What Students Say
Likes
- I like the fact that everything is taught from the very basics keeping in mind that students from varied backgrounds join the course.
- I like the faculty who're very knowledgeable, approachable and helpful.
- I like the the extra curriculars activities conducted in the college which help us develop ourselves.
Dislikes
- The fact that the Oxford Business Trip will happen only once we pass out seems like a scam as we weren't told about this before we joined.
- The fact that the student crowd is average which affects the growth and learning environment. The ratio of girls to boys is almost 2:3.
- The fact that they inform us about certain things so last minute, it affects our planning and execution process.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is definitely relevant as the various concepts are taught using real-world examples. Moreover, solving case studies help us tackle and figure out the real issues apart from text book knowledge as well. Overall, they could work on giving more time to difficult concepts instead of rushing through the syllabus. The first midsem happened in October and the endsem exam happened in December; the next Midsem exam will happen in March and the second semester exam will happen in May. The Difficulty level is usually moderate.
Internships Opportunities
Various companies comfort placements like Dabur, Hafle, Havels, HP, Bajaj etc. with stipends ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 50,000. The job roles vary from various specializations like HR, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, Operations etc. Fun Fact, most of the internship opportunitites that come for marketing are sales roles.
Placement Experience
The students start sitting for internship interviews from their second semester and once they are back from their returnships they start sitting for placement interviews from their 3rd semester. A lot of companies like Asian Paints, Dell, Zomato, Delloite, Yamaha, Dabur, Wipro etc come for placements for the Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics and HR specialisations. The highest package offered is Rs. 24 lakhs LPA and the average package is 7 lakhs LPA. Majority of the students who sit for the placements are placed. I also plan on sitting for the placements and getting a good placement.
Fees and Financial Aid
The entire PGDM Course costs Rs. 8.25 Lakhs for our batch and it is increasing every year as and when the new batches join in. We've to pay Rs. 1.95 Lakhs per semester. The Registration Fee was Rs. 45,000; the tuition fee consists of Rs. 4,10,000, Examination Fee is Rs. 1,50,000, etc.
Campus Life
One of the major events conducted at ABS is the "Young Asian Entrepreneur Challenge" conducted by EDIC. Apart from that, the Freshers' Party is quite grand. ABSIC is the paper presentation competition and PROMULGARE is the case analysis competition. We have various events conducted by the Marketing Club, the HR Club, the CSR Club, GNOSIS, the UTSAV Club etc as well. ATHLEEMA is the annual sports event of ABS. Over all, the college is quite happening in terms of events and exposures helping students learn and grow.
Admission
I had applied to New Delhi Institute of Management, Delhi School of Business and Rajagiri Business School amongst other colleges. I chose Asian Business School over these colleges as the fee structure justified everything that the college had to offer in terms of the Oxford business trip, laptop, business suit, certificate courses Etc. I was aiming to get into Tata Institute of Social Sciences and I couldn't make it into TISS as with the Entrance examination switching from Tissnet to Cuet the competition and cutoff increased. The admission process in my college is first I need to appear for a written test or provide a valid scorecard from a management test. Next, I am supposed to appear for two rounds of personal interview - one from the college faculty and the next from Oxford College in London. After clearing all of these, I was informed whether I have cleared the admission process or not. Overall the experience was filled with anxiousness and apprehension and I was happy that I could make it into this college.
Faculty
There are 10 faculty members for 10 papers for each section of around 50 students. Most of the faculty are good and have enough expertise in the subjects that they teach. I personally really like Bushra Majaz, Vaishali Upadhaya, Bushra Khan and Guneet Kaur for their teaching style, knowledge, approachability and guidance. Some faculties like Suman Ma'am, Sweta Singal, Omkarnath etc donot teach very well resulting in us struggling to figure out and understand the concepts. There are mid-sem and end-sem examinations, having a total of 8 set of examinations.
Interview Experience
We did not have any group discussion. We had two rounds of personal interview, one with the faculty of Asian Business School and the other with the faculty of Oxford Business School, London. The interview was quite elaborate and I was asked questions from my previous degree of education. Since I had not appeared for any management test yet I had to appear for an internal test conducted by each business school which I had to clear.
Night Life
The college has an open gym and two libraries, one in the Management block and the other in the Law block. The classes begin at 9:00 AM, goes up to 4 in the evening. The cafeteria functions along the same timings. Sector 126 is the area which is a hub of PG's, cafes and everything else that you need which is around a kilometer away from campus.Okhla Bird Sanctuary and Botanical Garden are the two metro stations closest to the college. Since the area is mostly dominated by a student crowd which is very close to Amity University it is considered safe as we go out for night walks as well.
Other Applied Colleges
New Delhi Institute of Management - [NDIM] | Post Graduate Diploma in Management [PGDM]
I opted for this college as everything that they were offering made me feel the fees was justified and worth it.
