Course Curriculum Overview

4

The ability to apply the theoretical concepts and practical knowledge of Information technology in analysis, design, development and management is what influenced me to choose this course. Also since childhood i was found of technology and wanted to study in depth about this. Curriculum does a decent job at preparing us for the understanding or professional, business and its process, ethical, legal, security and social issues point of view. As mentioned earlier the course seems little bit outdated as the technology is evolving fast. so i would suggest it would be nice that it keeps updating. Teaching methods is subjective as some teacher makes the subject feel interesting to learn. If we consider 10 months in a year of college (2 months including all the holidays) then 1 sem is of 5 months out of which In-semester exam is in 2nd month of the semester which is of 2 units and End-semester exam is in the 5th month of the semester accordingly which is of 4 units. Mostly each subjects consists of 6 units.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are programs like Training+Internship program in collabration with IIT Roorkee with AICTE certifications and verification by Wipro Dice Id. Our college also has MOU with Japanese companies and their are 6- month internship program with the chances or receiving permanent jobin Japan. Other type of internship program is offered by EY which has cash prize worth 5 lakhs. Similarly Hindustan Petroleum with cash prize upto 9.75 lakhs. Other Internship opportunities like from company ABB for the role of Process mining junior specialist with salary ctc of 8-9 LPA and other company iEnergizer for the role of Junior Engineer Executive with salary ctc of 3-4 LPA. Walmart is offering internship for the role of Software Engineer with the stipend of 1.1 lakh/month. Flipkart has offered internship for the role of SDE with the stipend of 1 lakh/month.

Placement Experience

4

From a general perspective the placement in our college is above average. Students are eligible for campus placements from 6th semester even 5th if one is skilled. Companies like Capgemini, Wipro, Infosys, Siemens, Bitwise, KPIT , Mahindra, Larsen and Turbo, Persistent, Polycab, Bosch, etc are the key recruiters for the college. Currently for this academic year 400 students are already placed. Recently Walmart has offered 27 LPA for the role of Software engineer and even internship opportunities with a stipend upto 1.1 Lakh. While ago Flipkart offered 32 LPA for the role of SDE and full time internship with stipend upto 1 lakh. For this year the placement drive is still ongoing but the highest is 27 LPA but last year it was 51 LPA from Deutsche Bank. Branches like Electrical, ENTC and Computer has 90% of students placed already and Mechanical and IT has 80%. My further plans is mostly to go abroad for further studies. But i am not still sure maybe i will try for placement and work a little for experience then go abroad.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am currently in second year of my 4 year degree program. In the first year I paid 85400 rupees in fees. And for second year i paid around 83500 rupees. which mostly will be the same for rest 2 years. And i dont think so the fee is increasing in fact it decreased. I belong from OBC caste and i do have less fess 45066 (= 34935 tuition fees + 10131 development fees ) {same for EBC&EWS} but i got admitted during spot round so i have to pay full fees which is the same that of OPEN category 85400 (= 69869 tuition fees + 10131 development fees + 2000 caution money & library deposit + 3400 exam and other fees ) {same for management }. While VJNT,SBC,TWFS have fees 12131 (= 10131 development fees + 2000 caution money & library deposit ). Our college does provide various scholarships which take merit and financial condition both in consideration. The amount goes upto roughly 15000 rupees per year.

Campus Life

4

My personal overall experience is great. Campus life is fun and informative at the same time. There are plenty opportunities from social aspects. Various cultural activites,NSS and NCC is also available in the college. Each branch has atleast 1 core club like ITSA,AESA,BETA and there are other numerous clubs for everyone in the college to join ACM, IEEE and GDSC. "Ensemble" is the name of our annual festival which is usually held in February or March which is of 5-7 days. This includes days like Traditional Day, Bollywood Day, Retro Day and activites like Treasure Hunt and Variety Entertainment Program (VEP). Before Ensemble sports week happens and comes to end just when "Ensemble" is starting. Technical festivals like Hackathon and "Dexterity" usually happens in the month of September and October. Library is super accessible with regards to books and journals , even library management mails every month about which new journals are now available in the library. Every classrooms consist of ample windows, lighting and fans. Each classroom has a Smart TV or Smart WhiteBoard apart from normal blackboard. College does participate in various intercollege competitions for sports like cricket, kabaddi , basketball, volleyball etc. and their training is done accordingly. College also supports if someone wants to go for solo sports if the player has previous achievements. We also have gym and a yoga center. There is currently no student only portal. But there are student-run social club like Mic-drop.

