An Extract of My Experience at KJ Somaiya for MCOM

I would say, some of the subjects have very minimal or no real world application like Macro economic, unless someone is plannig to pursue this carrer in such field like Economics. I think they need to remwove unncessary subjects like Management Info System, its just make no sense to study and remeber specailly I dont like to remeber economist names or the year in which they were born, as if its 5th grade exam. Exams are really easy for me but it depends upon the person, I would say its moderate for other people, andthey have 2 semester with otehr assignments and presentations and otehr activitues.

Our college has partenred with some companies for specifically Mcom students, for intersnhip, liek TCS, Reliance, HDFC, for internships like maketing intern, busincess development etc. also Finance Internship. stipend depends upon company but roughly 5K-15K.

We have to do all the semester and will be eligible for plcaemnt, companies offered plcament are KPMG, Deloittee, Wipro, TCS, Reliance etc. avg packeage is very low around 3L and hoghset is around 6.5L with some perks, im not sure about the company name , im not sure aboutt the student detail as well. sicen Im doing CA so ill not look for placement f=after the degree.

Yearly fees is roughly 25K for Master in Commerce and there is no other charges, but there is a charges/penalty if u delay in returning the books u borrowed from the library, penlaty is 2 Rs. per day, and while getting admission u have to pay some admission fees its for admission and it is around 500, but if ur parents income is upto the liimit (upto 2.5L) it will be Exempt. And for females they have scolarship if their household inocomei is upto 3L. and for frmales they have special train ticket price, im not sure if its 100% expempted or just reduced price.

Main festical I really enjoy Somaiya Fest. held anually. first of all they have a lots of libraries within the campus and u can visit any of them with ID Card, and they habe a great infra structure liek really really good, variety of books, u wil lfind a lots of books be it scinece, economic, or any other field. classroom are avg. they have old calssic benchroom with some modern tools and infrastructure, but they have really goods sports infrastructure like chess fotoball basket ball et.c wide variety of soports. students are nice and social gathering also held at the campus. they have hostels as well but its costly and expensive. overall really good campus with all that greenery et.c

I initially applied for 4 colleges SIES nerul, and Pillai Panvel, and St. Xavier College, and Somaiya. and I got confirmed admission in 3 of them except Xavier, I chose Somiay only because of its campus and soprts opportunites, like really great opportunity if u r into sopirts and other curricular activities, it has chess, football absket ball and what not. I got rejected at Xavier since I was late in submitting a form and I didnt wanted to wait a whole year to get admission there. so I choes somaiya. So admission process is very simple (atleast online) so we have to fill admission form online, and we have to got to college with some other documents like Aadhar card copy, and other details provided in the form, and if u are bcom passed out they will accept or any other bacholar degree, mostly Bcom students carry this course. However my offline expericen was really ewally really bad, they were so rude, the admin office employee, if u want admission reserve a full day for ur admission, they will make sure it will worsen. just make sure to not carry cash they only accept bank payment, and dont bush around just go to admin office and ask them where to submit the form, dont go at around 1 PM. u can go around 11 AM and most prolly it will be done, unless if the sir is absent. overall very bad experice on my first day of admisioin

we have like 8 teachers of 120 students batch. unnlike admin staff, teacher are really good, like some of them are not very professional but still they are very nice to students and posses great knowledge. I really like Samiullah Khan sir, he has great knowledge of Economics and his teaching style is very good, one more teacher I like unfortunately he just passed away like 2 weeks ago, he was very kind person, his name was Jai Ganeshani, he was Corporate finance teacher. I dont like Priya ma'am she just come, sit and talk. no professionalism just like a casual talk, there are 2 semester, level of exam depends student to student, since Im doing CA along with Mcom, I dont even study to be honest, coz ive already studied all the relevent things in CA. so for me its very easy, but students do fail exam like around 40% students.

they dont have any kind of test for admission, since I had been a student of Somaiya unversity only so I got direct admission, but for outsiders they have cut off rate which depends upon the demand and supply of the students, so its recommended to get admission ASAP, when the admission form started. Ive already disccued the process of admsission earlier.

they do not offer any late night activities as of my knowledge and cafeteria and library etc. they usually close at around 6, im not sure about the hostel timing, students ussually go to park for hang out with their friends and oitside they have a lots of hotels and cafeteria. Its very safe to roam around at night, lcoality is very safe.
