Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum is quite good and the teaching methods makes it more appropriate for a student to understand everything in a better way. There are class tests been taken which prepares the students really well and assignments related to the topic going is given to indulge the students more into the topic and give him/her a better understanding about it.

Fees and Financial Aid

Hey everyone, the yearly fee of my department i.e, CSE(Data Science) is 1,31,400 (without hostel charges). The tuition fee for each semester is 55,000 , caution fees is 5,000(refundable), registration fee is 500 , the admission fee is 10,000 ,development fee is 8,250 , library fee is 750 , Dress kit costs 6,100(all charges are for one semester). The hostel charges are different and it costs around 75,000 per year. The charges are different for different branches , so for CSE(AIMl , CS , EE , ME , CE , CSD) its's the same as mentioned above. But for CSE , IT and ECE the charges are as follows - yearly fee is 1,44,050 (without hostel charges) , tuition fee for each semester is 60,500 , caution fees is 5,000(refundable) , registration fee is 500 , the admission fee is 10,000 , development fee is 9,075 , library fee is 750 , and the dress kit costs around 6,100. Hostel charges are same as mentioned above. The hostel caution money is 2,000 which is refundable.

Campus Life

5

Overall campus life here is exciting. There are events that keeps taking place whether it be related to tech, sports, or some cultural events. We have a an upcoming tech fest in February and then a cultural fest will follow up soon. Talking about the library itr has a vast variety of books ranging from course books to jornals , novels and what not. Classrooms are well maintained and clean .Certains classes have smart boards. There are also certain clubs in our college related to cultural programs, technology, coding etc.

Hostel Facilities

1

According to me the hostel facility is not that good. I have taken a four-seater in which there is a bed , a small cupboard(too small) , a chair and a table. That's all that we have. The meal quality was quite good for the initial one month but then the quality detoriated like anything. The registration process was quite simple , though the fees is not that high but the mess charge is 5,000 per month and the food is not according to that price. I would suggest that its better to rent a pg rather than taking the hostel.

Admission

The main reasons for choosing this college was- 1.I had heard a lot about this college in terms of teaching style and the other faculty members. 2. This college provides a good placement . 3. The rate of return is quite good so that's an another factor for choosing this college. The admission process was quite simple. You have to secure 60% in PCM, JEE MAINS and WBJEE results are accepted and it also takes direct admissions on the basis of class 12 marks.

Faculty

5

There are suffiecient faculty member for each course. There is quite a helthy relationship between the faculty and the students and as i have mentioned earlier they all have a helping nature and they are always ready to guide us. All the faculties i have met till now are really good , but to mention some names the Mathematics faculty , the one who teaches Mechanics and the one who teaches Chemistry are really great teachers. They clear every topics , every confusion of each student. Not only in class but they are always welcoming even in free periods. As now our college is autonomous so the exam structure has changed a bit. Though the exam conducted are not really difficult for the students who might have paid proper attention to what the teacher is teaching.

Night Life

3

Night life is not that exciting within the campus. As the hostellers are not allowed to go out after 8pm in summers and after 7 pm in winters(girls hostel to be precise). Though we have a gym which is okay, then we also have a canteen but it is only open during the college hours. Though in terms of safety i would give it a 10/10 but there are some improvements needed in terms of making it a more enjoyable place.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course subjects are overall good for all branch. But, if a student is interested in giving competitive exams like GATE, then he must be facing problems as the semester course is more theoretical related and boring, the same old style education system.

Placement Experience:

The placement situation at IIT KGP is one of th e best among Engineering Colleges in India. With an average package of around 2200000 and overall placement percentage of around 80 (B.Tech+M.Tech). Students become eligible for placement either if they get PPO(Pre Placement Offer) from the company they are interning in in the 5th semester or when they are in the 7th semester when placement season begins. Around 1800 offers and 400 PPOs were made in phase 1 which includes 25 international offers. There were around 400 companies that visited. The highest offer was 21400000. Top profiles are Software, Data, Finance, Consulting, Quant and Core.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum under MAKAUT is quite comprehensive, which is one of the reasons I choose this course. With making the foundation strong in first year with subjects like maths, physics, chemistry and then the core subjects in the later years. In terms of real life application, lab work, project work and projects make us ready for the industry. The syllabus is also alligned with the competitive exams like GATE.

Placement Experience:

Before the placements were good enough like both on-campus and off-campus. The college really tried hard each year for placement offers and as i have heard from the seniors, it was quite good. But in recent times, there are literally no placement offers and even the college has given up. TPO that should manage such oppurtunities are of no good and they are not even trying a bit to bring it some companies for the placement rounds. Now only if you are good enough and know enough to crack off-campus placements, then its good.

The structure of curriculum is not so great. Definitely there is a scope for improvement . We are under MAKAUT university and through job readiness perspective the structure of curriculum is below average. Lots of inclusion of different subjects are needed along with the exclusion of lengthy monotonous subjects which doesn't yield any result.
