific domain knowledge.
Fees and Financial Aid
Year wise fees for my batch 2022-26 was 3,00,000INR for the B.Tech CSE with specialisation in AI & ML Course. Others, there's a 10,000 counselling fee (one time only) and a 11,000 curricular activity fee (one time only) and a security deposit which is returned on graduation. There are scholarships available based on JEE Ranks, SRMJEEE Rank, or social strata/background, etc There are also payment plans like student loans, or EMI Payments.
Campus Life
National Cultural Fest: March/April : Rubaroo National Sports Fest: April/May: Khel Mahotsav National Technical Fest : October/March : Innovate/Technovate Library has several journals, publications, research papers and books. Classrooms have either a projector, or a smart board. There are several technical and cultural student clubs.
Admission
For admission in SRMIST, you must either give the SRMJEEE exam, or should have appeared in the JEE Mains exam. Percentage more than 60% in 10th, 12th is often necessary depending on the course and admission rate.
Faculty
Each class has approximately 60 students. 1 teacher teaches each subject. In elective subjects, students are divided according to their chosen subject. Faculties are welcoming and approachable: students can go to the faculty cabins, seek permission, and thn clarify/clear their doubts. There are 2/3 Internal Assessments, and a final semester exam per subject. The question paper of the final semester exam is centralised and is set by the main Chennai Campus of SRMIST
Night Life
Day Scholars are needed to leave the campus by 5-5:30 pm. Hostellers may roam around inside the campus upto 7 pm. Hostellers are then required to stay within the hostel premises up till 9 pm. Hangout places inside the college include Canteen, Cafe, Student Hub etc.
