The Mysore Medical College

Positive remarks- It's the oldest medical college of Karnataka and is its pride. It's my great pleasure to be a student of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute. It had great study environment and great faculty, library, great hospital with it.

MBBS has 4 study years and 1 year of internship. Each year is of 1 year duration and second year being 1 and half years duration. We have totally 14 Subjects in UG in MBBS which are divided among 4 years of study along with one year of internship. Exams are held throughout the year, in which 3 internals conducted by college in which student should secure passing marks in atleast 2 of those. Final exams are conducted at the end of every academic year which will be conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS).One must secure 50% of marks in all subjects 50% separately in Theory+ Viva , and Practical, 50% of marks in total aggregate to Pass, and one must pass all the subjects in each year to appear to the exam of next year. To enter internship one must clear all the subjects.

Regarding job opportunities there are many choices as being a doctor. One can open his own nursing home, or join other hospitals. And he can even pursue his education for higher studies (Post Graduation and Super Specialisations). Regarding internship we should do a internship of 1 year in Krishna Rajendra Hospital, which is a great place to have very good experience. Thanks to its patient overloading, which brings patients from surrounding districts. We get a stipend of 20,000 per month.

Every year we have many events celebrated in the college throughout the year. In March we have intra college sports meet named "KREIDA". In the month of April we have Conference held named "VAGUS". In September we have State level Inter Collegiate Fest named "saMMCRIthi". These are the main events which will be held in our college.

Fee structure is feasible as it is a government medical college. But recently it has become expensive from our junior batch students due to fee hike by Karnataka State government. Initially it was of around 15,000 per year but now it's around 65,000.

Our college provides us with Karnataka EPASS scholarship sponsored by the Government of Karnataka. From this scholarship, the college academic fee which we have paid will be returned back by the Government.

College has very good laboratories required for all the particular departments, with great specimen collection since 1924. Extracurricular activities and sports are very much encouraged in college and many of the students take part in many activities. It's a great experience indeed.

Yes, I have opted for the hostel as because my hometown is 300 kms away from Mysore. I'm staying in a government medical college hostel. Hostel was built in 1962, its great one, if we were in 1962. But now infrastructure facilities are too poor in hostel. Hostel is without minimum basic facilities without proper toilets and bathrooms.And it is unsafe to live in.

Yes, Mysore Medical College has a great Alumni network, which are being currently settled throughout the world. Alumni meet occurs every year in college premises and we get to meet them. Senior students are very helpful academically as well as in other matters too. They are very friendly and guides us to be best.

I have got admitted to this college by the competitive examination held by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), named CET Examination. After securing a good rank in CET , I had to go through online counseling procedure through which finally I got allotted Mysore Medical College and Research Institute. It's indeed my luck to be in this college. Finally by submission of all the valid documents in the college and paying recommended fee we were finally got admission into a Prestigious Medical College of Karnataka.

The faculty of Mysore Medical College and Research Institute are of great resources one could ask for. They will conduct practical classes in hospital and also teach us in Theory classes. Overall they are the best ones one can get with there astounding years of experience.
