Remarks
Negative remark: Infrastructure now is very poor, but very soon a new academic building is going to be renovated, which is fully digital and centralized AC. Positive remark: We all NITs come after IITs so NIT JAMSHEDPUR has much thing that make it better than private colleges and also better than state level govt colleges. NIT itself is a brand.
Course Curriculum Overview
Bachelor of Technology is a four year course divided into eight semesters. Each semester covers a period of 4½ months that means on an average 9 is to be spent on college. Almost 2½ month summer break is given, during that period students do internship in some good companies. Each semester consist of mid semester exam and end semester exam. Mid semester exam has a weightage of 30% and end semester has 50% weightage and 20% under teachers assessment.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For those whose family income is less than 1 lac, such students are given full tuition fee remission of Rs 62500 per semester. And whose family income is less than 5 lacs but greater than 1 lac is given ? remission of tuition fee. For those whose family income is more than 5 lacs, such students pay their full fee which is around 1 lac per semester including hostel and mess facility.
Fees and Financial Aid
As this institute is run by MHRD DELHI, it is a government funding institute. For those whose family income is less than 1 lac, such students are given full tuition fee remission of Rs 62500 per semester. And whose family income is less than 5 lacs but greater than 1 lac is given ? remission of tuition fee. A company called TATA CUMMINS visit every year who select economically poor and talented students and offer scholarships to them.
Campus Life
Since NIT JAMSHEDPUR is established in 1960 (earlier known as REGIONAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY), labs are in very poor condition. Lab assistants are also not much helpful, students are dependent on themselves in lab. Sports facilities in NIT JAMSHEDPUR is quite good. Options are cricket, football, table tennis, badminton, carrom, chess, volleyball, basketball.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel is mandatory for each and every student. Hostel infrastructure is very very much good and comfortable. Facilities also justify the amount taken for that. Quality of food is also good in mess.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors in NIT JAMSHEDPUR are very interactive, very helpful. They help students regarding academics, placements, internships. Even all the fests are organised by seniors. Once in a year Alumni meet is organised in which Alumni come and share their experiences in their field.
Admission
The only way to get in NIT JAMSHEDPUR for B-Tech course is JEE MAIN. The candidate has to appear appear for JEE MAIN after 12th board and then he/she has to select courses of his/choice during counseling done JOSAA. Then he/she will admitted in the college according to their rank and choice filling of courses during JOSAA counselling.
Faculty
All the faculty in the college are PhD holder, they have completed their PhD from some good IITs. They also have good experience of teaching. But recently large number of new faculties are recruited. Some of the newly recruited are very laborious, very honest to their work and have good techniques of teaching. But overall the faculties are not as effective as we have seen in coaching institutes and also some of the old professors are very lazy not willing to work.