Admission

The reason of choosing this college over others is travel time. I live in Karvenagar and my college is also in Karvenagar itself so it is very time saving and energy saving for me. But moreover I think that i didnt just choose it for the sake i also think it didnt hamper my education as this college is not lower in any means.I had the option to choose from colleges like SCOE, MMCOE, and PES Modern. I initially got admitted to Modern College which is in Shivaji Nagar but i choose this over that is because i think they are evenly rated colleges so i took the one which is closer to me. I did apply for other colleges like COEP, PICT, PCCOE, PVG and i couldnt make into them is only because of cutoffs. These are very high cutoff colleges. They are the top rated colleges in Pune. They are better in all aspect compared to my college with huge campus, superior infrastructre, greater and better placement and teaching faculty. Admission process is like any other enginerring college, eligibility criteria is based on percentile of various exam and in some case percentage of 12th board. In my college MHTCET and JEE exams are accepted for my course and MHTCET is the most preferred by students. Cutoff of my college for my course is minimum 91-93 percentile in CET and 80+ percentile in JEE. It is more for Computer Science engineering. It decreases for other branches gradually but i would say is pretty decent. Admission experience is very smooth i had no issues whatsoever.

Faculty

4

I would say for each department atleast theratio is minimum 1 teacher : 10 students. But for some department it is even low. The faculty student relationship is very kind and nice. They are very approachable even after college timing. Vrushali Shinde maam has to be the best faculty related to our course, she teaches mathematics and her way of teaching a relatively difficult subject in a easy manner is what makes her best. Also Punam Chavan maam because she is very chill and kind. Alka Sawaikar maam is a teacher i didnt personally like because she was unnecessarily strict and followed a specific pattern of teaching and behaviour which cannot be broken. There are total 8 semester and each semester has 5 subjects (or less). Each subject is of mostly 150 marks out of which 50 is for practical, term work and internal marks and 100 is university level papers. There are 2 exams In-semester (30 marks ) and End-semester (70 marks) usually. But the college conducts 3 unit test of 30 and 35,35 marks respectively. maybe 10% of total strength fails to clear a subject. course curriculum i would say is not that relevant apart from basic knowledge because it is outdated from technical point of view. But our college does know that and they conducts special lectures so that we are up to date with modern technology.

Night Life

4

I dont know about the night like in college as i am not a hostelite. But i know from the friends that the play or exercise daily in the evening. There is 1 canteen and 1 cafeteria in the college. canteen is where students can sit but we usually sit in the basement which has chair and benches where students chill with their friends , eat or rest. These experiences are great as they acts as stressbuster and freshens the mind. There are both indoor and outdoor gym present in college with various equipments. There are 2 study room beside library. Campus timing is 8 am- 4 pm which is the same for library but library timing is extended during university exams till 6 or 7 pm. Hostel timing is 6am- 9 pm for girls and 6am - 9.30 pm for boys. Favourite hangout spot after college is basement which is beside canteen. Also there is famous cafe outside the college called "Passtime" which is famous amongst students. The locality is safe to roam around at night but there is slum area in the vicinity.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Soo ever since kid i was interested in bikes this interest was all for me to take this course , my father is very bike enthusiast and it came down to me , i could easily take mechanical and other engineering cause these are common courses which involves automobile , but since i wanted to follow my passion , i wanted to do specialization in automobile itself and DPCOE was offering this course with great facilities and knowledge providing us a path in this lane of career in this field. According to me curriculum prepares us quite well as they conduct workshop which are relevant to outside world where we'll be working. If there were more practical workshops for us to work on would be great cause automobile engineering is all about practicals rather than theoroticals Professor should try teaching in physical part rather than taking lectures and explaining the concept by just words

Yes there is placement cell of STES which is no different than other tier 3 engineering colleges offering a tier 3 average package depending on who is the recruiter. Students become eligible for campus from 3rd year of their degree. Highest package is something around 55 lakhs offered to a computer engineering student, and average is just like I said for a tier 3 college 5-6 lakhs(above or below). Almost everyone gets placed in the company but some might not.
