Likes

Makes us ready for the upcomming challenges in life
Variety of life lessons to make us more strong for the future
We make a lot of friends some of which are till the very end

Dislikes

They should teach us more about our moral values and our civil rights
They should also give us basic financal education which would teach us more abut finances in our day to day life
May be more emphasising on practical life rather than the theoretical part

Course Curriculum Overview

As per the course i had no idea which one was good for me. Nor did i have a seniour who could guide us. We should have atleast a month in collage to decide our course. If it is possible we should be given a month at the start of collage to discuss with the faculty based on our strength to choose the course we want.

Class Size: 56Course Fees: INR 7000 per year

Fees and Financial Aid

I have paid a round figure of about 12000rs yearly. I never had any tition so it was lighter on that side.I didnt have any idea about scholarship nor did my parents as i was the only one first to pursue a graduation degree. After all it was because of this goverment collage i completed my graduation.

Campus Life

The annual festival was called the Inspire held in june. We had acess to a wide variety of books and our library was the most popular one. There was a wide variety of sports such as football mu favourite basket ball cricket and may other out door and indoor sports

Admission

I had applied to only one collage because it was rhe neareasr and i could not afford to go somewhere else far. I did not get rejected .I had to have some cut off percentage for admission and everythung went smoothly

Faculty

I believe that the faculty-to-student ratio should be as for evert 20 to 40 students there shoud be one teacher who guides us and shoud be like a gurdian to us. Who encourages in our good times and gives us motivation and even punish us if we are in the wtong direction. As per exams the collges are doing according to me.

Night Life

I was at my uncle's place so i had not stayes at hostel. The gym was good. I was in the campus for moreoften during the day and by 4 we left most of my time we were in classes. My friends and me often were in the corridor and library.

My Undergrad Experience at Sikkim University.

Likes

The cultural events, the city, the people and the natural environment all around. Life in hills feels like a breath of fresh air, you'll love it for a change.
My department of psychology was like a cozy small family with supportive and friendly professors. The curriculum is just fine. The evaluation pattern makes life really easy since you get 50 marks from your internals and only 50 from your final paper
The people that you meet here will teach you a lot about different ethnicities, culture and tradition. The place in itself is completely different from the rest of the country. Lifestyle in gangtok is pretty modern, classy and open minded

Dislikes

The city gets stuck in traffic quite often and it can really get on your nerves. I have had days where it used to take me 2hrs to cover a distance of 5km from my hostel to department via cab
The campus is still under construction and majority of the departments are stretched over the entire city of gangtok with rented buildings. This setting never felt feasible but isnt the worst part either.
One problem that many of my friends from other states felt here was the language barrier. People here communicate in either nepali or english, be it the marketplace or university.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is pretty outdated, they need to update it. The professors try to accomodate and teach stuff out of the syllabi as per the emerging trends. The difficulty level is average and the exams are easy to score on.

College surronding with a very nice surrounding
College have more teachers that can help us to learn properly
College have emergency ambulance when any students face medical emergency then thry can use it!!

Dislikes

Teachers behaviour/speaking way towards student's
College principle of nar bhadur College hasvnot available most of the time
Teachers used to take monry to us when we need a simple signature even thou !!

The course which i has prepraring in my college are very good and my teachers are very good and kind even my teacher has a bad face but they doesn't show their real face and the teachers are vary nice with us

A college student life.

Likes

We have a projector in all classes and camera
It provide us with library and studio too
It has clean washroom and a good classroom

Dislikes

We don't own a campus but only buildings
We have very less programs even if we have programs because of our building being a different location we don't have that social interaction between each others

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would read the course curriculum terms of relevance into the world as I got a sit for competitive exams. Our exam timing and a sessional goes very smoothly in we have total of 5 units where it is very easy to do it and A final terms goes with hundred marks which also is very good

When in doubt opt for SRM University

Likes

The most liked part of college is that it's not a mentally tortured environment, the teachers are very helpful and supportive, the classes are run calmly and patiently amd SRM provides the best enviornment mentally and physically
And the next thing and very important thing is that SRM is a ragging free campus
Also the campus is small yet well maintained and very hygienic

Dislikes

One thing I dislike about SRM is it doesn't have much programs
Also there is no auditorium as such to have good programs
And the facilities for canteen are also less

Placement Experience:

Our placement happens usually at the end of 5th semester. Where we. get good packages and before that we also.have professional soft skills training tonhow to attend for an interview which makes us more confident before opting for one

There has to be many improvements in the course which I applied as there is no proper gadgets and instruments to study, no proper kab to fit all students The exam is not that difficult we can pass it easily

Likes

Our library..may be because I'm a bookworm and i spent my free hours there
Cafeteria..our university has the best and cheap food stalls inside the campus.
The garden..its breathtaking to watch the nature

Dislikes

Washroom because in sikkim water scarcity is one the major problem
Heatwaves despite being in hilly area the heat is unbearable
Seminar hall this is terrible it has no proper equipment

In our university we have per semester 3 exams For eg. In 1 semester which means in 6 months we have 3 exams . Term 1 contains of 25 marks which will be written , term 2 contains 25 marks which can be written or your HOD might ask for assignments and the last paper is 50 . The passing criteria is 33

Remarks:

I am studying in this college for the past two years and this college has become my second home. Teachers and seniors are very helpful and cooperative. All the students are treated equal and well enough. Activities keeps us active. So for me, there's nothing negative remarks about the college.

-Colleges I applied for : SMIT: B.Sc Chemistry, SMIMS: B.Sc MLT, Cardiovascular Tech. I choose this college because I only need a B.Sc degree for my further decision of giving competitive exams, hence did not prefer to spend on fancy degrees -I got accepted into all the colleges I applied for( not bragging,it's easy) -You apply online after finishing your 12th, bare minimum of 60% is required on your main subject (depends on your course).
