Course Curriculum Overview

4

5 years back not many law schools used to provide BBALLB course, even many of the top nlus were also not providing this course. I chose Nmims because of this reason. Along with that the life which Mumbai offers you helps in networking and prepares you for the real world. Nmims law school teaches various sujects of law which help students in exploring and choosing the one for them. The infrastructure aspect can be improved along with the attendance policy. Exam timing for mid sem written exam is 60 min for 3 questions each of 5, 5 and 10 marks and for end sem papers it is 120 mins for 5 questions each of 10 marks.

Internships Opportunities

4

The college's placement cell has provided internship opportunities in various tier 1 firms like AZB, Khaitan, CAM, Wadia Gandhy, Dhir and Dhir, Tseries etc in different departments of the firm. All these internships are paide and the hoghest stipend went upto 10k for a month. Although 90% students find internships through their own contacts and network.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees is INR 2,02,000 per year. Here's the breakdown Development Fees - 30,000 Other Fees - 56,000 Tuttion Fees - 110,000 Security Deposite - 5,000 Library Deposite - 1,000 Security and Library deposite need to be paid once i.e., at the time of admission. After that only 1,96,000 was paid every year. At the end of the 5th year, the security deposite of 5000 will be returned. No scholarship and financial aid is provided. And the fee sturucture is similar for students of all the catogories, as NMIMS is a private university and its law school (KPMSOL) is a private college. Around 10 Lakhs are required for a 5- year law course. Fees is same for both BBALLB and BALLB. This was the fee structure in 2020. Now its has increased to almost 4 lakh a year. Payment in installments faacility is available.

Campus Life

4

There are various clubs and coomittes for co curicular activities. Each committe has a position of a Chairperson and 4-5 Vice- Chairpersons followed by different departments of the committes headed by their HODs. There is a different application and internview procedure held by each committee for selection of members and hods. Vcps and CPs are slected on recommendation. Each club has its own co-convenor and heads i.e., the professors. For academic purposes Moot Court Committee, MUN committee and Center for Research Committee are there. Committes like Navrang, Fitoor, Pehchan are for sports, dance and gender awareness. Along with these there is a committe for IT related work and Enterprenuership. The library have a variety of books and journals available. Virtual library consisting of SCC, Manupatra, Live law ect access are also provided. The frontiers society is a social group responsible for organizing social activities

Admission

I gave CLAT in 2020 along with SLAT, MHCET and other private colleges enttrances. Before 2020, all private colleges excluding Symbiosis, gave admissions on the basis of the student's CLAT score. But then Covid came in 2020 and everything shifted to online mode including CLAT. I was a crash course student and did not clear the CLAT cutoff. I applied for Symbiosis Pune and Noida Campus, NMIMS, MIT Pune; these were the colleges which held their own entrance exam that year. Even applied for UPES Dehradhun and Nirma and they were still giving admissions based on the CLAT score. Got confirmed admission in UPES Dehradhun, Symbiosis Noida, Mit Pune and NMIMS Mumbai. I chose NMIMS over over other colleges because of the city adavantage it provides. Though NMIMS does not provide placements like other NLUs but its curriculum and college timings are st accordingly which gives the students ample amout of time to explore, network and go for internships. Also Mumbai have many repluted law firms as compared to cities like Dehradhun and Pune. Noida was chucked because of safety concerns. I was not selected for Symbiosis Pune and before Nirma, NMIMS released its results and I got a seat there. Initially NMIMS use to take students based on their clat score but in 2020 CLAT was getting delayed which led to NMIMS introducing their own entrace exam NLAT. And from then Nmims is following this pattern only. Their entrace exam consisted of an objective type exam of 60 marks. No interview was taken and they declared results within a week. It offers two courses BALLB and BBALLB. Till 2nd year both of courses have different subjects and from 3rd year they have same subjects. The admission process was all online due to covid and we were asked to send documents tike original transfer certifcate and others through post and rest of documents were uploaded online. The fees was paid through RTGS Net Banking then, now they have their own payment gateway for fee payment. ID with biometric scan entry

Faculty

4

The faculty consist of permanent faculty and visiting faculty. Most of the visiting faculties are lawyers as well thus they impart practical knowledge along with theoritical knowledge. The professors are quite helpful and they do sometimes offers internship and research oppurtunities. Attendance expemtions are on the discretion of the proffessor and most of them consider internship expemption. The faculties are approacable. All students are given their own and each professor's NMIMS maild id. In 1st and 2nd year there are 6-8 subjets of BA/BBA and from 3rd year 5-6 core law subjets along with the lective subjects like cyber law, air and space law, election law, media law, maritime law, sports law, law and tech etc. For final year 4 specialization subjets are offered to the students to choose one amongst them. Criminal Law, Business Law, Constitution Law and Intellectual Property Rights. Each sem is of 4 months with Internal Assessment of 50 marks. This 50 marks include 20 marks for written exam, 10 marks for Group Discussion, 10 for class participation and 10 for quiz. This is followed by term end examination of 50 marks with minimum passing score of 20 marks. The examination ranges from moderate to easy and mostly the questions are situation based. Though most of the students clear the exam in one go but there are students who fail and given another opportunity in form of re exam held one month afrer the result declaration. There is no system of kt or backlogs. If one fails the exam they are required to give re exam and clear it. If not then the student is debarred for a whole year from the college.

Night Life

4

Nightlife in Bombay is quite safe and happening. There are cafes and coffee houses in 1 km radius of the college. For eg. Theobroma, Starbucks, The Chocolate Heaven, The famous Anand Stall etc. Juhu beach is hardly 5 mins drive away from the college. The area is posh and safe and celebs like Amitabh Bacchan, Shilpa Shetty and Akshay Kumar resides nearby college. Many Gyms are there and college itself provide gym facility to nmims students at a discounted rate of 800 rs. The college does not have its own campus thus although they do have their own hostel but they are very far from the college. One can find pgs and flats nearby college at a very affordable price. Since, the locality is posh it is absolutely safe to roam at night especially for the girls. The juhu police is always round the corner in case of any emergency.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the course 8/10 aa course is highly good for me and i chose this field because of the respect it have our curriculum is good only as first 2 years we have BLS subjects then we have law subjects after that. As it is an integrated course it surely serves the purpose and makes you ready for real-life field only but as we have 75-25 pattern it gets hard to write that much in the examination in that much hour also we have to prepare for internals alot then assignment costs alot of time and make the whole study schedule hectic
