Course Curriculum Overview

3

As I mentioned earlier, the course curriculum is somewhat outdated, so it needs to be changed, and the administration somewhat does it periodically. But still, I feel the curriculum is not up to date with the modern world and what the job market needs, so it needs to be changed. Also, the faculty should focus more on practical Topics and should teach in a more engaging way, which is seen very little in our college. Together with this, Though the exam pattern is alright, I feel that the weightage of the end semester should be higher, somewhere around 70%.

Fees and Financial Aid

1. The yearly fees are different for the first year and quite similar for the other three years of Btech. So for the first year, I had to pay 1,37,650 rupees, and For the remaining three years, I have to pay somewhere around Rs.1,07,000/year. 2. There is no management quota but there is a college-level counseling(CLC) round. Also the tuition fees are similar for almost all castes and is different if you lie in TFW(Tuition fee waiver) category or lateral entry and all. 3. Here's the fee structure for 2023-2024 batch: The net tuition fees of four years : 32000*4 = Rs.130,000 One-time fees (Net): Rs.27150 Recurring yearly fees (4 years): Maintenance fees : 8000 *4 Automation/IT infrastructure fees: 6000*4 Library and E-resources: 5000*4 Semester fees: 3000*4 Innovation/startup/placement activity fees: 3000*4 Insurance fees: 100*4 Laboratory/workshop: 2500*4 Student Welfare fund: 4000 Examination fees: 1300*4 Miscellaneous fees: 5000 Caution fee (One time): 5000 The above fees is valid for all categories does not matter which cast you belong to though you can apply for scholarships. The only difference in TFW category is you won't be charged with the tuition fee rest remains the same. Scholarship: There are two scholarships mainly present : 1. Mukhya Mantri Medhavi Vidyarthi Yojana(MMVY) : This is a merit-based scholarship; you have to be eligible for it, and the criteria are to score above 85% in boards and your rank(AIR) should be under 1.5 lakh in jee. This will cover all the fees of college, so technically, you have to pay the fees of first year yourself, and then next year you will get the scholarship(After applying), and you can continue availing it till you apply for it. 2. MPTAAS: This scholarship is cast based. so the Sc/St can get 100% scholarship and OBC can only get up to 30000/year. Overall the fees of this college is higher than any government college in MP so you can figure it out yourself.

Campus Life

3

The campus life is pretty much average for me. Though there are more than 60 clubs in college they do organize mini events but there's no as such grand event in our college. The College doesn't help with the funds or anything though you can take help of any Professor to get the right equipments If you are organising anything but again its an hassle. Overall there are a few clubs that are very active in the college, like Qurencia, Hindi Samithi, Electronics clubs, and a few more. The most disappointing thing for me in this college is the library which only has the curriculum books and nothing extra together with Its timings which is 11am to 6pm. Also there's category issue dates like on Monday only sc/st and issue the book then on tue only this cast can do and all rubbish. So lib is bad.

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel rooms are alright, with four beds in a single room with four almiras and a separate study cabin with four tables. The meal quality of the breakfast is alright, but the dinner somewhat varies and is not always good, so it is average. The management and especially the warden are inconsiderate about students and somewhat overly restricted from doing any activities or celebrating any festival, which creates a bad relationship between students and the warden, often resulting in conflicts. The hostel is really expensive(Rs.109000/year) if you compare with jec or sgsit, and it only accommodates you for the first year, and then you have to empty it, which is actually a really bad thing. While finding PG/room in the nearby areas of college is really easy same goes for mess and all.

Admission

So, the main reason I picked this college was the scholarship and cause this was in the same state making travel easier. Though I was getting pretty good pvt colleges Like MSRIT Bangalore, MITWPU, and BHU(for BA), the fees of the private colleges were really high, and the government colleges that I was getting either wasn't offering Btech, or I wasn't eligible. I couldn't apply for Jossa as my 12th % was below 75% The admission process in this college is really smooth, and if you are alone, then also you can continue with the admission. There is no necessity to bring your parents as I too did everything alone from college to hostel registration. The staff is really helpful in this specially Manish Dixit sir, So overall it was a great experience

Faculty

4

In every college, there are faculty Members who excel in their roles and others who may not meet expectations, and this is true for this college, too. Overall most of the faculty at mits are approachable and helpful especially when it comes to resolving issues like attendance. Most of them are willing to listen and address students' concern. Personally, I find Professor Madhav Singh to be an exceptional faculty member. He is highly approachable and listens to students' problems. He is genuinely considerate when it comes to guiding or helping them together with his teaching style where he puts in really good effort. While I prefer not to name faculty members who I don't find satisfactory. The main reasons for discontent generally include a lack of effort in teaching, minimal interaction with students, and a tendency to simply read the curriculum without providing meaningful explanations or fostering classroom engagement. The court structure is like this : 1 year: 2 Sems 1 Sem: 3 Main exams 1. MId sem- 1 2. Mid sem-2 3. End sem exam The marking scheme: Both mid-sem together carry 20% weightage While the End sem carries 60% And the rest all like mini projects, minors, practicals, and all: 20% I personally find the scores curriculum is somewhat outdated in certain areas, though the administration makes periodic changes by adding and removing topics on a yearly basis. Overall the exams are moderately challenging but manageable with consistent effort. The failure rate is really low and It's hard to fail until and unless you totally give up on college studies

Night Life

3

There's no professional gym in college or hostel; there's only this open gym somewhat similar to the gym attached in public parks, that's all. But there is a basketball and volleyball court together with a cricket ground which somewhat keeps the sports life alive. The hostel timings are really strict so it opens at 5 in the morning and closes around 7-8 in the evening, for girls it closes at 6 in the evening. The nightlife is impossible as It's mostly restricted to enter the college after 6:00 PM and after 8:00 PM hostellers aren't allowed to leave the hostel. though you can find some ways to do it if you are in unity.

Placement Experience:

At the end of 2nd year, companies like goldman sachs comes to take interns. For placements students become eligible from 6th or 7th semester. In recent years goldman sachs is the biggest recruiter, oracle and Deloitte have also recruited, other firms like tcs and infosys also come. Giants like Amazon and google have stopped visiting since few years. Last year highest package was 72 lpa to an ece student. Average lies around 8 lpa. In tech branch 70-80% students are placed. In lower branches 50-60% students are placed. My plan is also to get placed at a decent package after completion of course.
