Course Curriculum Overview

The main thing this college or any other college for that matter should do is host people from different walks of life and ask them to brief the students about whatever great things they know. You should also prepare your students for different life skills. A webinar on how to budget properly, how to invest, how to survive in a jungle etc. The practicals that were given to us held very less value in my opinon. It seemed as if we are just doing the practicals for the sake of it.

Class Size: 520Course Fees: INR 50000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees for a single year was approxiamately 15000. So for the entire course I ended up paying around 45000. We had to buy our practical notebooks from the college which costed 10 inr. I bought around 6 such practical notebooks every semester i.e 360 inr paid for these notebooks. Parking charges were 5 inr

Campus Life

We had a festival called spandan which was not a very large scale festival. Our campus life was good since it was a campus for multiple colleges. And the college canteen made it even better since the food out there was amazing.

Admission

I only applied for Symbiosis as its a reputed college and I got selected in the first list itself. I didn't opt for any other college except this one. The admission process was alright but we had to stand in queues for hours to collect our hall tickets which I didn't appreciate.

Faculty

I passed out from my college long ago and I don't exactly remember my experience with the faculty. As far as I can recall, the teachers were quite approachable. Some teachers were friendly and reasonable while a few would create unnecessary issues in my humble opinion.

Night Life

I'm not exactly aware about the night life since I would leave the college in the afternoon itself. I wasn't staying in the college hostel. Though what I heard from my friends was that it's fun to hang out with your classmates and enjoy the meal together in the college mess.

Placement Experience:

Talking about campus placement, overall rating is Excellent. Some IT companies like TATA Consulatancy Services, Infosys, Wipro, Sutherland, Eclerx. and banking companies includes ICICI AMC, ICICI Bank Pvt. Ltd., TATA AMC, used to visit college campus to conduct assessment round in college itself. Highest package was around 5 lakh per anum and average package was around 3 lakh per anum. I even got placed in TCS with 4.4 Lakh annual salary. Almost 70% of bachmates was placed with more than average package and there were good opportunity for science background also. After getting degree i worked for 1.5 years and now i'm going to persue my career in management roles.

Course Curriculum Overview:

This course is recommended for the students who want to pursue a career in the finance field or if someone who is looking to a course like CFA, this bachelors degree becomes handy. This course teaches you about the financial spectrum of the whole world and gives you an intricate understanding about different financial instruments and their relevance in the society. It teaches one of the most sought after skills in today's world, that is financial literacy. Still I think some of the subjects introduced under the NEP are completely irrelevant such as EVS and IKS. We as college students need to give quality time on some professional subjects, not that these subjects are not important but they need to be emphasised in the early classes. There are three internal exams of 10 marks each and 20 minutes for each paper. The end sem exam is of 30 marks for minor subjects and 60 marks for major subjects. Also I feel that the difficulty level is okay.

Many top firms recruit students from PGCL. Though our college is relatively new, it has been able to provide decent internships and job placements for students. In the 2018-2019 batch, the highest salary package offered was 13.5 LPA. However, for good placements, students also have to make efforts. Here's an underrated BCom college with decent placements

I was accepted into Symbiosis School of Economics,Christ University, NMIMS Navi Mumbai, BMCC and Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. My reasons for selective SCAC was- the fees was not too high, it seemed to have a good social life, Symbiosis is a brand name I considered to be pretty safe and the ACCA subjects are something I would willingly study. The application procedure of SCAC is quite simple, you have to fill the application form and then wait for the cut-offs to be announced. There are no entrance tests or interviews.
