Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum is a mix of BA subjects including history, political science, psychology, sociology and economics and LLB subjects encompassing all the legal aspects required. They also have Extra credit courses for those who choose to delve into certain formally includes legal aspects.
Internships Opportunities
We have a Internship Coordination Committee which is supportive and mainly provides us opportunity for internships at boutique firms and grants Letter of Recommendation on the University's behalf. Law internships are mainly unpaid.
Fees and Financial Aid
First year fees I paid was total of 2.5 Lakhs which includes tution fees, library and database access, moot court and seminars, internet charges and hostel and mess fees alongwith other miscellaneous aspects. There are various scholarships for merit cum need basis but are mainly state wise in nature after admission.
Campus Life
The university has annual cultural fest named Lawkriti, a week long event beginning with Spirit week with theme days, filler events etc. followed ny a 3 day DJ night with various extra curricular competitions. Furthermore we have a sports fest named SPORTACUS, which involves a week long package of sports ranging from indoor to outdoor sports. We also have contingents that go to other fests from other prominent universities.
Hostel Facilities
The university has in campus hostel and students are not allowed to reside outside the campus. We have two hostels , one dedicated to boys and other for girls. However incoming batches reside outside the campus for the being at rented hostels due to paucity of space till the seniormost batches passes out. The hostels are highly developed with different washrooms and bathrooms along with washing machine on all floors. Rooms also have centralized AC. The gym and other common rooms are open to all inside the hostel at certain prescribed times. We are protected by lady guards and have a warden available at any point of time. Additionally there are cleaners to clean the hostel and the rooms.
Admission
I gave CLAT and was allotted NLU Shimla but later got an update and migrated to MNLU Nagpur. The university is included in the Consortium and admission only takes place through CLAT ranking. This is done through a cutoff system.
Faculty
Every university has some reservations regarding hiring of professors and same goes for MNLU Nagpur. It has a mix of old experienced and young dynamic professors who are knowledgeable in their own fields. There are basically mid semester examinations followed by project submissions-viva and end semester examinations with a total of 4-6 subjects from 1st to 5th year. The exams are mainly practical based questions including case comments and questions based on hypothetical situations where students qre expected to assess and apply the law.
Night Life
Girls and Boys hostel have their personal gyms within the respective hostels itself alongwith a common room adorned with a television and sports room with table tennis, chess and carrom facilities. Furthermore there are two artificial lakes inside the campus and has canteen on the lakeside to enjoy the vibe Campus in-timings are till 8:30 PM while inside the hostel it is 10:30 PM exception being the library and atudy room in the academic block which have an extended timing till 12 AM.
