Remarks

The college is an excellent place to explore yourself and has students from all over the country and all walks of life. Amany if the students are from engineering, and commerce the diverse background helps you grow a lot. But there are a lot of opportunities to party so it is important that you remember to focus on your career apart from everything else about the college life.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is very broad and focuses on a lot of media related courses ranging from journalism, radio, film direction, photography, advertising and public relations. Students avan choose the subjects they want leading up to their major. Apart from this there are several subjects common for everyone like psychology, media laws and literature.

Internships Opportunities

Internship is compulsory for students after the second year, before the start if their final year but most of the students try and intern every semester- sometimes in different streams of the media industry to get an experience on what is it that they actually like. But despite this the college doesn't help students find internships. When absolutely desperate sometimes teachers may hook students up with mediocre internship opportunities.

Placement Experience

3.5

Around 10/11 companies come for jobs which is decent for a batch of 100 students. There is a minimum cap on the salary being offered and students are usually not allowed to sit for placements if they are already places unless its from a select few companies which come under a dream list. Some of the companies which hire regularly are Reuters, Adfactors and Viacom 18, Radio Mirch and Vedanta also hired people last year.

College Events

5

There are several college fests which are celebrated but the most important one is Article 19- The Communication Fest. Its a three day fest where different colleges form all over India participate in competitions and several notable speakers hold lectures on different topics (notable speakers include Prahlad Kakkar). The last day of fest has a funfair with themed costume parties. Another notable feat is the MV Kamath Parliamentary Debate- Proverb. One of the best Parliamentary Debate tournament held in the country and is attended by all the major colleges in India.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is very affordable back in 2015 when i joined the college the whole course fees cost me 1 lakh per annum. This was not inclusive of hostel fees and food court fees. The fees would have likely been hiked by now.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of any scholarships that can be availed by the students but there is some kind of provision for meritorious konkani students wherein they can get scholarships and seats are reserved for them.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus has basketball courts, central and multiple food courts/ mess, footbal and cricket stadium, swimming pool, gym, tennis and badminton courts, an air conditioned student shopping plaza and central library alongwith college library.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

There are different kinds of accomodations available for students. They range from triple room sharing non ac, double room non ac, double room ac, single room non ac, single room ac. Double rooms also have options of attached and non attached washrooms.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is still growing. Although the college alumni network is not very strong on its own the University alumni network is one of the most widespread and and best out there. By signing up on the alumnus website you can connect with everyone who is a part of it.

Exam Structure

Exams are conducted at the end of every semester also there are mid session exams called sessionals. End semester exams are externally evaluated while sessional exams are internally assessed. GPA and credits per subjects are both awarded. A minimum number of credits are required to pass the semester. If a student faila to clear a subject they get another chance to clear it provided they have enough overall credits.

Admission

Manipal University conducts an online entrance exam for their courses in BA(Media and Communication), Animation, BCom and BBA. Those who quality for the entrance exam get an admission for the course. A student can gets two attempts on the exam to improve their score or chances of getting in.

Faculty

3.5

Some of the faculty are students of the institute itself who have worked in the industry but decided to return to their roots. They are experienced in their subjects but sometimes have to take up multiple subjects for teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of the dual degree that it has to offer, christ is one of the very few institutions that offer dual degree and allow you to explore both the subjects or gain combined knowledge of both the subjects. The curriculum is very up to date with subjects that relate to real world problems. What i like the most about my curriculum is the Learner centric approach where they divide the class into halves so that the teacher student ratio can be maintained in order to achieve full efficiency. One area of improvement can be inculcating more soft skills traininng into it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

- curriculum specially for BA is not like how you see in other universities it's a comprehensive curriculum where your also studying subject like AI learning, data analysis, regional languages and so much more it is a comprehensive course which is not only focusing on your major but also on an overall development of you as a student.. - well we are not only getting in-class lectures but we also have a internal component of internship every year which helps us get an experience of real world situations and job market. -There is one course called numbers we have that could be improved it basically talks about mathematical in economic applications numerical implications particularly which has not been given more thought on it could be more elaborated and structured well. - frequency is high and difficulty is moderate usually.

And they do make many offers. The highest package reports around 30 LPA and the average goes on around 3 to 4.5 LPA. Around 70-90 percent get placements. My plans is to pursue higher studies.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good. Students arw given chances to take exams and get job opportunities from there. Field trips and internships, orientations, talk shows are organized to prepare students further before stepping out for jobs. They can either take the placements they get or opt for higher studies, which is what i am doing as a degree in psychology alone does not grant a wide scope in the jobs spectrum.
