Course Curriculum Overview

3

curriculum is designed for making you industry ready as it involves several learning of several software which are really required in real world applications and when we work in our job then it will be helpful for us, example - Power bi/Tableau, SQL, M.S excel. And there are also some classes for elective courses where we can select one of the subjects where our interest is and it add one of our skills in our resume which is great and good for any individual. There are also classes for Interview preparation, Group discussion preparation and for aptitude learning as well which definitely going to help students when it comes to getting selected for the companies. Some learnings including learning of skills based courses are not done completely as faculty did not get enough time for the completion of that subject, so it affects those students who really want to learn it. Exams conducts really fast as there is only about 2 and half months or less than for a quarter, so students need to prepare for the exam in a less time which makes difficult for some subjects to learn.

Internships Opportunities

4

So in terms if internships , college and the placement department really works for us , as they bring many companies to the college and focus in students' resume making to interview preparation. Recently companies like Jindal steel, Kwality walls from HUL, COPSOL and third wave like companies have come for the students seeking internship in marketing role and HR role. Overall for internships there are many companies and opportunities for students of marketing department as mostly companies want intern for marketing, and others also get opportunities for it like finance and supply chain, they too have plenty options from college itself. Our college give us 2 months i.e June and July for the summer internship. It has been heard from the seniors in the college that Tier one companies never pay any stipend to the candidates, they might give incentives to the best performer. And some companies like third wave pay stipend upto ?15000/month but there work culture and the kind of work students do their is feasible for their career. Else many companies like COPSOL provide ?5000 / month stipend and give good exposure to candidates of customer dealings. Companies like Times of India has offered role of management trainee in their companies for interns, where they were told to sell e newspaper subscription to the customers, and they do not pay any amount for it while they provide incentives gor the best performers.

Placement Experience

4

Just after one year completion of the college students get opportunity to be seated for college placements and companies start coming every second or third week to the campus, but even if they are selected for the company, they were asked to go for job in their last semester or may be after completion of college in some cases. Many companies including Deloitte,KPMG, COPSOL, amd 100 more have come to the college and taken students as per their needs, but each company takes 2 to 8 employees and sometimes they don't take students as they need students according to their preferences for their job role. Highest package has been offered till 21 lakhs to student for finance role in the company and average is around 5 to 8 lakhs of packages are there for students for different streams, most companies provide visited in campus are for marketing where the job role is mostly management trainee where they atleast get 5 lakhs of package plus incentives in their job. College was previously affiliated to other university named UTU(Uttrakhand technical University) so students used to get less percentage, maximum percentages used to around 85 to 90% , and only tier 1 companies used to ask for more than 75%. My plans are clear to get placement from the college as I have invested myself and money to the college so I can get good understanding of the course which helps my career, so I want a good placement in marketing role which will be best for me.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fees for 1st year of mba program = ?165000/ semester(2 sem./year) ,?5500 exam fee/ semester & ?1000 online education fee/ sem. Additional Compulsory charges = ?50000 addmission (one time) Book bank facility = ?4500(one time) Uniform charges = ?9500(one time) Security fees = ?10000(one time in 2nd sem.) additionally ?25000 mess & bus charges (compulsory) was there only for 1st year, which includes bus facility and lunch facility for students in mess everyday. Tuition fees for 2nd year = ?175000/semester(2 sem./ year) Other fees for value added course (not compulsory) S.A.P = ?75000 Foreign tour = ?75000 I.I.M certification = ?75000 Scholarships: Domicile scholarship= 25% on tuition fees (for 1st year), 2nd year scholarship will be confirmed only if 75% attendance and marks will be maintained. Scholarships through entrance exams CAT/CMAT : upto 40% scholarships on tuition fees are there under certain conditions like one of the classmates scored 97.7 percentile in CMAT , so he got 40% scholarship so according to percentage/ percentile score in certain mba entrance exams, scholarship will be there upto 40%. for around 90 to 95% /percentile score 30 to 35 % is there for 80 to 90%/percentile 25 to 35% scholarship is there. Scholarships ratio varies year to year. Alumini scholarship= 25% on tution fees. Other scholarship through trust can be sanctioned if student requires financial aid due to some financial problems. Every semester, top students from every sections get cash prizes from 5000 to 10000.

Campus Life

3

In terms of annual festivals so there is one called manifest where students get-together and a celebrity will appear and a concert will be there for the students, and there is also called brand-aid where students from different departments contest for the brand preparation and sell products from the brand they have created in that month, this particular event really generates sense of understanding in students related to market and consumer behaviour. There are books related to course which we can access but there are not much books and journals available which we can access and there is only one week of time period for which we can issue that particular book,(other than course) We get get class with projector as all classes are conducted and taught through slides made by teachers and attendance are also marked through online application, through QR code and it got published in real time. Teachers also use mike so each student listen carefully, else benches are good and class environment is also good. Sports and extracurricular activities are there in the college and by the time events held in college but there are less chances for students to participate with other colleges, and students involved in sports club, who pay fees for it get more chances and meanwhile there is no chance for students to play in between college time and there are not much area in the campus for students to play, only one court for volleyball, basketball is there.

