In NIEPMD, as we deal with multiple disabilities , here we deal with cerebral palsy , stroke cases,. As we study in books , in real life its different. One patient is equal to 50 books. Everyone is different. So I needed to be in that course to deal with those cases. To help and serve those people who cant avail the expensive services > The course taught us the approach how to deal with patient starting from introduction, how to start conversation with them, Taking assessment correctly, diagnosing and concluding the problem or disability, Making aware to them about the problem and how to manage or treat the patient. Even we do follow ups > New ways we also like Shock wave therapy, Virtual Reality based therapy, Hydro therapy, and new methods. >Teaching methods can be improved by more innovative ideas like practical 3d diagrams and models > Here 2 internals exam are held followed by mock viva and practical to test and check us before the real one and one university paper annually (August sessions are regular and For supplementary paper it is held on February)

Admission

For getting in this college we have to give CET held by nild at that time. There were only three colleges offering the courses (Bachelor of Physiotherapy, Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics) that time NILD in Kolkata, SVNIRTAR in Cuttack, NIEPMD in Chennai. Now there are five institute offering courses. My common rank was 366 in General Category at that time. I was called for counselling. Counselling letter was recieved by me by speed post. My counselling day was on third day, I was interested in SVNIRTAR as it is the oldest and famous insititute. My first preference was Bachelor of Physiotherapy in SVNIRTAR. But my hopes got broken when i saw that all seat have been filled for the general category in both NILD , SVNIRTAR and 2 seats were remaining in NIEPMD. I had not imagined that.Even i left hope that I will get the admission. But Miracle or something else I got the seat and as it is national institute everyone was happy > Comparing NIEPMD, other institutes were not that good. NILD infrastructure is very old just like a govt hospital and too situtated inside a road, Plus hostel were not provided immediately. >SVNIRTAR was very far from the main city and same govt. hospital feels >We have to be 12th pass with 50% aggregate in (Physics, Chemistry and Biology )Subject > Date of birth should be more than 17 and less than 27 at that time >Mostly students prefer BPT rather BOT

She is very caring and she genuinely gives attention to the students problem >Jay kumar Sir is an excellent professor and also our class coordinator for final year. > Rajesh Sir was my project guide. He helped and guided me well in that. > Hod sir Shri Santosh Khanna sir was there for guidance whenever it was needed. > There are basically 4 annual examination for the course. Each year one examination was there. Regular examination was held on first week of August. Supplementary exam was held on the first week of February. I have given all examination in August month. Paper was bit difficult and the checking was bit tough. >Out of 25,5 got back paper in the first year. Later during final year all 24 People have passed out. > Here all the papers were based on the clinical and the intervention approached by physiotherapy. Assessment were taught and how to deal with that.

The physiotherapy has a wide range of opportunities after completing the bachelors either you can go for masters or work at hospital as physiotherapy or you can be working as an independent physio and treat the patients at their home, or you can start a clinic and can manage that. The physiotherapy is growing field that has a good future . You'll be good physio if you diagnose your patients correctly, if you follow the doctors prescription you will be technician. In this college the patients are less and the teaching quality is worst , you'll need to work at clinics to get a idea about everything. The college only teaches theory but not practicals

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was get to know about the improvement of the field of physiotherapy. Then I saw doctors can cure the cause but physiotherapist can rehab the patients and make the patients to live on their own. Physiotherapist are called as the muscle doctors. This made me to choose this course. The curriculum prepares us like teaching how to treat the patients and how to convince the patients and how to interact with them. So before treatimg the patients first we should have a well knowledge about the disease and subjects and basic anatomy. So they teach us very well and train us very well to give treatment to the patients. The exam are conducted 3 months once as 3 internals in the college and 1 university examination at the end of the year.
