Dislikes
- the faculty could have been more engaging. even though the classes are regularly conducted, the professors aren't the best.
- the university doesn't guarantee placements, especially for law students as the university is recently established and still has to build a solid reputation.
- the exorbitant fee can't be afforded by everyone and the return on investment isn't as expected.
Course Curriculum Overview
I'm enrolled in BA.LLB (Hons) which is a five year course. the course curriculum is decent and provides you sufficient knowledge to deal with the real world scenarios. in addition to that, we're supposed to intern after every semester which further strengthens our understanding of how the legal system works. the college is trying to shift from the traditional teaching methods to more practical methods by assigning us presentations instead of writing assignments, writing research papers, encouraging to participate in moot courts and debates. the college follows a semester system and we have exams after every 2 months, which gives us plenty of time to explore other activities. the difficulty level varies from subject to subject. the first year exams are relatively easier if you study well enough.
Placement Experience
as far as the placements are concerned, no student can fully rely on the college as law isn't a placement oriented field in the first place. most students here prepare for judiciary or upsc after graduation and some go for further studies and doing masters in their desired area of interest. however, the college does try it's best to help students land into various internships throughout the year. ultimately, it depends upon how hard working and ambitious the individual is. the college has tie ups with a few prestigious companies like wipro, infosys etc

Campus Life
the college has a vibrant fest culture. last year an annual fest was held on which Nikita Gandhi performed. a few other celebrities also keep visiting the college. additionally, cultural events are held almost every month like JLU's got talent in which students come forward and show their talents, Holi celebration, Diwali celebration, navratri celebration, christmas celebration are common. the college hosts it's own inter-university competitions in which colleges from various states participate. talking about the student clubs, they're active throughout the year and keep organising various events. on every wednesday, we're supposed to participate in the club activities after classes. the college offers football ground, basketball court, swimming pool, gym and various other facilities for students who are atheletic. we have our own sports fest every year as well get to participate in the fests of other universities. the library is a beautiful pyramid shaped building and offers a wide range of books on various genres. you can find fiction, non fiction, academic books, newspapers, magazines, journals, articles etc. the campus is huge and the infrastructure is well maintained with lush green beauty around.
Admission
i appeared for the CLAT examination to get into the top tier national law universities as it is the dream of every law student. however, I got a decent rank in clat but not enough to secure admission into the top 10 nlus, so my next preference was private colleges. i got admission into various private universities like nirma, upes dehradun, IIL Indore etc, however I chose this college as it is in my hometown. JLU is probably the best university in central India and good for someone who wants to stay in Bhopal. I got admission into JLU on the basis of my CLAT score and even got a scholarship as I secured a rank of 2400. in addition to that, I had to appear for a personal interview and submit the necessary documents to secure admission. for those who haven't appeared for CLAT, they can give the university's own exam called JLUSAT.
Faculty
there's no stability when it comes to the faculty as it keeps changing after a few years. experiences can vary from person to person. some professors are extremely well-read and knowledgeable and can help you in your professional and as well personal growth. however, some faculties can be boring and less engaging, even rude at times. The faculty-to-student ratio is mostly 1:40. some of them have graduated from top institutes like Delhi University, national law universities, etc. Regarding examination patterns, the college follows a semester system. we have mid-sems and end-sems, including written exams and internal assessments. it's compulsory to pass internal as well as external exams to be considered passed. at the end of the year, we're given a cgpa. the college follows 75% attendance criteria, failing to adhere to this results in debarment from exams.
Interview Experience
there was a personal interview taken before admission. the PI can be given online or offline, it's a personal choice. i gave my interview on a Google meet. general questions were asked like my introduction, why did I choose this college, what are my future plans, what's my academic and family background etc etc.
Night Life
personally, I'm a day scholar but I can say that the campus life wouldn't disappoint you. the colleges conducts enough events and activities to let you interact with fellow students and make new connections. my favourite hangout spots are the canteen, library and the playground of course. the college is located in the middle of nowhere. there's a village called mindori and is surrounded by trees and forests, so roaming around probably won't be the best choice. however, the campus is sufficient enough to have fun and hang out with friends.
