What Students Say
Likes
- Another thing which I liked the most is the rigorous curriculum designed for specifically banking and finance students plus the active participation criteria of the college in the committees which keeps the hobbies of the students intact.
- Third positive thin which I would point out is the industry experts who visits us during the guest sessions. It basically bridges the gap between classroom learning and the industry practicality of the way that work is being done.
- The ideal Girl to Boy ratio in SSBF is 51:49
Dislikes
- I personally disliked the mismanagement of the deadlines that the college provides us which is now being taken care of under the supervision of Director maam.
- I also dislike the quality of the mess food in our campus which is becoming worse day by day
Course Curriculum Overview
Before coming to SSBF, I was working in an international bank called Bank of Montreal and when I saw the curriculum of ssbf and saw that this college is niche for banking and finance, I researched about the college and the course curriculum and decided to join the college. It not only helps working professional but also the freshers (both from commerce and non commerce background) to get a good hold and to bridge the gap between classroom studies and practical exposure.
Internships Opportunities
The internship oppertunities available with the college includes : internship with JP morgan chase and co. And the role was of analyst with the monthly stripend 60,000 rupees. BNY also came with middle office role and offered 35,000 rupees as monthly stripend. there were more companies which visited for internships : Fulora, taksh asset, fundsmart, RRR Investments, Kaima assets, Shree Rama wealth managers, K&I, etc.
Placement Experience
The placements here are decent. For internship the record stands still at 100% and for the final pacements its 95% for all the eligible students. If there wouldn't have been any placements here, I would've opted for the employement outside on my own as I have personal contacts and references in the bfsi industry.
Fees and Financial Aid
The detailed fee structure for us as a student for first year is as follows : 1. Academic fee (per annum) = 4,45,000 2. Institute deposit (Refundable) = 20,000 3. Hostel deposit (Refundable) = 20,000 4. Hostel fees (Per Annum) = 1,43,000 5. Mess fees (Per Annum) = 52,000 6. Installment = 6,80,000 The detailed fee structure for second year is as follows : 1. Academic fees = 4,45,000 2. Mess fees = 52,000 3. Installment = 4,97,000
Campus Life
If I am to talk about the campus life, I would never fall short of words because the campus life here is the best experience that one could have. The socializing aspect here is full of opportunities not only from my college but from other symbiosis colleges too. The club involvement is rigorous. There are events coming up and lined up one after the other and students do participate in them actively. The infrastructure is top notch. we have gym, badminton court, basketball court, football round, swimming pool, snooker and table tennis facilities available everyday here.
Hostel Facilities
The facilities provided in the room is decent and good. The meal quality is worst I have ever seen. The food was good only when it was our initial days in the campus. But now it has become worst. The hostels are allocated to us randomly or on a first pay first get service.
Admission
I chose this college because it is a niche college for banking and finance specifically. It further has other specializations like Fintech, Finserv, Insurance, etc. I personally had a keep interest over banking and finance side so I chose SSBF. I found SSBF better than other colleges as there are very few colleges who provides degree specifically in banking and finance and I am also getting the brand value of Symbiosis, So it was te best choice I made. I also applied to other symbiosis colleges including SIBM, SIDTM and SIMS. What went wrong was my percentile in the entrance. The admission process of SSBF includes GEPI (Group Excercise and Personal Interview). Group excercise is conducted first and then there comes personal interview in a single day only.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio currently is 1:17. Me, being the class representative, feel that the faculty is quite approachable but for other students I feel that the Class representative is the only bridge that clears any important communication. Despite that I feel that the faculty is approachable to other students as well. The student faculty relationship is good. I liked Deepa maam and Sumit sir because of their encouraging and motivating teaching style. They made certain difficult chapters so easy for me to learn. They are supportive and helpful. I also liked Neha maam and the way she teaches, using live examples from websites while teaching which attracts our attention towards the real life application of the concepts being taught. I wont say disliked but there is a faculty which I feel needs a little improvement. His name is Girish Phatak sir. His subject knowledge and intellect is commendable but more than half of the batch faces difficulty in understanding few concepts from him. The exam pattern include mid term and end term. The exams are moderate to difficult. Whole batch cleared the mid terms.
Interview Experience
Yes, I faced Group exercise and Personal interview before my selection at SSBF. My topic of the GD was the role of technologies in bfsi sector. I was asked more on my work experienced side during my personal interview and then few general questions on finance. I prepared these rounds in my coaching center and at home.
Night Life
The nightlife here is amazing and full of people and experiences. Gyms are usually closed at 9 pm. we have mid night cafeteria which is opened till 1:30 am and its the hangout spot for all the students. Library is 24*7 accessible. Hostel timings are usually 2-3 am. but the entry time inside the campus is 11 pm on weekdays and 11:30 pm on weekends. The locality is for sure safe to roam around at night and there are many places to hang around here like camp area, pashan lake, baner hills, etc.
