Course Curriculum Overview

4

the bba course at nmims is considered to be the best in the country and it certainly meets upto its reputation and that is why i decide to join this course the curriculum ensures that we have a practical approach through our project works which helps us in facing real world applications the one suggestion i could give to this curriculum is that it can be more practical in nature instead of that same method of written tests which really doesnt bring out that creativity in students and teaching methods should be also be more practical instead of that same ppt method or text book teaching the frequency of the exams are really high which can be reduced a bit to give breathing space to the students as their difficulty level is very hard to cope with

Internships Opportunities

1

internships offered by our college will be applicable for me this summer itself because its mandatory to do it and in my first year it was mandatory to intern at an ngo meanwhile i cannot provide information for the internships given out by our college as im yet to get it in a few months time once i experience the projects and outcomes ill convey it asap

Placement Experience

2

the students in our campus become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester if its a 3 years course as per previous year data , around 5-6 companies had visited our campus and nearly 50 offers were made overall companies like deloitte and tisco and few other companies had visited and the average package ranged around 8 lakhs per annum a very less percentage of students gets placed as its difficult to reach the criteria for sitting for such placements i plan to persue my masters either in india or abroad post graduation and later on start working

Fees and Financial Aid

the first year here at Nmims i had paid 3,25,000 as the annual fee which included 1,80,000 as tuition fees and and the other fees in the remaining amount. i had come under the general class criteria and no other special category. other courses in our college like hotel management and engineering courses and psychology courses have comparatively less fees than us students of BBA and BCOM students. For example: for hotel management its 2,20,000 and for engineering courses its around 2,50,000 I am unaware of any scholarships and financial aids provided to students but very sure that there are none on merit basis

Campus Life

3

there are many fests organised all around the year from various departments in our college especially in the even semester of our academic year and some of the major ones are tvaran ( flaghsip event of the college) , margdarshak from SBM, epicuream for SOHM, prabalya from sprots committee, psychfest from the psych department etc. the library in our college consists of just books related to our academic curriculum and nothing else which makes it a little boring if needed for relaxing the facilities in the classroom is quite upto date as just like the whole building is air conditioned and the front of the class is equipped with a smart screen and a good speaker system in each classroom. there is also free wifi provided and is restricted for only academic purpose the campus is poorly equipped in terms of sports and extracurricular facilities as whatever is done related to it are done solely by students off their own interest rather than the college encouraging it and it is really bleak in the campus except for certain sports events all the clubs and departments are run by the students itself and encourages immense participation of students in events and fests and they themselves are involved in its organisation which makes it even more. this helps all the students to socialise and keeps a healthy environment in the college.

Hostel Facilities

2

the hostel is basically a lot of flats leased out in a building and used as hostel rooms. for instance the rooms are 2bhk where each room is shared by 2 students each along with a kitchenette which has a fridge , microwave, and RO. also each flat is provided with a tv and washing machine and also an instant heater in each bathroom. the menu is quite varied each week but the quality of the food is really far from what is expected to taste like and just about bareable at times students can register for hostel from the nmims website and will be allocated on first come first serve basis but it is not really worth the amount being paid for it and its better to rent a flat or live in a PG

Admission

i had applied to various colleges apart from nmims and also got into a few of them like NIIIT rajasthan , wating list for symbiosis pune , few colleges in delhi university like motilal nehru college, ramjas etc. the reason for not selecting those colleges were that the reputation of nmims for their bba course supercedes all these others yes i got rejected from some colleges like iim indore , iim ranchi and christ university where i got rejected post interview and i could not make it to the personal interview stage for the iims to get into nmims , there is an entrance called npat and for few courses like bba and bcom there is mandatory requirement of maths as a subject in your 12th class and there no other entrances for this institute. the cutoff various for each branch of nmims varies like for nmims navi mumbai its somehwhere between 1000-3500 and i had gotten 1100 finally the admission process is quite easy and you are given 2 attempts max for npat and the admissioning is all merit based and no GD or PI

Faculty

4

the faculty to student ratio in our department might be 4:50. Most of the faculty are approachable except for some but there are only a certain few to whom we can approach without much fear of getting scolded or judged. few of our professors are really helpful and its very relatable while learning from them and their way of teaching really does have great impact on the students like ishfaq sir , subhashish sir, rakhi maam and anuradha maam from SOC at the same time i dislike few professors too as they r too rigid and overly strict with their ways of teaching and most of the time it feels highly avoidable to even approach them as they will in turn point out some mistake within you itself instead talking calmly like mani maam from SOC for our batch , there are a total of 6 subjects and exams are taken on a regular period in the form of internal tests , mid terms and finally the end sem. the level of these exams are quite difficult and needs a lot of preparation which is why nearly 10-15 students each semester fail and appear for re-exams. the course is quiet relevant and effective with respect to our course

Night Life

2

there is basically just a building in the name of campus and thus the restricted exterior facilities. there is no gym , though certain weights and all are provided in the sports room but its really bare minimum and cannot be used post 7pm and places like cafeteria and library are open only till 8pm and are closed post that hostel is nearly 400m away from the campus and the in time for students in 10pm and the campus itself closes at 8pm except for certain occasions where permission needs to be taken famous hangout places in the college are the main staircase and cafeteria and common rooms on each floor. on the outside there are few stalls and a small cafe kind of place behind the campus are famously known for hangouts yes the locality is quite safe to be roaming around in the night as the night life is quite active till around 3 am each night

Placement Experience:

Placement cell is quite good. Students are eligible for placement in their last semester of course. There are many great companies that come like JP MORGAN, EY, KPMG. Average package of the college is 5-6 lacs but there are high packages according to the skills of the student. I'd like to go for master's after BMS. Different kind of roles are there for students to apply according to their interests in all the fields like finance, marketing, HR, consulting. There is training provided by the college for placemens and there is personal training for individual company interviews if required by students.

I am interested in the banking and finance since 11th because of my good accounts in this college I am able to learn the different aspects of banking and finance the college also held some mentoring about the course and career guidance. One thing I don't like is the test they took every time when one lesson got finish they took the test and us that any of the test will consider as internal and just before the exam they give so many projects and assignments and also tell us to complete the book then only they will give the internal marks and allow to write the external
