What Students Say
Likes
- Variety of clubs-the college does organize a number of technical, cultural, and extracurricular events through its clubs.
- Lenient in giving marks in end and mid semester
- Some faculty are nice and teach better then expected
Dislikes
- Poor infrastructure- toilets are in horrible condition. The one good area with clean washrooms is restricted to use during break.
- Excessive exams- the exam schedule is exhausting. There is so much syllabus to cover that teachers don't teach anything.
- useless rules and strain on student's life
Course Curriculum Overview
I feel the course curriculum lacks relevance and needs major updates. Only a portion of the curriculum actually focuses on core programming or computer related subjects. In one semester they taught us both c and python together withut giving us much time.We are taught chemistry, biology, consitution, human values and irrelevant subjects like these.
Internships Opportunities
Internship opportunities at SRMIST are limited and largely student driven. The college does not actively provide or ensure internships for all students, especially in the early years. Most students either find interships on their own through linkedin or they rely on hackathons and coding platform to build thier portfolios.
Placement Experience
The college placement cell needs major improvement in terms of partnership, training and helping students connect with real job opportunities. For cse students maybe around 40% of the batch gets placed through college drives Average package arounds 3-4.5 LPA mostly from service based companies.
Fees and Financial Aid
I'm a B.Tech cse student at SRMIST Delhi-NCR campus. Our tuition fees per year is 2,50,000 , admission fees is 10,000, registeration fees is 10,000 , caution deposit was 10,000 , lab/ development fees was included in tuition. Total course fees was excluding hostel and transportation is 10,00,000. Yes, there has been a marginal increase in fees over the years. Tuition ranges from 1.75 to 2.5 LPA depending on rank. Management quota- 2.5-3LPA toppers from state board eligible for 100% scolarship on tuition
Campus Life
Our classroom AC does npt work properly. Our class is really conjested and has 60 students with no AC while the cloud computing or AIML class has half the students with more spacious classroom. There are very limited sports options as they don't even have badminton to play with. The clubs are nice and has a variety.
Admission
Due to limited options and time constraints during the admission season. My entrance exam rank were not highenough for the top cse branches in more competitive colleges like VIT. Lack of proper guidance. The srm name is somewhat recognized and I hoped the ncr branch would maintain similar standard.
Faculty
Many faculties seem underqualified or lack proper communication skills. They seem disinterested in teaching. A few faculty members are helpful and approachable but mostly stick to PPT. Most just go through the motion. Some just read slides without explaining concepts. The curriculum in first year is not at ALL focused on programming.
Night Life
As a day scholar I don't stay in hostel but I've experienced the general vibe around the campus. There are not many variety of shops around the campus. The gym is too crowded. The cafeteria food is overpriced. Hostel food is also not upto the mark and several case of insects have been reported.
