What Students Say?
Likes
- Infrastructure was really good and now they have a big ground as well in which all the events and sports activities take place.
- Maintenance of the campus was appreciable, no littering always clean and nothing broken.
Dislikes
- Strict rules and regulations. It's very difficult to get 60% in exam.
- No compensation for attendance and 80% attendance is mandatory for everyone
Course Curriculum Overview
I never searched and studied their curriculum all I know is that the subjects that they teach are similar to most of the colleges. Nothing is new except they are really focused on internals. And give a weightage of 50 marks out of 100 to internals. The course is not applicable in real World but sets a foundation for further studies in your career. The rules Should not be so strict that the student cannot focus on other important things. In every semester after 2 months mid sem exam is conducted of 20 marks which is counted in internal marks and after 3 months from months from mid sem semester wise exam is conducted. All the exams are really hard and it feels impossible to get 60% or more. Scoring 45-50% is enough for an a average student.
Placement Experience
After 5th semester students get eligible for placements but the placements never happen much because nobody wants it as the average package is around 300000 and people spend around 10-12 lakhs for their degree without including hostel. 95% of people belong from business families, people either plan on joining family business or getting a master's degree from abroad or an MBA from India. Still there was a 2% placement rate last year 5 people got 300000 package out of ab batch of 189 students out of which highest package was 350000. My plan was also the same pursuing MBA after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fees for BBA was 252000 in the year 252000 out of which 144000 was tuition fees, 45000 was development fees, 57000 was other fees, 1000 Library deposit and 5000 was security deposit and there is no scholarships for any merit or SC/ST students. Everybody had the same fees which was supposed to be deposited in one transaction only.
Campus Life
There is an annual fest held in the month of March every year called Namotsav, it's a 3 day event, on first day there are sports activities held, on second day cultural activities take place and on the third day concert is organised. The Library has a lot of books but does not have more than 2 copies of each book so there is always a scarcity of books but the infrastructure was awesome of the library. The classrooms are equipped with a smart touch board and 4 white boards which makes it huge. And centralised AC is also there and Every table has 2 charging ports. There are a variety of sports that can be played in the campus both indoor and outdoor like football, badminton, basketball, cricket and for the indoor sports there is chess, table tennis, pool, carrom and table soccer. Clubs are also there is you are interested in one like cultural, eco club, management club, sports club etc.
Admission
I applied in IIM Rohtak, IIM Indore and symbiosis Pune but got rejected in all of them, in both the IIMs I was not able to clear the cut off and in symbiosis I was not able to qualify for personal interview that's why I chose NMIMS Indore because it was my last option. Getting admission in NMIMS Indore is quite easy you just have to clear NMAT even with a low score you can get admission. The only exam accepted by NMIMS is NMAT and 1 month of studying can get you into NMIMS Indore.
Faculty
The faculty to student ratio is 1:60 in most classes. It's upon students how they maintain their relationship with faculties and also they are quite approachable, you can visit them after their lectures get over after 2 pm. I really liked Atul sir and rajarshi sir because they were like mentors and used to listen to students who had problems in the campus other than them MBA faculties were best because they were PhD holders. My teacher of quantitative aptitude never liked me she was rude and had a personal bias from me. She liked only those who used to sit on the first two rows, she never liked people who used to sit at the back. There are a total of 6 exams per semester and to pass in each exam you need 40% that means to pass the exam you need 20 out of 50 and scoring above 30 was considered top student. Mostly people fail in core subjects like accounting, economics, maths, taxation, etc. but 80% of them clear it in re exam and those who are not able to clear it they end up getting year back. For the whole year you have to sit at home if you are not able to score 20. Even if it's only in 1 subject.
Night Life
Students go home at night there is no such thing as night life at NMIMS Indore. College closes at 5 pm everybody leaves including staff at 6 pm after that nobody is allowed to stay on campus, the hostel students are allowed till 10 PM inside the hostel and cannot enter or leave after 10 PM. No gyms are available there is only a pool table and 2 TT tables at the hostel. You can hangout at the cafeteria and nobody bats an eye it's the perfect spot to chill but when you do not have classes.
