Likes
- The campus is pretty huge, it carries thousands of students.
- The merit list for admission is low so that students with lower grade can also apply for the course they are looking for.
- They have good events and extra curriculum activities for students to participate and enjoy.
Dislikes
- The unnecessary crowd that you can see outside of the college campus.
- The security guard, they are old and would judge you and complaint for no reason.
- Their are some faculty who just don't care if you exist and make sure you're suffering if you don't attend their lecture.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was pursuing CA when I decided to take bachelor in commerce (accounts and finance) back then. So my course basically is about account and finance. The future scope of job from this course is either job in bank sector (pvt and gvt sector), or you can prepare for ca or cs. You don't have to give the foundation exam if you've completed your graduation. This course give you practical knowledge about the real world accounts, finance, taxes etc.
Internships Opportunities
Infosys, tech Mahindra, raw engineering are some of the top companies viva college provide intership for the students. I did not take any internship as I decided to change my career option after graduation.
Placement Experience
Semester 5 students are eligible for the campus placement. I can't recall the name of the companies but they offer around 8k-12k monthly depending on the skills of the student. Student can expect starting of 8k-15k starting if they have a good marksheet and skills. College keeps on providing placement options to students. I changed my career option after my graduation so I did not take any internship or placement as such but my friends have got placements from college.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure for my particular course that is Bachelor in Commerce (Accounts and finance) was ?14999/- annually. Students were provided both full payment or installment for payments. Online fees payment method was available and if offline a particular bank is provided to pay the fees. If students have any quota they have benefits in it for fees. The fees varies and decreases upto 5k-6k annually. I personally don't know if they have increased their fees for following year but as compared to other colleges the fees are low.
Campus Life
VIVA College in Virar, Maharashtra, India hosts a variety of events, including cultural events, research conventions, and student council events. They have quite a few options in extra curricular activities offered on campus. From sports, arts, literature to eSports. Viva college do have students club who look after all these events.
Admission
The reason why I choose this college over other colleges is that this college is near by the place I stay, also the cut-off rate of this college is low, I did not have to travel much in order to reach the college and is quite affordable fees vise. I applied for viva and vartak. And I got in viva on the 1st merit list. They do not have any interview or entrance exam for admission. It's direct admission. Yes I did get rejection from vartak college, vasai. They have a 90+ percentage merit. So for viva college the merit list starts from 50% and above for science, for commerce 40% and above and for arts 36% and above. The admission process I went from was offline. I went to the college and filled the offline form for admission but you can just take admission online from the University of mumbai site.
Faculty
It really depends on what faculty you get. Not all faculty are bad. They will put efforts for students to learn and communicate in the lecture. Their are many students who are working part time while studying so for them they try to teach them with extra classes. But also their are faculties who do not care about students and are available just for the sake of job. I'm sorry I don't remember the names of the faculty but I can tell you the hod of my department is very supportive and helpful. He will help you out even if you text or call him regarding any confusion. Their are 4 exams held annually. 2 internal exams which are of 20 marks each subject and 2 final exams which are of 80marks each subject. The internal exams are ofcourse easier. If you fail in the internal exam you don't have to give kt reexam you just have to subject some assignments they give you. But for the external exams if you fail you'll have to pay rs 250 per subject.
Night Life
College have library, gym, cafeteria which is big enough to hold more than 100 students at once. The college is in the middle of residential area. It closes off after 5 pm but after at night because of the residencial area the road is busy. They provide hoster for students who live for more then 10km from the hostel. Their are lot of cafes and food stalls and chill areas to hangout with friends after college. In the 2km radius.
