Course Curriculum Overview
The overall curriculum is good. But the teacher are a bit unexperienced which is seen in their way of teaching. The curriculum prepares us well for future real world applications if studied properly. The frequency of exams are very frequent and the difficulty level is average according to the way of teaching. But in every semester there is one unnessasary subject that just seems to be consuming the time of students. In my case there was Yoga as a theory subject where we just have to sit in the class for two hours and just listen to the teacher telling things about youga instead to actually practicing it and getting our health better. Other than that most of subjects were good and useful for future applications of the students. The exams are quite frequents ensuring the regular update in the knowledge of students.
Internships Opportunities
As I am currently a 3rd semester student, I have not got much internship opportunities. The university provides internship opportunities after the 3rd semester but as far as my knowledge companies like accenture, Arihant capital , AICTE and some more provide internship opportunities to students.
Placement Experience
After the 5th semester, the students become eligible for sitting in the campus placements. Many companies visit our branch mainly High Radius, Accenture and few more companies. The average package as fas I know is around 3,00,000/- per annum and the nighest one was 8,00,000/- . As far as I got to know from the seniors, around 60% of the students are placed by the time of graduation. My plan after getting a degree is to work in the corporate world for around 1-2 years whiile planning some source of income from some side business and the do MBA and then completely get into a business field.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee of B.Com Hons. is 58,000 per semester with a total of 6 semesters in the course. The registration fees or the seat booking fees for KIIT University is 75,000/- for which you get a good laptop with all the latest technologies and high specs and also you would get books for the course of 6 semester unter the registration fees. So as this B.Com course is of 4 years which has 8 semesters so in total the fees for the B.Com course is 4,80,000/- . To get into the university you have to pass the KIITEE entrance exam which is completely free of cost. After you clear that exam you have to pay the seat booking fees that is 75,000/- as mentioned above. There is no reservation quota for SC,ST but in KIIT University there is a branch named as KISS - Kalinga Institute of Social Services which help poor and needy students in their studies as well as provide them with employment opportunities. Apart from this, the students who joined the college for the B.Com degree in 2024 had their fees amount changed and it has now increased to 90,000/- per semester which for 4 years and 8 semesters costs up to 7,20,000/- which in my opinion is a bit high for this course.
Campus Life
The most famouse fest in our college is the annual fest named - KIIT FEST which is the biggest college fest of bhubneswar which include 2 star nights and also there are many multiple competitions with a prize pool worth many lakhs. KIIT University has a sperate 6 storey library only for books where students can go and read all kinds of books of all courses. In KIIT University there is place for all sports to play with a swimming pool, a basetball court and a Gym in every campus along with it it has an indoor stadium for badminton, volleyball and basketball and also a cricket ground.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facility is very good in KIIT University. The hostellers are provided with laundry services and wifi services and the food quality in the mess is also very good. If you are looking to take hostels then during the admission process you can opt for hostels. There are various kinds of hostels which include 2 beded , 3 beded, AC, Non-AC, Single beded.
Admission
So firstly , KIITEE was the first entrance exam I gave after my schooling was ove and then I gave other exams of other colleges too including the CUET Exam. I was hoping to get admission in a government college in DU but was not able to get one. So my next best alternative as KIIT University in Bhubneswar. I also got admission in Kalinga University Raipur and also in Centurion University in Khorda but KIIT was better than the others and as a student I would have got a better exposure to the outside world as KIIT is a big university. So this was the reason I choose this college over the other colleges.
Faculty
The faculty is very friendly and teaches in a good manner. All the professors are good and very friendly in nature. They take personal interest in your problems and solve your doubts. Overall a good experience. But there are always problems in every semester because sometimes instead of proper professors for a subject, we are assigned junior PHD. holders to teach us and they teach in a very casual way due to which the subject is not well understood by the students. Many a times the students have to write a formal letter of complaint to the Dean to change the faculty assigned and provide the students with better teachers. All the senior faculty members are in fact very good and highly knowledgeble professors who excel in their field and teach in a very easy and understandable manner. A good formal way of communication is followed in the entire branch which provides the students with a good learning and engaging environment. As a student myself I have loved learning from the senior faculties because of the way they teach.
Night Life
The curfew time for hostels is 7:00 pm which is a major problem as students are not able to enjoy the night life because of this restriction. The cafeteria also closes after 7 pm so basically the night life of KIIT University is not very great for us hostellers.
