Course Curriculum Overview

4

Since, I am in 1st year, I can just brief about the relevancy of First year subjects. I do find them fairly relevant foe any engineer to be graduated. It is focused on training one as Industry-Ready in all domains irrespective of their specializations. I find that the course would be more appealing if the course was updated fro time to time. There is one Mid-Semester and one End -Semester per Sem and the papers are set upto standard levels.

Internships Opportunities

4

There are various Internship oppurtunities we get in 2nd Year and 3rd Year and the CDC(Career Development Cell) also familiarizes with oppurtunities we can work for. I am awaiting to be part of one. The companies are Google, TCS, Amazon, Nvidia, LinkedIn,Uber.

Placement Experience

3

Students are eligible for placements from 6th Semester onwards. We get internships oppurtunities in 2nd Year. The companies that visit are De Shaw, Mahindra and Mahindra, ISRO,BPCL, Amazon, IBM, TCS. There are a fair amount of offers made. The highest package in last placement season is 64 Lakhs and Average Package is aroun 17.8 Lakhs. Placement Rate is 85%. I would prefer to get into research or Higher Studies if I am well-versed with the subject, else I might settle for a 9 to 5 job.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition for each semester is 1,00,000. The mess fee would be 18,000 and other charges like rental water and electricity, other facilities and hostel overhead charges amounts upto another 18,000. Thus for each semester you will be paying 1,36,000. The reemission will be applicable if you belong to certain category or if you have less family income. --> For SC/ST/Pwd candidates tuition fee is fully reemitted and they have to just pay 36,000. --> For OBC and General Canditates if the income is below 5 lakh 2/3 rd of tuition fee will be remitted rest must be paid There willbe various scholarships available that would be circulated by the management

Campus Life

3

We have one Fest happening at a larger scale, which is divided into Wiessinaire, Alma-Fiesta, G-Summit, Ashvamedha. We have wide range of novels in our Library, consisting all genres. Our Classrooms are equipped with Smart Boards and have the privielege of Active Learning Classrooms. We have a Student Activity Centre that is equipped with all Indoor and Outdoor Courts. There are various Technical and cultural Clubs hosted by students.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostels provide quite good enough facilities to thrive here such as Laundry, room Cleaning, Fans, Cupboards, Beds etc.It is an Indian Menu Food served here, the quality is bearble but not great enough though. The hostel registration and allotment is quite hassle-free like the registration process and is very much affordable.

Admission

I applied for 1st Gen IIT's which offered Engineering Physics as an Undergraduate Course. I had been allotted IIT Mandi in the Mock Allotment. The reason I picked IIT Bhubaneswar over Mandi because it was too far for me to travel and the connectivity of College to Public Transport is not good, and IIT Bhubaneswar has a better Physics department as compared to IIT Mandi. I could not make it to the !st Gen IITs, it is obvious I could not rank below their cutoff rank. Once the seat is allocated , you will have to submit the details online, to prove your age, caste, income etc. The only way to enter this college is to clear JEE Advanced. You are eligible for all the branches if score above the average of the total score.

Faculty

3

This college has considerably good faculty-to-student ratio. The faculty are very approachable they put in serious efforts to make students understand the course and clarify their doubts. I liked my Math Teacher, he taught us really well and was instrumental in clarifying my doubts. There are really good faculties who have been awarded as Top 2% world's scientists, and their work, research is great. I was not very fond of ET Theory Course, he taught the course well and even extended himself to clarify our doubts, but I couldn't connect with the faculty very much, he was indeed a good person but I couldn't reciprocate with him. There is one Mid-Semester Exam and one End-Semester Exams, the assessment is cumulative, the class tests, assignments will be considered and marked. Exams are set to standard level yet there are a few who fail to clear a few exams. The first year curriculum is not that relevant to course but must be done.

Night Life

3

There is a Gym in SAC(Student Activity Centre,A huge Library in Admin Building, there is Nescafe and a Restaurant inside the campus. There is nothing called hostel timings or campus timings, Everyone are free to go and come in the campus at any time. There are various beaches and Temples like Puri,Konark around Bhubaneswar.

Siksha 'O' Anusandhan University - [SOA], Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Jan 9, 2026(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

1. Relevance & Comprehensiveness (Rating: 7/10) The course curriculum at SOA is updated frequently compared to state government colleges. Why I chose this: I was attracted to the fact that the syllabus includes modern electives like Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Data Analytics starting from the 3rd year itself, rather than waiting for the final semester. Real-world Prep: The curriculum is designed largely to crack placement interviews. There is a heavy focus on Aptitude and Core Coding subjects (DS/Algo) which helps in getting a job. However, for deep research or R&D roles, the theoretical depth is sometimes lacking. 2. Areas for Improvement Teaching Methods: A major issue is the reliance on PowerPoint Presentations (PPTs). Many faculty members just read off the slides. I would prefer more "Whiteboard Teaching" for mathematical and logic-based subjects. Lab Records: We spend hours handwriting practical records/files which are just copied from the manual. This is a waste of time. This time should be used for live coding projects or hackathons. Outdated Subjects: First-year students (even in CS/IT) are forced to learn heavy mechanical/civil concepts. While basics are good, the depth of these non-core subjects should be reduced. 3. Exam System & Difficulty Frequency: It is quite hectic. We have 2 semesters a year. Each semester has 2 Internal Assessments (Quizzes/Mid-sems) and 1 End-Semester Exam. Basically, you have an exam every 1.5 to 2 months. Difficulty: The exams are Easy to Moderate. It is not very difficult to pass. If you study the "Class Notes" and "Previous Year Questions" for 3-4 days before the exam, you can easily score an 8.0 SGPA. The checking is lenient for passing, but strict if you are aiming for a 9.5+ SGPA.

I actually have a very little idea about placements of our uni few seniors says there is not a single company visiting, while few were discussing the highest placement which was something like 20lpa or something,i think companies do visit our campus it may not be much but i have definetly seen one or two companies visiting. I plan to do MBA after my Btech so i am not that serious about whether i am getting placed or not.

Gandhi Engineering College (GEC Autonomous), Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
Reviewed on Dec 22, 2025(Enrolled 2023)

Course Curriculum Overview:

I mainly chose this course because the college is Autonomous, which allows them to update the syllabus faster than standard university colleges; seeing subjects like Python and Data Science in the early semesters really influenced my decision. The curriculum is decent for getting placed in service-based companies like TCS or Wipro since they focus heavily on the basics and aptitude, though for high-end product roles or research, you have to put in extra effort yourself. I definitely think they need to reduce the theory load and focus more on practical coding because sometimes it feels like we are just writing assignments instead of building things. Also, the junior faculty rely too much on reading from slides, which really needs to change to make classes more engaging. As for exams, it feels like we are always writing them since we have two internals and one end-semester exam per term. They are moderately difficult and the checking is strict, so you can't slack off, but the tight schedule can get quite exhausting.
