Course Curriculum Overview

5

There is theoritical as well as practical learning. So, we get a hands-on experience of the learning. We get deadlines for each project which helps us prepare for industry level tasks. Our Design Department organises a workshop every year in the month of December which has a list of various events and helps students learn something different from their daily course.

Internships Opportunities

4

Six months on-site internship under the name Industrial Training is scheduled for the last semester of the college. Roles and companies are offered based on the course a particular student is studying. Also a student has to return to the campus to appear for final exams after the internship in the month of April-May.

Placement Experience

3

Students are eligible for college placements in the final year. Industrial training of 6 months is also given. Companies like Zee Media, Raymonds, The Yellow Tree, Aditya Birla Group make an offer and visit the design department.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid the tuition fees this year as 139000, other fees as 4000, development fees as 41000 and hostel charges(mess, electricity and water, room rent and campus fee) as 45000. Hence the total fees is 229400 which is split into 1st and 2nd installment (semester-wise).

Campus Life

5

Campus life is good and engaging. A student of Banasthali Vidyapith can never get bored or feel lost. There are so many things to do. There are five fold (extra-curricular) activities like singing, dancing, sports, aviation and many more. Every festival is celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. There are a list of activities a student can take part in every semester. After college hours, these activities are there for a student to change and relax their mind.

Hostel Facilities

5

Room has a bed, a study table with study light, a charging socket. Rooms are available as 2-seater, 3-seater and 4-seater with light and fans accordingly. There are no AC or cooler rooms. Mess food quality is not good and only vegetarian food is served and available within the campus. Tuesdays are weekly holiday and we get a slightly better food on Tuesdays.

Admission

I had appeared for NID entrance exam. It is every designers dream college, for sure. I could not clear the entrance exam and was left behind by just 15 marks. I was selected for MIT-ADT Ujjain, but the fees over there is too high and I could not afford that. However, I was selected at Banasthali Vidyapith which offers good quality course at a comparatively cheap amount than other design colleges in India.

Faculty

4

The faculty-to-student ratio depends on the department of study. there are various departments. The faculty, almost all, is friendly and approachable. There are 2 periodical tests of 10-10 marks each and a final semester exam per semester. The exam pattern is strict and it is necessary to start studying from the very beginning to cope with the class standards.

Interview Experience

5

It was based on merit for my course. However, there was counselling session and an interview upon selection as a part of admission process. Interview included general questions like name, interests, hobbies etc. I honestly did not prepare for this and did not even had the idea that I would have to appear for the same but I came out with flying colours!

Night Life

4

Every department has its own library and there is a Central Library which comprises books from all fields alongwith previous year question papers to help a student prepare well for examinations. There is a Gym with multiple equipments which opens between 6 - 8 am in the morning and 5-8 pm in the evening. There are cafeterias which offer good quality vegetarian food. Hostel gate shuts at 8:30 pm in the evening.

Placement Experience:

So, the students are eligible for placements after the 8th semester, which is after they graduate. As for Fashion Communication (FC), the companies range from news channels like NDTV, to companies like Shopper's Stop, Magazine outlets like Vogue, and Media channels like MTV, almost every sub field requires FC students, given the vast area of our studies. You can get the proper details on Official NIFT FC website, since these are just the details from the top of my head. Also, I have to admit I'm not very well informed about the placement situations or the statistical numbers, but as far as I have heard from the seniors, almost every graduate leaves with a job, or chooses to get into freelancing. The highest package received was by one of my seniors, which is 24lpa, and the average is approx 15lpa. As for my plans after getting my degree, I'm still exploring, since I'm in sem 4, and only halfway thru my degree. I'm leaning towards either Fashion Journalism, Styling, PR and Brand Management or Creative Direction, but I'm still keeping my options open.

Students become eligible for campus placement from 3rd year. The white crow is one of the best company who takes students. Highest package is 30000-40000 and the lowest package is 15000-20000. 80% of students get placements. I want to further pursue my higher studies in masters in fashion designing.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum would prepare you 60% for the real world and real problems that are faced in actual fields because the basic things are taught once you go do a job the problems are quite different then what we think. We aren't taught what or do if the cutting team cut the pattern in the wrong orientation and now the flowers are facing down.
