My Days at NGMC

This college is one of the best colleges to spend your youth age. You can groom yourself academically as well as professionally. You will be given counselling when needed. You can have a peaceful life in this Green NGM.

I study English Literature. And actually I don't know about the syllabus of all other departments. But I know all other departments have updated curriculum like mine. Syllabus is provided at the commencing of every semester and you'll be guided to buy books and other materials, external reading is advised. We have syllabus prescribed equal to that of some other universities. The staffs will help you to complete the syllabus with more attention. You'll be provided a lot of additional materials. We are encouraged to put our learning into practice. Overall it's a joyful practice.

Yes. They provide interships for most of the departments. But unfortunately my department doesn't. We have a well-established placement cell that provides you great opportunities. My friend from BCA had went to internship for a renowned company and was given a decent stipend. She also told that many of her friends attended internships and it was highly beneficiary.

The placement of my college has it's own value. The placement officer is a man of principles. He motivates every student with his powerful speeches. He has contacts with many local and national companies. Approximately 80% of the students are placed in many companies every year. This particular year almost 35 companies came and nearly 1100 students got placed in one or more companies. They also provide guidance to those students who opted for own buisness. I study English Literature and I got placed in all the three companies I attended. This college guarantees you a good job , if you are ready to work.

The college life is filled with celebration and joy. You will have to attend the bridge course conducted by UG Aided English department that introduces you to various extra curricular activities and clubs. We will have fresher's day function for the new comers. Through which you get to know about seniors and faculties of your department.Then you'll attend numerous guest lecturer on current topics conducted separately by all the departments. The best day of your college life would be the day of Pongal celebration. You'll see how beautiful the Pongal is. With traditional music and dance the entire college wears a ceremony look. You could see everyone in traditional attires , every department would have to prepare their own pongal and share. You could see some village things like Cock fight, Kummiyattam, Uriyadithal , kabadi etc. Then every department would conduct inter college competitions for days. My own department celebrates Drama festival where every class in our department would perform various dramas like pros. We also celebrate the birthdays of Arutchelver Mahalingam , Abdul Kalam , Vivekanandar etc,. Every department will celebrate the batch that is going out by sending off then with a touching farewell.

The fees structure of this college is very much feasible because most of the students here belong to rural areas. They management wants to provide a quality education in a low fee. You'll have to pay a little high for Self-financing courses.

I think no loan is provided here. But you'll have a scholarship if you belong to lower middle class and your family's annual income should not exceed 1,00000. The proficiency holder would receive some money yearly and the very poor would receive some money on Arutchelver's day.

The sports department here is good but not too. Many students who actively involve in sports during the first year fail to be a part of it till last. I don't know whom to be blamed. There is a good NCC team and they go to many places for camps. The NSS facility here is great. They actively participate in rally, camps and conduct awareness programs. The college has Arutchelver Manavar Sindhanai Manram that is organized by the students themselves and they participate in helping rural development. We also have a well-established rotaract club , Human excellence department, Academy for Professional development , Fine Arts club etc.

The hostel facility provided here is good. It is located in the same campus. You will be allocated a room for four students. The mess here provides the tastiest food except some times. You will have tiffen items for breakfast and dinner. You will get full meals for lunch. You'll be given a good tea and snacks for the evening. There is a lot of place in hostel where you can enjoy with your friends. The hostel day is celebrated with full pomp and glory. The hostel experience here is an awesome one.

The seniors here are extremely helpful. They educate you a lot. They encourage you. The college has a strong Alumni Association. They held meetings every year and express their love towards the ex- students.

The exam structure is you have six semesters for UG and four for PG. In between each semester you are supposed to attend two internal exams. The first internal covers half of the syllabus and the second covers the whole portion. You will get your paper corrected within few days of the exam and you will be given remarks personally. You will be encouraged to score more , the next time.

Actually on the day of board results, I went to get an application form. There are two wings - Self-finance wing and Aided wing. You can opt for Self-finance if you feel your mark is low to get through merit. But you can try for Aided too. Spot admission facility is available for SF courses. If you ought to join in Aided departments you can fill the form and submit there. You will receive an official invitation for an interview after 10 days.

All faculties are well-groomed and witty. Each and every faculty takes intensive care on all their students. They research a lot before teaching a particular subject. They encourage the students in every way. They give you higher study guidance and counselling. They educate not only the subjects but also life.