Admission

So basically I did my graduation from dehradun city and I am from non commerce background where I was confused about choosing this course for me. So for some months I studied for entrance exams for mba but study was not consistent and I left studying for it in between, so later I decided to pursue mba from dehradun itself and the first few options were UPES , IMS and DBS, so first I applied for IMS College and my admission got confirmed there fees was approx half of my current college, and I did not apply for UPES because it was too expensive and I wanted to take education loan, and it would not be possible to get huge amount of education loan. so for DBS I read many reviews and watched YouTube videos online through I understood that this college does provide placement opportunities and vast learning experience, so I decided to go for this one as IMS College did not have good reputation in terms of placement. and I also have one schoolmate pursuing mba from the DBS college sp I interacted with him before joining college. So admission process in our college includes interview and essay writing test for those students who have not given any entrance exam. So I appeared for the online interview which took around 25 to 30 minutes to complete and then followed with essay writing test, which I had to submit to the online portal, then after 1 or 2 days I received mail from college for the selection hence I got the admission. Talking about the experience of admission it was smooth and professional when it was online but when it comes to offline on the registration day and later when I wanted information and help regarding day 1, it was bad experience. And also on day 1 there was no smooth process of verification of documents and registration, as account department there is really bad and they don't respond to students properly. CMAT is the most common exam students prefer to get admission in DBS

Faculty

4

Faculty to student ratio is good, as there are more than 3 teachers for particular subject. Relationship between faculities and students is good and some of them give time to students other than classes. As almost every faculty has been in the job role before teaching so they really help students understanding to choose a right path in their life after college. Many faculties including Mahesh sir for marketing has been really helpful for students. Harshit Agarwal sir for marketing is also helpful and he really engage with students and award them with books and other gifts for their good performance. There are some teachers as well who don't respond to students properly and don't consider their reviews, and faculty feedback has been never helpful for students as there was no result of it. Some teachers warns students as well to complain anyone about them as there is no one to fix those teachers. College runs it courses on trimester pattern where exams are conducted every quarter i.e 2 quarters per semester, so exams conducted after completing of every quarter. 1 quarter include 4 to 7 subjects, and 100 marks are there, and in the end 50% marks are taken from theory exam and remaining 50% taken from internal quiz and assignments marks. on an average more than 85% students pass the exam in one go. Course curriculum is designed according to the need of the understanding tp students about subject, and also assignments are real deal as they allow students to think like they are actually working on some thing

Interview Experience

4

Yes there was interview and essay competition for the admission. Interview was taken from the teacher of H.R department from the college where teacher asked us following questions: Introduction About your Family Previous college life challenge in life Life after COVID 19 What field you want to choose in m.b.a as I answered finance so there were questions related to budget and finance questions related to the course you have done in graduation questions including your friends, hobbies and preferences Why did you choose this college over your previous college. Interview was followed with essay test, the topic for essay in influence of social media in today's generation. In college's website there were many criteria mentioned for admission in the college but in reality students got admission irrespective of the requirements and some students were also denied admission whereas some students who arrived late were given admission without involving in this process. For preparation of the rounds there is nothing much one should do, but a basic interview should be there and basic understanding of graduation course is required.

Night Life

2

Inside college there is no scope of hanging out and chilling, but as college is surrounded with th hills of dehradun so there are many chances for students to roam around the beautiful places. But one thing to understand that DBS college is situated in outskirts of Dehradun , in Selaqui and it is not a proper urban area like Dehradun, students do not have much options in late night there in Selaqui outside college, though there are 2 or 3 cafes outside college which are also open late night, but as the atmosphere of dehradun is sensitive and government and administration do not support late night openings of shops and cafes, this might be possible far from College, only in certain areas. Talking about students living in hostel, for boys they have options of roaming outside till 9:00 pm and for girls timing is 8:20 p.m maximum. If they want day out so they have to seek permission before 6:00 p.m from the warden and through their parents' permission they can have a day out.

The placement rate is around 90%. Students become eligible for campus placements from the start of 3rd semester, although you can get in earlier through summer internship and ppos. Overall average package is around 8 lakh. Top 15% students get 14-17 lakh. Highest package for this year was 33 lakh. Many top companies like Amazon, Adani, EY, PwC, KPMG, Accenture, Adobe, Microsoft, Infosys, BlueDart, Dell, Deloitte, Genpact and more come to the campus. I aim on getting into big 4 consulting firms.

They are very less experienced to handle pg students as of now there is a very much lack in the implementation part. The kpmg part is only good as industry person as kpmg employees teaches they divided the class into 2 parts to handle the large class
