Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum was well thoughtout and planned. The course started from the fundamentals in programming and then built up to advanced programming. It helped me immensly while I was pursuing my Master's degree. The course can be improved by making the way of teaching better and more interactive. There were 2 internal assessment exams and 1 end semester exam for each term and apart from that, there were class tests and assignments at times.

Placement Experience

4

The placements at college were good. Students become eligible for placement from the 5th semester. Some of the companies to my knowledge were Deloitte, Cognizant, Hexaware and the average package was between 3lpa to 5lpa. In my class, ther percentage pf students placed was more than 75%. My plan after my Bachelors was to immediately pursue Masters degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

For each semester, I paid around Rs.35,000. Apart from this, there were other cost during the studies that included cost for lab work record printouts, xerox copies of text books and notes. There was also the condonation fees that was to be paid if incase there was a lack of attendance.

Campus Life

4

I was not very interested in the extra-curricular activities at college but there were various club activites like music club, dance club, literary club, college choir. There were events like "Food Fest", "College play", "Festeve" (inter-college cultural program) and departmental cultural programs. The library was vast and had 3 floors of books and study rooms. There were sports activities like basketball, volleyball to name a few.

Admission

I had applied at Madras School of Social Work for Bachelors in Psychology and also at Women's Christian College for Bachelor's in Computer Science. I opted out of the Psychology course since it was my second choice if incase, Information Technology did not work out. For the Computer Science course, I did not get it because I missed the mark cut off for that course. There was no separate eligibility exam for the course since it was an arts college but standard 12 marks were important. The admission process started with application form submission then confirmation from the college then document submissions and the fee payment.

Faculty

4

The relationship between students and faculty varied vastly based on the teachers. Some were not very approachable while others were kind and provided help whenever asked. Each semester had two continuous internal assessment(like mid terms at school) worth 20 marks each plus 10 marks for practicals and an end semester exam worth 100 marks. The end semester exam marks and then considered for out of 50 and the internal assesement and end semester exam marks are consolidated. The exams were easy since I was diligently taking notes during class and understood everything. Course curriculum was very relevant for someone hoping to become a software developer.

Night Life

4

I was not a hostel student at the college but since the college was in Nungambakkam, there were many cafes, restaurants, and pubs aruond the college mainly at Khader Nawaz Khan Road. The campus had two shifts; one at 8:30 AM to 1:20 PM and the other at 12:30 PM to 5:30 PM

Other Applied Colleges

Madras School of Social Work - [MSSW] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Psychology)

This Bachelors in Psychology course was a second choice of mine. So, when I got my desired course at WCC, I opted to not choose this course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this college because of its NIRF Ranking, but trust me it's not worth it. The college infrastructure is very old. They don't provide proper classrooms and tutors are not very good. Some are good some aren't. Internal exams are easy and are conducted in the same classroom but sem end is conducted properly.
